GBAM!!

i have no interest going there or US.VI.

The only thing saving Puerto Rico is the "pride" of the people and the fact that they predominantly speak spanish which helps give them a unique flavor.

for sure I'd visit PR!! cool but the other two nah.. tongue

Agreed.

bar beach

eleko beach

not as fancy as those other beaches perhaps.

for one, the sand is darker and the water more gray than blue sometimes.

Did you even read the links before you posted them?

Where does it say that the ocean is not blue? All it says is that some plants can make their surroundings green.

Daft illiterates. grin

You are a fool water is transparent and doesn't have any color. Go to those beaches and put the water in a bottle we will see if it is blue. Monkey

The sky condition can make a big difference, as a clear blue sky will be reflected by the water as a darker color, whereas a cloudy sky will be reflected as a lighter color.

The depth of the water changes how much light is reflected from the sea bottom below. For shallow water, such as near a beach, the light reflected from the sand below the water will make the water look lighter (thus green) than it will look if you are in deep water (where little or no light is reflected from the bottom, resulting in dark blue water).

Light is also reflected from the interior of the water also, and the color of whatever is in the water (seaweed, soil, suspended sand, etc.) will affect the color that you see from the water.

The Sun angle affects the water color also, as less light is reflected from the surface, bottom, and interior of the water near noontime than is reflected during early morning or evening. The water is likely to look darker around

Put some air in a bottle and it will be transparent too.

Yet, the sky is somehow blue.

Oceans are blue, however oceans along the African coastline (maybe west African) are not always blue, most times they're more of grey or green grey/blue green

perhaps the seas there are your point of reference?

Water temp and depth affect ocean near the shore. Nigeria has deep water ocean around it. Near Siera Leone, Gambia, and Senegal the water looks more like the water in the other photos.

true i guess.

plus, the swamps, etc.

The problem with Nigerian beaches arte with the people and not beach itself. It's also in Nigeria that people wear wedding gowns and baggy jeans to a beach. No bikini, no nothing.

The main difference is natural due to lithological compositions rather than human mismanagement.

The reason the Nigerian Coastal beaches are not blue-ish in colour is because of the sediment type. The Nigerian coastal beaches are quartz rich siliclastic sands while that of Caribbeans and the East-Africans countries are mostly carbonate rich sands (Oolithic sands).

Please note that carbonate sands are derived instu and organically produced, while the quartz rich silicalstic sand beaches are made up of sediment transported over a long distance from the hinterland and deposited in their present location and are constantly undergoing rework. Hence, their dirty looking algae infested greenish colour wink.

I hope this helps to clarify the issue.
