Its so annoying. Had to take out a whole hour from work today to ask the customer care lady for my statement, which she printed and gave to me. After pointing out the various hundred naira debited for monthly account maintenance( imagine debiting me in March 2013 for November 2012 mnthly account maintenance)and the ones for annual maintenance charges, den I asked 4 d procedure 4 closing d account. After I did, d customer care lady began apologising, saying that the bank is considering stopping d deductions. I'm jst tired of dt bank, walahi! |

I have two accounts with access bank that i last used about a year ago. Suddenly, three days ago they deducted 5000 naira from each of the accounts...and tagged it as maintenance charge. This is shear robbery. |

Opened an account with UBA back in 2006, had some $2500 on the account and a debit card linked to it. Debit card had a collateral of 20$ (collateral for what, when it is a debit card, I can't with draw more than I have anyway?!?!). Instead of advertised 3 weeks, it took them over 3 months to produce the card. When travelling abroad, I specifically asked if my daily limit will allow me to make a single transaction of nearly $2000, they said YES SIR. To cut the long story short, when I was trying to make the mentioned transaction approaching $2000, it was denied, repeatedly. Only upon my return to Nigeria, my account manager told me that there is a limit of $500, which was correct... So I had to make numerous international calls, to withdraw the money from the ATM over several days (with all charges and fees associated with the ATM withdrawal)... All in all, my financial loss was some $700. Then I closed the account and there was, according to my books, a bit over $1000, and according to them, about $400. Earlier this year (2013) when trying to reactivate the account dormant for 4 years, I discovered that there is less than $100 on it. T.H.I.E.V.E.S. |

It's your N400 that was stolen by those crooks. I will provide a screenshot of my company's account tomorrow where Access has robbed me of more than N200,000 since sept last year till date. Meanwhile I am seeking a legal redress to the matter. They are the worst bank ever. They steal customers' funds and give a stupid memo for the charge. Imagine Account maintainance 5,000 a month unannounced. When am done with this people, their reputation will ... I wouldn't mind spending N1,000,000 to get this 200k back. 3 Likes |

yes i agree with you sometime last year i noticed 170,000 was missing from my current account i visited the bank to complain about it and have them look into it,the balance i got from my sms alerts were different from the balance on my bank statement. while i was on the case the same thing happened to my girl friend about N70,000 went missing from her account too. Eventually after a month on the matter 156,000 was refunded to me and they told me the rest of the money were bank charges blah blah so i stopped using access bank.My girl friends money was not returned an she also shut down her account with access bank, friends family have stopped using access bank after the heared about what happened to us.i also noticed that they deduct money from savings account too for no reason when i asked a worker in the bank why it was so, the worker had nothing to say about it she only said bank charges. i smh* for people that still bank with access bank. |

This is so so true. I experienced the same rubbish wt this Bank. I am surprised some people are of the opinion that its Access that brought this about. Intercontinental Bank has always been like that. That was the reason i abandoned the account. My account was dormant and i decided to reactivate the account thinking they would have changed as a result of the merger wt Access, i never knew that they are even more radical now in respect of deducting customer's account. After reactivating the account, I started experiencing different strange deductions. The day I decided I needed another account to separate some cash I designated for some particular purpose, I had the option of opening a fresh FBN account, but I was just tired of having so many accounts and decided to reactivate that Access account, I am seriously regretting that move now. Immediately my ATM expires on the account, I am closing the account. This is so so terrible. On a particular day i confronted the manager of a branch about all these deductions, I made him to realize that this is a savings account and the interest they give me monthly is hardly above 20 naira, yet they deduct almost 200 naira montly from the savings account. Imagine the irony. The guy was just speaking gibberish. 1 Like |

[Duote author=ochukwuma15]I was happy with intercontenental bank (okpara avenue) until they migrate to Access bank, and since then, the story changed. Every month, they deduct 100 naira from my account. If i withdraw any amount, they will withdraw 1,000 naira for themselves. Four times every day, they will send texts to me, thereby kidnapping 40 naira per day from my account. All my complaint to thier costumer care fell on deaf ears because they are always ready for an answer even before the question comes Now what i did was to withdrew my money and left 1,000 naira minimum deposit and Ben johnsoned. I'm now banking with Unity bank (ogui road, before stadium) and they are God's sent. Those regulating banking transactions in nigeria should urgently look into this before it becomes a tradition.[/quote] "If i withdraw any amount, they will withdraw 1,000 naira for themselves"..... very funny. |
