Kennyblues: Lagos State Governor, Babatunde has finished building the first suspension bridge in
Nigeria. The 1.358km bridge, which will link Ikoyi (Alexander Street) to Lekki (Admiralty Way), cost about N29 billion to build and a toll will be collected to recoup the investment. The

1. I have been on PREST LUNCH CRUISE and we did pass under the bridge to u-turn shortly before the dridge that links Bonny Camp; which obviously was too low for the Prest Boat. But I confirm, PREST, the biggest cruise boat around in Lagos can conveniently pass under the bridge

2. I lived in Ikorodu for 8yrs (moved out mid 2011). I used to take ferries to VI, dropping off at Addax @ Ozumba. Ferries pass under the bridge quit easily even when construction was at its peak, it did not disturb flow of water traffic
naptu2:

About the boat thing

1) Like I said, I've seen Otedola's yacht, Prest Lunch Cruise and SeaCat sail under this bridge (with my own eyes). These are the largest boats in Lagos.

2) It's not just about the height of this bridge. Before you get to this section of Five Cowry Creek, you must sail under Onikan and Five Cowry (Falomo) bridges. Even if you are coming from the other direction (Lagos Lagoon), you must sail under Eko, Carter and Third Mainland Bridges. Any boat that can sail under these bridges can sail under the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.

Nna meh, don't make me hv d slightest thought of you being a bush goat. Don't other state governors collect tax? What do dey do with our money? Appreciate good things and good things will follow you. Stop affirming and criticizing. Ifono

redsun: Things should be seen fundamentally.City building starts from the basics to the sumptuous. The romans or the egyptians used the aquaeducts to supply their cities with safe useable and drinkable water. But in 21st century nigeria, half of city dwellers still can't get useable and drinkable water without enormous fuss and life threatening diseases. And in the same city, the marvel and height of bridge building technology and knowhow is being showcased, just because they can simply pay oyinbos enormously to come and mount it,while the people still lack the basics.

Brother sun, how many people complained abt water in Lagos ?

Great
If you've seen those boats meander past the bridge in low tides and high tides
then the commitee of NL engineers (with all objectivity) hereby declare the bridge a suspension bridge at some parts
for indeed having some utility

Apparently, the available pix's are quite deceptful

"Deceptfully" explain what that means??

Wise up people this is not suspension bridge this is like any other bridge we have in Nigeria, that pillar and the railings you see on the background is just designs. If you cut off the extended pillar the bridge will still remain. If you call this suspension bridge, what will you call the one in San Francisco, Akashi kaikyo
bridge in kobe Japan, Xihoumen bridge in China Runyan bridge China etc.

I heaved such a huge sigh of relief after reading from the first line that the bridge is actually completed. Not another pre-election promise or agenda item. Kudos to Fashola

What type of useless Government builds 1.358km of bridge for 29Billion naira. $180million +. Jesus Christ !!!! shocked shocked shocked

And reason why i fear voting for APC abi na OPC is the fact that all basic ammenities provided would be tolled. After all these tax ?

Unfortunately , there is no hope as the Government in Abuja is clueless and lacks direction.

Prosterity will judge all these Leaders and sycophant and ignorant followers. sad cry cry cry cry

true.. u are on point. even though i like fashola and wat he has been doing since, i think he has missed it in that aspect.at least instead of a suspension bridge, he could has bettered the drainages in places that are terrible like ajegunle(if it is still that b4).
but bros, i don't blame him 100%. i remember when he wanted to change lagos around and he had to demolish buildings, a particular town caused some much uproar(magodo or markoko), even to the extent that their town head died. i guess he won't be trying anything beneficial after that
