My number is 4XXX and Nigeria, it is current in October, I just mailed my package in on friday August 30th, 2013.
I called KCC today Sept 4th 2013, they confirm that they have received it and will schedule me for probably a Dec interview,as they are just entring the information into the system, which may take weeks, it does not mean that I lost the opprotunity. They also said that I should check my e-mail starting from mid October.

The whole reason for my story is that, we need to take it easy and patiently wait for the technology to do its work.

Happy day to you all

bro Olamoyegun,

1. Each applicant will need to obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in the country of birth, showing the date and place of birth and the parentage of the applicant, based upon the original registration of birth. Submit to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate at your interview. Important Notice: All Immigrant Visa applicants must submit a long form original birth certificate. Short form birth certificates will not be accepted.

The certificate must contain the:

Person's date of birth;
Person's place of birth;
Names of both parents; and,
Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records.

hence, NPC ATTESTATION IS REQUIRED FROM HER TOO

2. if you can get your transcript, its good but if difficult to get, gather some proof of studentship given by your institution and evidence of NYSC, with these I feel u r good to go.

wishing all of us success in our coming interviews.

i hope it helps?

This is so detailed, I like the way you expalined it,

One more thing I will like to add, I think folks should also start thinking of the type of jobs they will like to do when you get to the US and how to further their education. US is a very competitive country education and career wise, people should get it right as time waits for nobody.
Families back home look forward to you helping people out when you get to America, so you don't really have time to play around. Also rents and bills don't come cheap, I will advice that when you get to the US and someone is accomodating you, you should please set pride aside and go by the rules, that is always one major issue with new arrivals in America.
If you are a lady, please learn how to do hair, so that you can help yourself and your children in the least, those are expensive too, if you like natives, please sew some and leave space for expansion (as you are most likely to add some inches to you waist when you get to America), if you can learn how to sew, that will also help you. you dont have to do it for money but at least you can help yourself before you settle down.

But the first thing is to know what you want to do education and career wise.

For those that are graduates, you can do evaluation of your degree (it is better to do 'course by course') please start early, as that takes some time.
Also make sure that you get an offcial copy of your transcript before you leave Nigeria.
http://www.naces.org/members.htm
Of all the bodies, I will recommend http://www.wes.org. But bear in mind that they are detailed and take long time
This is a simple process
1. Go to WES website and register,to get an Identification number
2. Get your school to send your transcript to WES
3. WES gets your transcript and send a confrimation request back to your school ( Log it to check your status and you will find this information, this is the aspect that takes time, because most schools dont respond in good time, expecially fi they dont have enough technology to do so)
4. Your scholl responds to Wes and confirm your transcript
5. WES evaluates your result and send you a US equivalency of your degree
And you are good to go

It depends on your interest, and age(which may not really be a problem)

There are somany professions that are available
All the salaries my vary and I am quoting on the average for starter, please note that they will be a little to the right and a little to the left

1. Correctional officers requires GED which is equivalent to O level (this job is prison warder job) they pay between $15 to $19 and hour for starters, overtime may be avilable dependiing on the state
2. Nursing career starts from CNA $10 to $13 per hour for entry level; LPN $15 to $25 per hour, RN $23 to $35, BSN $45,oo to $60,000 per year
3. You can go to university to get degrees (Accountants, Auditors, Health managment specialist, information system specialist, DBA, Social workers etc)
4. if you already have degrees, you may proceed to do a masters or MBA
5. You can go to community colleges, they are relatively cheap
6. You may apply for jobs in the state
7. Let someone help you with your resume, if you need a white collar job
8. Fratanize with the right set of people
9 Pay attention to details

10. Get yourself a note pad (jotter) and make sure you write down every information you come accross, as they will evaporate from your brain over time

Also note, do not pay anybody to get you a job, you may pay for your resume if you like, there also free helps available, but you do not pay any agency to get you a job, if anyone ask you for money to get you a job, it is a scam

Also, if you dont drive, this will be a very good opportunity for you to learn it, especially if you are over 16 years of age

Please improve your computer skills, especially with microsoft words, extra may include excell, powerpoint, access and all you can learn about computer, please and please

akiayo: Thanks a lot for your information
pls how do you resolve date of birth issue when the day and month is not correct but the year is? though i have submitted the forms like that. but i want ask if there is still way out if i do want to change it. Could it mean a visa denial? Please help.

In all honesty, you may have to adopt that date of birth, or try your luck and get a supporting document to back the correct date up, I dont know what good that will do you, but US takes date of birth issues very seriously

Darhmee: Hello Guys

Pls i have a question. My mom won the lottery and she registered as married with me, he daughter. But now that we won, my dad doesnt wanna go with us. Hope that wont affect us at the interview and does my mom have to go to the interview with a marriage certificate, family pictures or something? Response will be highly appreciated.

Who is the principal applicant, if your mum, then let her go with her marriage certificate on the day of the interview, that will cover it, it is okay to state that her husband does not wish to be botherered with the trip, I dont blame the man, America is stressful.

But if your dad or your mum's husband is the principal applicant then your need to start begging him, because he is the pilot, and the plane will not move if the pilot is absent, the co-pilot will not play a very vital role in this regard

As a matter of fact most employers have online jobsite that you can apply through, when i say most, I mean about 95%.

Now the issue is, will they pull up your application and call you for interviews? that will depend on your qualifications and job experience, but dont be scared, people have made it, and you will make it
Also if you take time to read what I posted earlier, I included some links, click on them and you will see sites where you can look into to see job vacancies in different organizations.

You neen to learn how to write your resume, youtube.com is a very useful tool, you will have to pick piece and pieces from here and there, but the first thing is to make up your mind on what you want to do.

Let’s take an example of someone who has a degree in economics in Nigeria, it is regarded as Social sciences in Nigeria, but in the US, they have different specialization, like policy research, development economics and so on, you can as well diversify into accounting and specialize in auditing or accounting.
If you want to be an accountant, you must know your excel, you can learn so much from youtube.com or http://www.gcflearnfree.org/excel also try http://excelexposure.com/ You may specialize as a cost accountant, tax accountant and so forth.
You want to be an auditor; you may be external auditor, internal auditor, investigator, information systems auditor etc
What do you need to do?
Go to google.com com and type 'jobs for economists' you will notice a various range of job titles, with different experience levels and certifications, also note the job responsibilities, ask yourself, if these things are stuffs that you are comfortable doing, if not, how can you learn about them, surround yourself with people that do similar things and are willing to teach you, use YouTube, research on the internet, a lot of things will help.

Do you want to go back to school, make sure you talk to career councilors, there is nothing like dumb question, always ask for verifications.
Improve your spoken and written English.
For professionals:
There certifications, (called professional exams in Nigeria), be prepared to write those if you wish to be in the corporate industry and remain competitive
