Leebeedo: Nigeria is doomed! I live and work in Lafia and I want to give u guys a full gist of what really happened.
Everything boils down to 2015 gubernatorial race. The Egon people said they are tired of been ruled by foreigners (i.e migrants from Maiduguri) which the current governor Umaru Tanko Almakura and the emir of Lafia are and so they’ve started preparing for 2015 elections. The militia group actually recruited youths but they never did it forcefully, Egon youths voluntarily enlisted themselves because we never heard of such occurrence @ the church (Egons are predominantly Christians, say 98%). Sometimes, we see the militia group matching around Lafia peacefully with their black uniform not disturbing anyone or causing mayhem and even sometimes, we see their leader drive around his SUV robed with all sort of charms and we laughed.
The governor got scared because of the growing strength of the militia and even attacked them severally through Fulani herdsmen, they even killed a Fulani herdsman close to my house early this year.
The governor’s second shot was through the emir. He invited the chief priest to his palace and tried to charm him but the chief priest defeated him and it was even rumoured that the emir was dead that period. (RUMOUR)
Discovering that he couldn’t succeed with his Fulani herdsmen and the emir strategy, he decided to use the police, SSS and civil defence guys through the commissioner of police, one stupid Yoruba man that doesn’t know his job and really good at driving around Lafia with his dead BMW disturbing with siren sound. The commissioner fell for it and he sent his boys to arrest the chief priest of the militia. They claim to have gone there peacefully to arrest him, but ask why they went with machine guns. The killed some of the militia guys but the militia wiped them all, just about 6 of them escaped. I don’t think the militia group used guns because I went to the hospital where they deposited their remains (Dalahatu Specialist Hospital at Shendam road) and I saw deep cutlass cuts on them and I also saw stuffs like blue powder on them, they were burnt and were over 100 in number. Immediately this happened, the governor ran to Abuja and later ran to kano probably to meet with the emir. The commissioner cried all through but many don’t know why he cried. It’s because he’s to retire in 2 months’ time but now will likely face dismissal.
The candidate egons want to put forward is Solomon Ewugha (not sure of the spelling)

This version of the story sounds authentic to me. It's more logical than others

lain: Nigeria where are we heading to .. More than 20 policemen killed.. Jonathan is always meeting with security chiefs after any massacre which yields fruitless outcome and more massacre.. It wuld take jonathan nothin to set up a black op with the mission to terminate all those causing havoc in this country cause its either he knows them or knows people that knows them .. Since he is scared of applying justice on them, jungle justice should be used but highly covertly, come 2015 the best way for peace is nigeria dividing. I would not support jonathan to lead again neither will i support a northerner or that pdp partner Apc.. We need a new face or we should forget one nigeria
Why are you calling GEJ now? Is he the commissioner of police in that state or you are on cheap drugs!

This shows that there is hardly any crisis in Nigeria without political undertone.Same way Odili used MEND to win election,Modu Sheriff used Boko haram for his election, why should I be surprised if Almakura also used mbatise group to win election ? They are all the same but the innocent people suffer the cause and result of their foolishness.

if the situation in Nasarawa state is not handled well, it will result in the kind of situation we have in Borno today. Boko haram, for 8 years a peaceful preaching group, turned to violence in 2009 when ex-gov Sheriff used Police to be killing their members for political reasons. The Umbatse group is now being labelled a cult to justify the use of govt violence against them by gov Almakura. Unfortunately nigeria police is a willing tool in the hands of corrupt politicians. If you start hearing of bomb blasts and killing of security forces in Nasarawa state you shoudn't be surprised. Nigerian politicians are capable of every evil.
The unfortunate thing is that if the violence start it would take on a religious colouration because Eggon are predominantly christians and their opponents wouldn't necessarily be only christians.

Bad Attitude: ..My Hands Are Clean, Says Embattled Governor
Security operatives in Lafia and families of the 20 policemen who met their untimely death in the hands of Ombatse group, a secret cult in Nasarawa State have accused Governor Ibrahim Tanko Al-Mukura of complicity, alleging that his poor handling of the crises should be blamed for the escalation of violence.
Governor Al-Makura who was away in Owerri, for Governor Rochas Okorocha 2nd year Anniversary, had allegedly ordered the police commissioner to arrest “Baba Lakio” the witch doctor and spiritual head of the Ombatse cult, at a time when there was no crises.
But rather than invite the cult leader, the police allegedly loaded several trucks with armed men and took-off for the village, unknowingly to the police that information has gotten to the group about the planned invasion of the village, which led to the ambush where the 20 policemen were killed.
A security report that is being turned-in from Nasarawa state is blaming the escalation of violence on the one-sided handling of the crises by the Governor, as he refused to ordered the arrest of the mercenaries who have continuously hide under the auspices of grazers to attack local farmers in
17 villages.
The report alleged that it was the poor handling of the crises earlier that led to the non arrest of the mercenaries, even as relief materials were sent to only side of the conflict.
A Top security source in Lafia however claimed that the bloodbath was the outcome of a struggle for supremacy between Ombatse cult group which assisted the governor during the last election and mercenary militia group from Chad, Mali and Niger who were allegedly brought in by the government to dislodge the cult group.
The source alleged that Governor Al-Makura was initiated into the cult group which started as a thuggery enterprise but later metamorphosed into a cult before the last election which led to the governor’s emergence, after his visit to the shrine
It was revealed that the invasion of Lakio village sparked-off so much violence because the Governor who is accused of supporting the mercenaries plotted to use security forces to attack his former cult members for purely political reasons.
The report also pointed that the governor’s anger against the cult group followed recent clashes between the mercenaries and cult members in his home town of Kwandere where the mercenaries were reportedly camped.
According to the security sources, Governor Al-Makura through his elder brother who is a traditional ruler provided a fertile ground for these mercenaries who often spark off communal wars which have remained largely unreported in the last six months.
It was learnt that the mercenaries who are allegedly supporting the Governor Al-Makura’s 2015 re-election bid have so far attacked and destroyed many farming settlements in both Nasarawa South and North Senatorial zones.
This low intensity war in Nasarawa State had led to clashes between grazers and farmers in the affected areas. The grazers are mainly fulanis while the farmers include Eggon, Alogo, Ato, Agalu, Mada, Migili and Tiv communities.
Some of the areas reportedly destroyed include, Bassa, Anita, Angiri, Agbashu, Alago, Duduguru, Burumoupum and Yelwa among others.
Meanwhile, some family members of the deceased policemen are bitter that the Governor used their spouses to fight his selfish political battles.
Al-Makura Reacts
The Governor who has since denied any complicity in crises briefed Vice President Namadi Sambo, stating that “we have a very bitter security problem that has caused the death of some security officers in the state”.
According to him, “Two weeks ago, we discovered a certain militia group holding arms and carrying out cultist activities in the state. Since January, this thing has not abated and in the past two weeks, it took a total different dimension.
“They have been going for one place to another including churches and taking people for that particular ethnic group to come and take portions that are meant to empower them to do what they want to do.
“This escalated and is causing serious concern for the state. We decided to hold security meeting to find a way of solving the problem. The solution was to go to the shrine and pick on the cult leader so that the problem will be solved once and for all.
“As security operatives were approaching the shrine, unknown to them that ambush has been laid for them, these people attacked them and resulted in the death of more than 20 policemen.
“This is a situation that is so grave and I feel it is very important that I come to brief the Vice President about the security situation and to seek assistance so that we can handle the matter once and for all.
“Already, the group that is from Eggon extraction and called Ombatse has been proscribed since the beginning of this year because of the activities of the members. They go from one place to another, harbouring arms, attacking any area that has any conflict with any of their members. The group is banned and its members are those causing this problem in the state and we feel it is necessary to bring this to the notice of the Federal Government.
“Before now, there were one or two arrests. But as a result of yesterday’s event, I am yet to be briefed on the number of arrests that have been made. Already, I learnt that security operatives are making arrangements to see how they can contain the situation. It is on that point that I will know how many arrests have been made.
“The incident happened in a village called Alakyo about 10km from Lafia, the state capital.
“The position of this militia is unacceptable to the government, already we are taking appropriate steps to see that the perpetrators of this act are brought to book.
“That is why I have given the necessary informational the federal level so that by the time we begin to take on these perpetrators, nobody should cast aspersions on the justification.

what i clearly see here is a typical case of fulani vs eggon conflicts gone political(very bad and dangerous) with lots of culprits... from the police CP, to the governor, to the villager cultist involved. RIP to the dead officer(they were setup by their supperiors for political and selfish motives)
this requires a clear case of state of emergency, the governor suspended and all the police officals culpable should be dismissed and tried. these are human lives just wasted because of incompetence and politics.
to the eggon cultist, be prepared for the worst because of your actions(self defence or not), but in the meantime while you can, quickly go and eliminate the killer mercinaries with in your state. show no mercy this time.

This whole saga got to this level because the govt at the top refused to act decisively rather "dashing" amnesty left right and center. The current government has not shown the capacity to punish evil doers and thats why almost everyone is taking to arms.

No action on kidnappers, ritualists, thieves(economic, political, armed robbers),militants, boko harams.

so why wont others spring up?

...what else can one expect from Al-Makura the progeny of Buhari!for the sake of religion, many of our Northern brothers now prefer Nigeriens,Tchadians,Malians etc to fellow Nigerians,it is a matter of fact that, over the years the core North(Hausa-Fulanis)use these foriegners as mercenaries in Bauchi(Tafawa-Belawa region),Plateau,Southern Kaduna,Benue,Taraba,Nasarawa,Adamawa et al for selfish reasons of displacing the minorities and lay claims to their fertile lands and equally use them to put up more population during elections!...isnt it obvious that the heart of boko-haram lies with those foriegners and they are now becoming a serious problem to their Hausa-Fulani host!it is also on record that some members of House and some other officials are nt Nigerians,so the care-free attitude towards Nigeria.

The governor is a confused businessman. Nasarawa is nothing in terms of development n subzero in terms of opportunities. The emir controls everything up to fetching water for a road construction project. Same militia sacked his village, kwandere, some months back n also attacked eggons. Instead of facing issues, he brought security operatives. D fulanis were free to do anything. D omatse group got stronger when they realized d govt was taking sides. The land is full of wickedness and by God's grace, am relocating this year. The emir is even an alien to d place. the moslems hold sway n support their own. D eggons are fed up.
