Okorocha Launches Youth Empowerment Programme by Abagworo(m): 11:27pm On May 21, 2013
In a bid to tackle the high rate of unemployment in Imo State, Governor Rochas Okorocha has launched the Youth Must Work programme aimed at engaging and empowering all unemployed youths in the state.

The programme which was launched at the Heroes Square in Owerri, the Imo State capital, South East Nigeria brought together over 10,000 unemployed graduates from all the 27 local government areas in the state.

The programme is aimed at bringing all unemployed youths in the state together, identifying their different areas of specialisation and empowering them with the necessary tools which will get them fully engaged before they are gainfully employed in their desired jobs.

While decrying the high rate of unemployment in the country, the governor said corruption, selfishness and primitive accumulation of wealth by political leaders had been the major cause of unemployment in the country.

He added that as part of the action plan mapped out for the Youth Must Work programme, the state government had set aside an interest-free loan of N5 billion for thrift arrangement which will aid the youths to set up integrated farming in their communities.

Mr. Okorocha said that government would also sponsor 100 youths to South Africa to train as pilots and 500 of them to Singapore for entrepreneurial training.

Governor Okorocha stated that one of the cardinal objectives of the Youth Must Work programme is to develop the economy of the state through agriculture for which the state government had provided one hectare of land in each of the 560 communities in the state.

Rochas is confused, after sacking the 10000 youths employed by the previous administration, he thought it was an easy job to organize and recruit such number of people. Now he is looking for a way to engage youth right? from where? how is going to achieve it? He said the previous one was political, how is he going to do this one so that it will not be politics since he has less than two years to end his tenure? Those who destroy the past can not make the future. Rochas is clueless and lacks ideas. Last year, he said he signed a MOU with Dade college in florida, a lot of people were hailing him, how is the project fairing? people have forgotten about that one, now another elephant promise, the earlier we realize that Rochas is worst than the previous administration, the better for us. God bless Imo State!

Another white elephant promise, Is high time people should stop given this man attention. Last year he said he went to Dade college in Miami Florida to sign MOU to partner with Imo state colleges, how is the project fairing? He sack 10000 youths recruited by the previous administration and now he is talking of engaging youths, how is going to achieve it since he has less than two years in office.Because as far as am concern, any recruitment or youth empowerment program he will do will still take another one to two years to materialize, then it will be during election era, wont people tag it as political? Those who destroy the past cannot build the future. Rochas is worst than the previous administration. He has succeeded in withholding local government election for two years now, which he used against Ohakim and tagged it fraud, which one has he conducted, he is only using his own men to siphon local govt funds. We are watching him and his pranks in the media!
