nijanigga: What a joke.Gullible Nigerians buy this. Police that will tell you they don' have petrol in their vehicles will answer 7411 call.Nigeria like to jump ship, babies learn to walk after mastering crawling. 7411 is stillbirth
from another angle this number is a good opportunity to checkmate how responsible our security agents are towards distress calls. one can trace the station called and the officers on duty at the time the distres call was directed to them. it's a good development.

Named “7411 bureau of information”, the service also has businesses listings, people finders, driving directions, tax advices, address finders, health histories, record back-up, weather forecasts, reverse phone tracker, and jobs finder.

The technical company in charge of the project quoted the Director of Engineering at the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Mr. Sani Adamu, as saying that “to have easy access into information and life saving tips Nigerians residents can dial 7411 on any phone in Nigeria and +2347411 from outside Nigeria, or access the link on 411ng.com.

The devil is in the details, as the saying goes. Besides, I'm sure most of the 3000 clowns hired to run the system were hired on the basis of the usual padi-padi man-know-man nonsense, with little or no regard for competence. One can't expect too much from these characters.

Guys, be realistic. It takes time between when this number is approved by legislation and agreement are reached with all the telcos to hook up. It's a long process. Part of it is the registration of your SIM card. Also, they're yet to employ the 3,000 workers. Patience is the word for now. I believe strongly that it will work.
Re: Nigeria’s Emergency Number 7411 Goes Live by lordimpaq(m): 5:28am On May 24, 2013
Just tried from my MTN it says it doesn't exist.

In my opinion, a three digit emergency number would have been easy to remember just like in other countries.

better still, we could have still used the existing 199 and make it active and publicize it.

nice idea by the way, but its not working for now, maybe later, they would rectify the fault.

this should have been done before publicizing it, it portrays a job half done...all necessary dependencies should have been cleared before saying the job is done. Nevertheless nice development, it should have been added among GEJ's quick wins but its coming a little late.

Dialled 7411 from Airtel and MTN and it didn't work. Dialled Lagos State's 767 and it connected on first dial from both networks.

Perhaps 7411 only works in Abuja. The website is down too.

The line is too expensive to use in an emergency. Why not make it toll free. And as for the 411ng.com website I wonder who hosted it with such a low bandwidth for a NATIONAL EMERGENCY WEBSITE. #only in Naija
