THE Federal Government may soon commence a clampdown on “extremist groups”, especially the Oodua People’s Congress and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra. http://www.punchng.com/news/fg-may-clamp-down-on-massob-opc/ 1 Like

He talked about OPC yet he didn't talk about MEND which is the most notorious terrorist group in Nigeria after Boko haram;known for oil theft, sea piracy, kidnapping, bunkering and hijacking simply because they are Ijaws . 37 Likes 1 Share |

Interesting! So what happens to Ombatse group, MEND, MOSOP and other ethnic militia groups he didn't mention? MEND has threatened to go to war if he is not re elected and he didn't say anything about it? Jonathan is looking for trouble and he will definitely get it in full dose! 26 Likes |

~Bluetooth: I find myself agreeing with you for the first time. Why threaten non-violent MASSOB, and reforming OPC while MEND is fomenting trouble in the creeks, threatening at one time to attack muslims and mosques, then pipelines and installations? Why not monitor and challenge MEND? And while at it, how about Asari Dokubo and his NDVF, and at personally level Ango, and 'dogs and baboons' - Buhari? 10 Likes |

PointB: Attack Buhari? Are u insayn? Attacking Buhari means only one thing! No opposition - dictatorship;paving the way for your gej's govt to fall like a pack of cards. Seriously Buhari is more than your insolent, rude potrayal in the eyes of millions. 3 Likes |

aurenflani: Didn't he threaten the peace of Nigeria, even more than the other groups mentioned. If security services need to monitor groups and individual who pose security threat, it makes a lot of sense to start with those who wished blood upon 'dogs and baboons.' And Buhari is clearly not above the laws of Nigeria, despite what ignorant folks might think. 4 Likes |

This is silly coming from the Presidency. I agree that all these groups are threats to National Security, however none of them including MEND should be excluded. |

Boko Haram is no more a national threat after its leader were named wanted by the UN anti-terriost unit. So whatever group that had been pin pointed in the mid-term report by the FG are security challanges they had all faced one time or the other... |

To those shouting MEND. MEND has already been considered a terrorist group before.....so there's no need adding them again. I guess this news is refering 'Supposed Armless groups'. Adding MEND is as Useless as adding BOKO HARAM to the list. We already know those two are being fought against. |
Re: FG May Clamp-down On MASSOB, OPC by kizaronto: 9:54am On May 31, 2013 |
Is OPC an extremist group? OPC as I can see for now is a vigilante group bent on maintaining community security where our so-called police has failed. 2 Likes |

I think the inclussion of MASSOB,OPC and (why not ombatse) to the list is just to check the balances of the millitary raid on the boko boys in the north. And also MEND has always been a public enemy and has no need of mentioning. All the same, this is a political comment and will never be enforced against these peacefull groups. 1 Like |
