By Mansur Oladunjoye and Helen Omotayo]

The duo of Assistant Politics Editor, Mansur Oladunjoye and Helen Omotayo during the week, tracked down the Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams, for an interview. He declared that except President Goodluck Jonathan immediately reshuffles his cabinet to accommodate Yoruba people, he may not secure votes from the bloc in 2015. Excerpts:

What is your assessment of allocation of political offices to the regions as it relates to the South-West?

According to the statistics on the positions given to every zones based on states, the South-West is the lowest. Only some South-West states are given 42; whereas many northern states are given 45. The number given to Lagos State is just eight. The only state that has 42 in the entire South-West is Ogun; Oyo State got about 12; and Ondo State about 14. Other states got less than 15. We are talking of parastatals. When you talk of the hierarchy, you find that from number two to 10 in Nigeria today, no Yoruba man is there; the South-West is not there and when you are talking of juicy positions, how many were given to the Yoruba people? From the South-West, the only prominent position is the minister of External Affairs.

We have never witnessed anything like this in the history of our country; even in the time of military, they still gave the Yoruba its due. I had an opportunity to express my feelings to Mr. President some time back. I told him that our people are crying over the marginalisation of the South-West, and that he should do something about it. He told me that day that within two weeks the appointments will be evaluated, and that they would do something about it. It is almost three to four months now and we have not got the result. To read more click here :http://www.mydailynewswatchng.com/2013/06/29/2015-yoruball-give-conditions-to-support-jonathan-gani-adams/

Gani Adam is stupid to say Yoruba will give condition to Jonathan... Jonathan has no place here and an illiterate turned thug leader like Gani Adam can't and his not competent enough to talk on behalf of Yorubas.

Gani Adams seems to have matured over the years, especially his worldview - more than other leaders in our contemporary Nigeria. However, the marginalization of the Yoruba at the national level should be attributed to the strategy of the ACN. The Speaker of house of Rep was zoned to the SW but ACN mobilized their rank and file members to scuttle that. Even if the person being supported by the PDP could be considered as not strong politically, he would have at least been an ear for the Yoruba and sit at the table when some strategic decisions are being taken. Their next highest ranked person at the seat of power, Reuben Abati, is constantly being harangued by his kinsfolk.

Just like his political mentor, and father-in-law, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hon Oyetunde Oladimeji-Ojo, is enmeshed in some controversy surrounding his academic qualifications. He is the husband of Tinubu’s daughter, who has been imposed on Lagosians as the new Iya Oloja. We will recall that Tinubu had issues with his date of birth, his real name, schools he attended and even who is his biological mother.

Hon Oladimeji-Ojo a member of the House of Representatives, who was foisted on the people of Ekiti by Tinubu, may have found his way into the House with fraudulent academic qualifications and credentials.

Checks reveal that Oladimeji-Ojo who represents Ijero/Efon/Ekiti West, claims a date of birth that do not add up when you consider when he claimed he left high school, and got a diploma in journalism.

The lawmaker who was an ex parking attendant in London before his foray into politics claims to have been born in 1979, but was admitted to a journalism school in 1988, which made him nine years old. Besides it is unclear where he spent six years ( 1988-1994), to obtain a diploma.

His time at Senton Secondary School (also 1988-1994), also tallies with the period he spent at the unnamed journalism school. He also claimed a degree in Politics from the University of Greenwich in the United kingdom , just like Asiwaju claimed to have attended a university in Toronto.

Below is his profile from the official website of the National Assembly

I beg to differ wt Gani Adams on this

Even if all appointments were given to d SW alone,if it dosnt translate to cognitive n easily discernable democratic dividend to all d masses of dis country,it wud stil amount to nothing

Wat we kno of appointment by dez political parties dez days is all about empowering dia members alone wtout a concormitant effect on d governed

So away wt any belle-may-full politics based on appeasing a geopoplitical zone!

It is a noted fact that everything about this particular group of people in Nigeria is tribally tinted.
