 Nigeria's Leaders' Shallow Mentality: Even at levels as high as the governor's office, they still subscribe to the stupid mentality of supporting foreign institutions blindly to the detriment of their own. Is the Lagos State government a shareholder in the Manchester United football business or what? How come a British football club, 6,500 kilometres away is being given free advert while the Stationery Stores FC of Lagos State is totally crippled and is not on the world's football radar? I just don’t understand the sense behind these ugly cakes. What purpose do these symbols of cakey "bitter" cakes (with full insignia of Lagos State imposed side by side that of Man U logo) serve the interests of Lagosians except to continually get investments, recognition, etc., out of the state in favour of Manchester, UK which sadly still, did not solicit for the advert in any way? What about the effect this picture will have on unsuspecting, young, impressionable and naive minds in many years to come? I just can't come to terms with this childish idea at Fashola’s 50th birthday. It just steers logic on its head. I love Fashola but I'm really disappointed at this anomaly at his 50th birthday. Hear this! Governor Fashola, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Rotimi Amaechi, the management of Manchester United does not even know you guys exit, so please stop deluding yourselves and get on with the business of empowering your people and country. Congratulations to gov. Fashola on his birthday...it's good to see that the governors of nigeria's two foremost states are friends, they should really work together. I know Wenger likes to be under the radar but it would be superb to get key signings on board to make the planned pre-season tour of Asia for team cohesion before the start of the EPL. Why are people always sentimental and too serious to socialise. The fact that somebody is a governor means he should discard everything he had interest and passion for? Before I make my comment, I have read this same piece on facebook and other noise-making social sites, OP, why not reference where you copied it from? Its good sometimes not to take away completely the effort of others. Next time, table your arguments intelligently and loosen up. These are the things you should be concerned about viz-a-viz.. "DId he use the resources of the state to throw the party?..", Did he use the resources of the state to bake the cake? Is Lagos fund invested secretly in Manchester United without due process?... These are many more intelligent questions are what you need to ask and not this petty story of someone being a foreign fan. In between, the love of football transcends age, religion, race, ethnicity and what have you. No one can question anyone about the club anybody supports. He will not be the first foreigner in position of authority supporting a foreign club neither will he be the last. Get your facts right, Manchester United knows who a Fashola, governor of lagos state is. at least Ferdinand had paid a courtesy visit to him before on behalf of the club.
