The Delta State government has again reiterated its determination to complete all on-going projects so as to leave a legacy of development to Deltans.The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, stated this in Asaba while kick-starting the 2013 Mid-Term Reports of the present administration in the state.Comrade Macaulay said that government had continued to re-energize and strengthen the bureaucratic institutions for more effective coordination towards the attainment of the three point agenda of Peace and Security, Human Capital Development and Infrastructural Development.He highlighted the functions of the office of the SSG to include issuing from time to time notices of policy decisions on programmes of government, prompt attention to all appeals, petitions and reports as well as ensure follow-up actions in the implementation of government decisions.The SSG maintained that his office had contributed immensely to alleviating the plights of the needy, addressing grievances and setting the agenda for government for the overall socioeconomic development of the state.Comrade Macaulay said that the state government through the office of the SSG recently played host to the Economic Development Office of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), adding that the Agency had indicated interest in assisting the state to develop agricultural food chains, aqua-culture, and the stimulation of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).He disclosed that the state government in collaboration with the State Security Council had already waded into the recent hostility between Itsekiri and Ijaws in Warri North Local government, saying that the State Security Council had continued to assist in resolving disputes between Oil and Gas bearing communities, International and Indigenous Oil and Gas companies in the state.In the area of peace, he said, “the state government in its bid to sustain the existing peace, embarked on the appointment of about 1,018 members of Youth and Women Development Committees with the responsibility of grassroots monitoring of youth activism and general information in their areas of operation. These appointments are meant to strengthen the implementation of government policies and ensure proper articulation of its programmes as well as the delivery of projects at the grassroots.”“Other measures employed by the state government to ensure peace and security in the state include the engagement of traditional rulers, chiefs, youth leaders, market women and security agencies in the resolution of conflicts and promotion of peace and the deployment of military personnel to major cities of Asaba, Agbor, Warri and environs.”Comrade Macaulay stated that government had procured and donated brand new Toyota Hilux vehicles and communication gadgets to the state police command and other Security Agencies.Earlier, the commissioner for information, Chike Ogeah Esq., called for a greater synergy among journalists.Ogeah said that the state government is making giant progress in the state with numerous infrastructural developments.

The Secretary to the Delta State Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, has stated that it is economical to build new industries that reviving the ailing ones.Comrade Macaulay stated this when fielding questions from journalists in Asaba during the official commencement of the Mid-Term reports of the activities of his office.He disclosed that before May 29, 2015, the Independent Power Project (IPP) would be completed, adding that the road leading to the IPP site in Oghara had been completed.The SSG reaffirmed the Uduaghan led administration’s commitment in the state to ensure that jobs were created for youths, saying that government would continue to provide an enabling environment to create employment.Comrade Macaulay emphasized that government was determined to complete the Sapele Market and the Stadium in Sapele, even as he said that contractors should be monitored by everybody, particularly the beneficiaries of the projects.He said that the Asaba International Airport was a critical driver of the Delta Beyond Oil, just as he decried the falling standard of journalism practices in the state.
