This problem is actually between the North and the East. From history, you would not find a single outcast/omo ale from Yorubaland that was given a rousing welcome or whatever. We're known for not rewarding our criminal sons and daughters - rather we shunned them and forced them into obscurity. Umaru Dikko, Uba Ahmed, Alhaji Alhaji, Sheu Shagari, Babangida, Abdul-Salam and the rest of the thieves from the North were absorbed back into their clannish Hausa/Fulani enclaves. I am sure if General Bisala, Col. Buka Suka Dimka, Abacha and other dead bastards from the North were to rise up today they would be given a rousing and heroic welcome by their Hausa/Fulani hero worshippers! Look at Babangida- the bastard still walks with his shoulders high without disdain or molestation by his people.
The Easterners are the worst. Ojukoju who masterminded their annihilation via a stupid war of attrition was given a heroic welcome when he came back from his self-imposed exile. They even dashed him a chieftaincy title, "Ikemba." Arthur Nzeribe's antics would have, over the years, won him a place at the shooting range or the guillotine or hangman's noose in Yorubaland; however, the criminal remains a hero in the East. Look at Ibori, Alameyeisiagha, Asari Dokubo, Akpamgbo, Chukwumerije, and the rest of the Eastern thieves and gang bangers - they remain heros among their people. This is NIGERIA.

Dont forget that the Hero you warship in life and in death Chief Obafemi Awolowo was a criminal charged with Treason and inprisoned. He was released by Northerner. And Awo - the ex-convict is still your god.

Adeniyi A.:
Hamza Al-Mustapha returned to a hero's
welcome in Kano, complete with an airport
reception, an open-jeep convoy to
Government House, our man waving to the
crowd like a returnee founding father of
Nigeria. Even Boko Haram, which had not
hesitated to attack the Emir in the past,
respectfully observed the Al-Mustapha day in
Kano. Of course the show would not be
complete if he didn't say he has forgiven us.
Unlike George Zimmerman's punks who
always get away, the punks of Nigeria always
return from prison to forgive those they stole
from - or the surviving relatives of patriots
they assassinated. Before him, Alamsco
returned to a hero's welcome and also
forgave us. Tafa Balogun returned to a hero's
welcome and forgave us. Bode George
returned to a gigantic hero's welcome and
forgave us. Back in the day, the best of the
best among us used to return to a hero's
welcome from international triumphs in their
respective areas of accomplishment -
sportsmen and women, technocrats,
intellectuals, etc. The contingent to the 1984
Olympics returned to a hero's welcome.
Soyinka returned from Stockholm to a hero's
welcome in 1986. Now we have produced
almost two generations of Nigerians for
whom the very idea of a hero's welcome is
nothing more than the owambe spectacle of
criminals returning from prison to become
political players and shapers of public
opinion, feted in Government Houses by
imbeciles misusing the apparatuses of state.
At this rate, when Ibori is done paying his
debt to the Queen of England, I foresee a
presidential plane being dispatched to
London to fetch him from the Queen's prison.
I foresee a state reception in Abuja. I foresee
him subsequently entering Oghara on a
donkey requisitioned for the occasion, with
hundreds of thousands of youths waving
palm fronds and singing hosanna in the
highest. Ibori will forgive Nigerians and tell us
to go and sin no more. Lets not kid ourselves
by saying that these sordid spectacles are a
reflection of the punks in the ruling class. Let
us stop Pyrrhic and escapist explanations,
saying that the returnee criminals rent the
crowds. It no longer washes. These spectacles
are a reflection of us. Let us just say that we
have no desire or are not ready to end it.
Anway sha, I thank Hamza Al-Mustapha for
being so magnanimous as to forgive us. Allah
be praised.

oh! Wish i could write so well, the facts are so articulated.
Well done!!

Be sure of this: popularity is not a proof of righteousness. In a land where the corrupt are in majority, the winner is not always right. The world is evolving into a place where the truth is victimized. This is one good reason why God is coming soon to overthrow all governments. This is the solid consolation of the diminishing just.

This problem is actually between the North and the East. From history, you would not find a single outcast/omo ale from Yorubaland that was given a rousing welcome or whatever. We're known for not rewarding our criminal sons and daughters - rather we shunned them and forced them into obscurity. Chief Adisa Akinloye and Richard Akinjide remain ignobly hated by all and sundry. When we heard the news of Akinloye's involvement in a ghastly auto accident in London, England, the whole of Ibadan was thrown into a party mood; all the women of Ibadan were dancing and jubilating. Though Akinloye luckily survived the accident, and later returned home to a hardknocked hatred by his own Ibadan brethren till he died. Richard Akinjide and Alao Arisekola are hated seriously in Ibadan and across Yorubaland. General Oladipo Diya can't even walk freely in Yorubaland without being jeered and sneered. Olusegun Obasanjo came out of prison and was met with a bileful of hostility by the Yoruba people. We didn't even vote for him. And he remains yet unpopular among Yoruba folks even with his two-term reigns as Nigeria's President. Remember how long it took us to forgive MKO Abiola when he became Awolowo's worst nightmare. We still regard the likes of Remi Fani Kayode (that bastard Femi's father) and Samuel Oladoke Akintola as two-faced traitors and outcasts. Shonekan of the discredited ING is still walking around in shame. These are our sons (dead and alive), however, while their sins and culpability lasted we shunned, cursed, and disowned them. Yes, they're all Yoruba, but became reprobates when they erred. We did not reward them. They remain in our bad book.
The same cannot be said about our brethren in the North and the East. Are Nigerians surprise, Is Fredrick not a Yorubaman ?, the Hausa/Fulani that killed his brother Abiola are the Masters of Yorubas, while the Yorubas are their beloved well fed Slaves, have you forgotten how Jakande sold Awolowo, out of anger Awolowo went to an Igbo man shop and bought OTapiapia and made history, was it not Yoruba Obas that sold Abiola for #100million, go and investigate if am lying,

GEJ cant claim he is nt aware of all these development he need a ruthless fellow like Fasheun and Al-mustapha to plan his destruction in 2015. Lets wait and see what will happen then.

Money is not, the Love of money is the root of all evil.

Yes, but Yorubas sanctioned her death, if not tell me the reason Yorubas Obas sold Abiola to Hausa/Fulani North for #100 million.

@akanbi edu, I chose not to reply the dunce because he's an inarticulate gooro-eating malam! It would have amounted to a waste of time, believe me. The fool is certainly uninformed; Gowon is still alive, tell the clown to ask him who was both the backbone and the bedrock of his regime. I'm 100% sure that Yakubu will jump up and tell you that Awolowo saved him, his regime, and Nigeria from the brink of disaster. The whole world knows that the "treasonable felony" case was a Machiavellian, trumped up charge devilishly orchestrated by that good-for-nothing and evil Nnamdi Azikiwe. But, look at both of them today, although dead and gone, but Azikiwe's "legacy" or the lack thereof is shrouded in obscurity while Obafemi Awolowo is celebrated by all and sundry. I don't remember the last time the Yiiiibos openly celebrated Azikiwe's 'birthday' - the devil is definitely gone with the wind!

The connection is that Yorubas will always do the bidding of the northerners. Mustapha was in lagos kirikiri prison for the past 14 years and Yorubas didn't do anything to him even when Obasanjo was in power. Today appeal court have set the brilliant and gallant soldier free, they are making so much noise as usual, just like when Abiola was killed too.

So yourubas should walk into kirikiri and kill Mustapha. U are indeed confused.

Why
do we route most of the thread into tribal path? Lets remember that
human cognitive reasoning is composed of inherited and learned traits
that includes orientation and background (religion, culture, tribe,
etc.) and play supportive roles to our reasoning. Lets use these factors
to solve our collective problems by constructively
commenting/critiquing instead of these tribal e-war. To the topic,
I still wonder why OBJ did not convict Mustapha of the speculated
charges if he is guilty going by what OBJ went through by Mustapha and
his Oga? God knows why He kept him till now, maybe to unveil their own
ordeal. Lets keep watching as the events unfold.
