@op, it's real sad. I lost my iphone to a pickpocket at my bro's wedding in Lagos less than a year ago too. It can be very disheartening. Good to see you've moved on though.

LOOOOL at your story. Like are you for real?
When you attend owambe parties in Lagos, you would see uninvited guest lurking around especially young ones who are probably there to eat and or steal. Never keep huge sum of money in your pocket or wear flowing agbada if you are male.
You are obviously not a Lag babe.
Talking bout carrying ipad 3 all around?
If the "real owners"/Tinubu boys requested for "their ipad", you won't give them?

It's not her fault. Experience is the best teacher.

I'll share my story, thieves are savvy and desperate even when your handbag is attached to your body.

I decided to leave the Island to go to a party close to Akute. My driver took my friends and I there. Can't remember the exact location. It was a Kool place sha - everything was cheap in comparison to Island prices. I had a male purse, that I hooked around my neck.

I had 2000 dollars plus 25k naira in it.

I don't know of its voodoo or how it happened but somehow the dollars disappeared. How the thieves stole the money from my man purse is still beyond me until today.

Never going off the Island ever again and it's my brothers wedding next year.... I know thieves are gonna be lurking.

Thx for the reminder. People have lost thier humanity.

After you were inebriated? You mean to tell fellow NLrs that you didn't spray that ish on some hungry-a.s.re nappy b.itches?
Blame it on the alco........

Its ok to be vigilant but some nigerians go to the extent of blaming the innocent.. Here's my story... This happened at Garison in Port harcourt. An
elderly man(in his 50's) accused me of being a
pickpocket in front of a massive crowd
.It happened around 6pm at Garison busstop..(PH)
They were so many people waiting to board
either a taxi or a bus heading towards rumola..
So once a car stops, people tend to drag or
push each other just to enter any commercial
vehicle.. I waited for a car close to 30 minutes
and decided to do the dragging game. A car
came and I was trying to struggle close to d
back door, then I mistakenly touched one
elderly man(who was also struggling to enter)
by his back(close to his pocket area and not
inside his pocket).. It was a mistake cos we
were all pushing and dragging with our hands..
The guy shouted that I was a theif.. That he
will slap me(see me, see wahala).. Everybody
(close to a 100) focused on the scene.. I
shouted back and explained to him.. The guy
told me to shut up.. I dragged and explained
even to others.. But the crowd seemed to
believe the man(I even heard a lady saying na
so dem go dey dress well dey thief). Can u
imagine the embarrassment.. One of the
agberos wanted to bring out tyre.. But another
agbero stopped him and told me to leave the
man.. He probably saved me. Cos I think I
would have been brutally injured or killed if it
were to be some other places in nigeria(don't
want to mention names).. The man was still
shouting and I shouted back while explaining..
He later boarded a vehicle and I left the scene.
Majority of d crowd started avoiding me after
my explanation.. How can I be a pickpocket
when I'm a graduate. Its so sad.. I JUST DONT
KNOW WHY MOST NIGERIANS ARE NAÏVE AND
SO QUICK TO BELIEVE. So please, if u are
stocked in a bus stop
, be careful how u place ur hand when
dragging with people just to enter a bus or taxi
cos someone might wrongly accuse you..
THAT'S THE MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT IN
MY LIFE..

Do you have find my ipad? Go here icloud.com and put in your log in details, click on find my ipad and it should find your ipad if it is online -connected to the internet. Try that, it also shows the last known location of your ipad. Maybe that can help you give you a lead. Good luck

omoikhefue: Im hurting so much on the inside and decided to write who knows I just might heal …

It was a wet Thursday 11th July and I was excited so much so that i couldn't wait to leave the office and most importantly rock my asoebi (it was my first velvet ever and i loved the combination) Deborah Lawson Event place omole was the venue and my beautiful friend from camp was the bride. she's a rare one I must say, down to earth and extremely cheerful you can almost refer to her as a razz yoruba girl so you imagine the shock when I discovered she was actually a foreign student: made me appreciate her even more.

I got to the venue at about 3pm and was settled in no time. My bride was all smiles, everything was going perfectly well Lolo 1 from Wazobia fm was cranking us up, for the first time in a very long time I snapped the finest pix ever without much gloss and editing... everything going smoothly till it was time for single ladies and the bouquet catching. I honestly do not partake in the whole single ladies and bouquet campaign but lolo won’t let us be, at some point the bride had to call us out. Purse on my chair and my offfice bag wedging it, off we went dragging ourselves along the whole episode didn’t last upto 2mins.

I got back to my seat and my office bag was on the floor with my purse nowhere in sight. The purse was specially made by my mum so there’s no replica of it out there. At first I thought it was some kinda expensive joke but it the reality of it dawned on me in no time. I was raged. I have never being so confused I pulled the table cloth hoping to finding it under the table no sight of it; I asked everyone around me rather they answered me with even more questios. it was just too good to be true... I was sure I was gonna faint so I off my shoes to get a grip of myself (I had my ipad3 in that purse, in my wallet were 3atm card, my driver's licence, my HMO cards, my Unilag ID card I refused submitting in exchange for my certificate, my passports photos(right from when I cut my hair, did dreads, dyed my hair you name it, my money!! I made a withdrawal of 10k with intent to cab home, the beautiful pix I snapped at the reception hoping to give my mum, my mobile phone...) everyone's talking at the same time "who could have done this? Where did you leave this bag? Are you sure you didn’t drop it somewhere? what was inside? on and on

Words fail to describe the trauma I went through, I felt so much pain, anger, bitterness and resentment all at once and finally the tears came flooding down my cheeks (last I cried so hard was when I lost a close friend at Unilag). All at once, everybody became a suspect. I suddenly became stranded and desperate for help
In all it’s a bitter pill I had to swallow and I learnt my lesson the hard way, its so unfortunate you no longer know who truly is an invited guest. I suspect and still suspect the caterers and cameramen but the deeds been done already. I love attending weddings but I can certainly tell you that crave just died a most painful death … That’s how they began making donations for my transport I cried all the way to festac could not deal with the situation at all.

Experience is not the best teacher so learn from mine; let me not bore you with the whole police report that’s another ache on its own. In all Im grateful and expectant for even better things.

Cheers!

Are you talking about Banana Island or Lagos Island

Cos if it's the Lagos Island I know, your cocoon of safety is questionable.

Unfortunately, someone questioned leaving such stuff unattended to, it's not really a straightforward case of losing compassion but 'Dis is Lagos', Eko o gba gbere!

The annoying part is if the thief was caught, s/he would have said it was the devil meanwhile, s/he is the major problem. Lesson learnt though cos I can be very careless.

This post is very very annoying, how can somebody in her right senses in this age and time in lagos leave personal belongings carelessly and when it is picked you come to NL to complain. Are you a learner?

Everybody knows that the city is just a hustlers town where anything can happen. So in my mind i know any well brought real Lagosian can never fall 'mugu' like that. It clearly shows that this is one of them careless girls in this town.
Abeg jo. Thank your stars that's all that was taken.

One needs to be careful at events these days.

I was at AY live last easter Sunday. The show had ended, I put my phone in my pocket and walked out of the hall.

I put my hand back in my pocket to pick my phone but did not feel anything.

It dawned on me that my pocket has been picked, in the space of 60 seconds. I smiled and said to myself, them don outsmart me for Lagos.

so you are the well brought real Lagosian who has been battered, trampled upon, broken and exploited by the hardship of the city such that your conscience's death and you live ur everyday life in vengence? or you are the well brought lagosian who lives in constant fear of the unknown, chopping and cleaning mouth as well as suffering and smiling? or the well brought real lagosian who has been robbed of your basic human rights and have willfully accepted it as a way of life?... sorry to burst your bubble i was not brought up in that manner and i refuse to adopt such as a norm

unfortunately for all you holier than thou people when you eventually fall, you come crashing so hard scattering like pack of cards and would be too shame faced to share your predicament but would rather dwell in your self afflicted misery. I am human therefore not perfect, not only do i make mistakes, i acknowledge my wrongs and learn from it.
