manny4life: Everyone is here recommending surgery, don't u think the OP knows that?

I was expecting someone to talk about how to seek financial help since the father of the baby is poor...

.
The poster initially didn't know what its called until I told him. The initial title was to know what kind of disability it is and there was no mention of financial aid

Surgical correction is free at the national orthopaedic hospital igbobi lagos. Nothing to worry about here as the outcome of the surgical procedures are usually excellent.

There are NGO's that offer free surgery for cases like these.

The treatment is sponsored by 'Smile Train Project', a Non -Governmental Organisation. Its a U.S based organization and its funded through Collins Powell and other donor agencies.

There is another one "Health, Education, Work and Shelter Foundation (HEWF)", HEWF Founder/President, is Remi Adeseun. They should try and see the Consultant and Head of Burns and Plastic Unit, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Prof Idowu Fadeyibi. He should be able to help.

There is also Cleft Care Nigerian Foundation Director of the foundation is Dr. Seidu Adebayo Bello, They should be reachable at the Kuje General Hospital and Bwari General Hospital in Abuja.

They should seek information from general hospitals. I'm sure God will help them out.

Humans are combinations and formations of cells, the ones the forms better are the lucky ones.Although external factors contribute to how we form in the form in the womb, otherwise it is purely magical and sequential from copulation, conception, contraction and birth.

Is it not rather a funny world.. One baby is born is so much luxury and affluence into the Royal family in the United Kingdom and might become king someday and another baby is Born with a condition to poor parents and yet we don't have a choice where we are born or how we are born or to whom we are born..

Seriously?, Mr man you don't know me and you don't know why I asked the question. of course I know Niger delta devt agency but couldn't nddc have been some other organisation?. So did you adore today know that nddc offers free medical surgery. I don't blame you, because we are all on Nairaland you think you can talk to people anyhow.
Re: Baby Born With Cleft Lip In Ogun - Please Help! by gedtalks(m): 8:35pm On Jul 24, 2013
honey86: its called cleft lip. This is why it is important to use folic acid when you start planning to get pregnant and continue till the pregnancy is about 4 months. The only solution is constructive surgery. May God help us all.

Nairalanders take note of this: it is said that ''to be informed will prevent you from being deformed''. This statement comes to reality here. If only the parents of this poor boy had this information early enough, their son wouldn't have been like this. The lesson I've learnt here today is this: Folic acid is a ''must use'' before and after conception

I have participated in a number of reconstructions. It is free in many centres in Nigeria, sponsored by Smile Train™. Don't worry, all will be well. If they hAve gone to UCH, FINE. They should be co-operative with the doctors and follow instructions.
They should avoid being superstitious and the father should stand by and support the mother, because many times, the father neglects or even run away

University College Hospital Ibadan should be the first point of call, if the baby was delivered there they will carry out a free surgery, though cost of operation is very little.
