She can name her child Jesus. Actually, Jesus and Joshua mean the same thing. Jesus is the Greek word for "God saves", while Joshua is the Hebrew word. But she should not add Christ to the name. There are many people that bear Jesus, which is not bad at all. But there is only one Christ. Jesus Christ! He's the Only Anointed One. He anoints others. So she should not name her child Christ. The word "Christ" comes from the Greek translation of the Hebrew Messiah, which means "anointed". It became the name proper to Jesus ONLY because He accomplished PERFECTLY the divine mission that "Christ" signifies. |

There is absolutely nothing wrong in naming your child "Jesus". In some parts of the world, the name is common. Its only here in Niger-area that... |
| Re: . by Dagoma: 11:49am On Aug 11, 2013 |
There is no problem in that, the problem is the source of the child (whether blessed with marriage or bastard). As per ur own case, naming him Jesus or not is helpless because the child is not blessed with marriage. You can call him whatever you like, thats your problem. |
@OP I don't think there is anything wrong in this.. Reason: Jesus is actually a Hebrew name that is originally spelt and pronounced as Yeshua, meaning Deliverer or Rescuer.. Many Hispanics also name their children Jesus pronounces 'ye sue'. So no biggie here. Now Christ is not a name per se but an adjective that qualifies Jesus. That's why the bible would have passages where Jesus was asked ' are you the Christ'. This is because Christ simply means 'messiah', hence the referring to Jesus as Jesus the Christ. So if your friend chooses to name her child Jesus Christ, it's not a problem at all. The name wasn't what made Jesus who he was.
Thus says the Juju himself. ![]() |

But it could av been put better. Let me rephrase @op why would your girlfriend consider naming her unborn child Jesus Christ? Does the child's father has a say in the naming of the child or not? Do that child av a father at all, if Christ is to be his surname ![]() |

Nothing is wrong with it. If 'CHRIST' means messiah. There could be many messiahs. Family messiah Community messiah Political messiah State or country messiah even Continent messiah. |

orgasticdance: ok past.T thats sacred, but can i name my unborn twins alpha and omegaFunny, do u know what Alpha n Omega means? It means A n Z, or beginning n end, so why not. It is not what u call ur child per se, it is the meaning attached to that name. But why would u want to call ur child those names, there must be reasons? |

if u name him Jesus Christ where ur name as him surname go come enter na? |
| Re: . by Nobody: 12:34pm On Aug 11, 2013 |
It's not naming the child 'Jesus Christ' that is absurd. It is the reason ur friend gave for wanting to give her child the name, 'so that people won't hurt him'. The real Jesus himself was persecuted and killed. Go figure. |
| Re: . by Wadosky(m): 12:35pm On Aug 11, 2013 |
naming ur child jesus will mount unnecessary pressure on him when growing up.what if he doesn't live a jesus kind of life and be subjected to a life time of mockery. .......I bet he will change the name when he is wise enough. |
