Todays haevy morning downpour was not without its usual adverse effect of flooding especially in Ejigbo area of Lagos state. Before the terrible flood of today, ejigbo road has constituted untold fear in the minds of road users. Todays rain brought so much pains for those living in Ikotun Egbe, Ijegun, Igando, Abaranje and a host of heavily populated parts
of Alimosho who had to drive or pass through this ejigbo to places like Cele Express, Isolo, Oshodi, Mushin, Lagos island and other parts of Lagos. And the worst part of it is that there are no alternative routes from this terrible part of ejigbo.

Its a pity to note that while other countries are making advancement and breakthrough in science and technology, our leaders keep humiliating us with their inability to find a lasting solution to the perennial flood in the country.

In Ejigbo, the basic solution to this is for the authourities consigned to identify the direction of the water flow and channel the flood towards that direction. But in the case of Ejigbo the engineers at the site who have been dredging the gutters along ile epo~Ori oke route seem to be acting towards selling the clay sand dredged out than the actual channelisation of the drain water.

Ordinarily, the natural route for the water is to channel it through and underground tunnel across ikotun~isolo road towards the market opposite which belongs to the Ojon of Ejigboland.

Common sense tells us that water flows from high level areas to low level areas. But this clear fact is not being displayed in the channelisation of Ejigbo flood by the local engineers.

With the way things are now, it does not seem that the authority recognizes that there are lots of tax payers and many small scale enterprises in tese areas who are contributing their owwn quotas towards the economic development of the state.

One can only hope that freedom will come the way of the people someday.
