Nigeria

Proforce Defence PF2 LAV been offered to the Nigerian Air Force.

Better. It should be purchased for the Airforce Regiment instead of those Polish Scorpion vehicles.

Interesting read. However Nigeria doesn´t depend on France. It is mutual co-operation. By the way we have defence and economic agreements with France. Yes, France has treaties with it´s neighbors like Cameroun but even there in the Bakassi Peninsula it was present not with direct military engagement but with French military advisers still we invaded and occupied the peninsula successfully. They used the option available to them the world court. President Obasanjo considered that the loss of Bakassi didn´t affect Nigeria´s strategic oil reserves and accepted the ICJ ruling which many believe was politicised. Thats the farthest they came. Cameroun in Paul Biya is the foremost problem of Nigeria in francophone Africa and we´ve had worse before in Felix Houphouet-Boigny still it was by proxy means the French meddled by arming and training Biafrans.

Today aside Cameroun we generally enjoy good relations with francophone countries where our interests align with the french. With Cameroun It has been better under President Buhari but will be much better with Biya´s exit.

Regional domination is Nigeria´s natural rights and the Nigerians leave no one in doubt about that including the french. The french and Nigeria will not fight a war. Our interests on foreign intervention have mostly aligned. No one is ruling out miscalculation as there is no permanent friend or enemy. When Abraham Lincoln was asked during the American civil what America´s response should be to domineering European powers, he said they should be allowed to flex their muscles while America should focus on its domestic challenges to grow and that inevitably they would become more powerful than Britain and France. His prediction came true. This Nigeria should do. The European powers like France are in decline. Countries with demographics like Nigeria are on the rise and will dwarf France in 25 odd years.

The goal should be maintain commensurate military strength to deter aggressors real and imagined and power projection capabilities for regional security and push to attain the status of a meduim power in the short term. We are already among the 20 largest economies in the world. Why look for trouble.
you write well
we all both agree on that, we must consentrate on Nigeria first, but we can't be blinded. You said we have good relationship with the others west African country what I agree to 50% indeed it is far better than it was, but an event showed that those countries are not that on the Nigeria side.. Not somany months back Nentanyahou said something very embarrassing about Nigeria, then he came in Africa to a summit with ECOWAS countries, eventualy Nigeria didnt went there but the others head of states welcome him with huge smiles and all the stuff, I dont think the Germans, Chinese or Russians in the same position we are going to see ther allies welcome him in thise way, and that is even if they welcome him...

We are going a little bit off topic, but I can assure you I usualy follow France 24 and on this channel, Nigeria is the bad boy in Africa with many ambitions blabla we all know the song. Thats why I always say Algeria did the right think after being slaped they opted for Russia + Germany ... Even as an economic partner, France doesnt stand in front of Germany or even the other half-friend that we have UK.

I dont want problems Im not crazy lol Nigeria currently has no chance... But we must put France in mind some times when we procure weapons just a little bit will be enough. And be sure that if we want to be the largest partner of all those countries, dicide in the region, we need to put those guys in mind in 1st place...

I completely agree. Let's see if the Nigerian Air Force would purchase it.

Something to chew on..... and argue

TOP TEN MOST POWERFUL TANKS IN AFRICA

http://www.africanmilitaryblog.com/2017/09/top-ten-most-powerful-main-battle-tanks.html

#no blasphemous claims.... please
Can't really argue with the list......Olifant is under gunned hence the ranking.....however slap Denels 120mm gun on the Olifant and you have a whole other beast.

In terms of protection the Mk1b and Mk2 is up there with most modern tanks and like most SAn vehicles it boasts pretty insane mine protection compared to most tanks.

The El-Mellah (which means “Sailor” in Arabic) has been built at Remontowa Shipbuilding in Gdansk, a member of Remontowa Holding capital group for the Algerian Navy.

The three-masted frigate will be used by naval academy cadets to improve their marine and navigation skills. The crew is composed of 222 officers and sailors including 120 cadets. Additionally, like the majority of sailing ships, it will play a representative role abroad also participating in competitions, regattas and international meetings.

so this is where the SAAF Cheetah ended up??

sad!! SAAF could as well given it to Argentina, Peru or Chile. Or some poor African country instead of letting it go to waste.

.
to think of all those cutting edge technology crammed into those planes.... sad

No. Cheetahs ended up in Ecuador. Not every air frame was salvageable, so they end up in such places.
Denel also uses one for tests.

Most of the Cheetah Cs and Ds were sold to Ecuador ,obviously quite a few were also scrapped for spares as part of the sale.

Those cutting edge technologies have also been removed......The EW suite of the Cheetah C is still classified till this day.

You know its a troll account right?

If you are looking for some real banter, follow the (authenticated - yes, real) account for the Russian embassy in London. I dont know who they have running that account, but goddamn the man is taking trolling to previously unheard of levels.

Don´t take the bait. It´s fake news. There is no military solution to North Korea short of outright destruction by US Navy nuclear submarines and or strategic bombers. North Korea is America´s geo-political problem to solve not Nigeria´s.

Expenditure derived from own revenue i.e. in your own budget, no foreign assistance/aid.

Maybe maintaining and operating 50 jets, 70+ helicopters, subs and frigates doesn't come cheap. wink
