Beautiful aircraft.

However one thing i don't like with Russian aircrafts are there bland paint schemes. This aircraft would look so much better in grey.

Great video. The French really took the risk to push north for a deceive strike towards Gao with mainly light vehicles. They had to arrive before the enemy could size larger portions of the infrastructure there. Americans would never do so, they would wait for heavy support and better protected transports even it would take days.
The French are a dependable military partner. No if, but 's or maybe's when you have a military cooperation agreement with them. They are a NATO member with a fully independent intervention force.

Apart from the as$ whooping they got in WW2 from the Germans, they've been able to raise a strong, independent military. Although they lack enough air lift capability for a nation of their size.

French operations in Mali was a resounding success.

Most big European and American special forces are efficient because they have dedicated air reasources. Imagine storming an area with your very own attack helicopters, transport helicopters and who knows possibly fighter jets. It gives the operator on the ground belief.

Most of these SF units are primarily Forward Air Controllers. They don't need to advance using small arms and light machine guns when they can readily call in airstrikes and artillery.

They make use of the same footage 90% of the time. No much difference between the two.

South Africa

Nigeria - Imported

Austria

You can see all of them, not even one is different. They are all built a certain way. That's what Nigeria also did. We didn't re-invent any wheel.

I watched French special forces conduct an assault landing with them in Mali and my jaw nearly broke. I immediately fell in love.

A C-130 dropped operators off in the middle of an abandoned airport and immediately flew out. The entire operation lasted just 3 minutes.

Well, ours is different

Don't be disingenuous, frontal armour, yes. Not all round. The other areas are exposed.

Fyi,Jean-Fraude is responsible for all this. Early 2012 Germany demanded back its gold from Paris,IIRC at least 300 tonnes, dating from post WW2 agreements.

Reported in an exclusive by German newspaper Handelsblatt, Buba intends to remove some of its gold held in New York, and all of the gold held by the Banque de France. Considering various representatives of the German central bank denied claims that they would be looking into repatriating the gold bullion investments, one has to wonder what’s made them take such a decision.
http://therealasset.co.uk/german-gold-repatriation-bundesbank/

Some speculated it was to back the intended return of the deutschemark but whatever the reason the most painful aspects of French history for the past 150 or so years have followed a certain script: Quite reasonable requests are made by their Teutonic neighbour which are then haughtily refused leading to an ocean of arse kicking by German jackboots in places like Sedan 1870,Verdun 1915 and Dunkerque 1940.

This time round they played smart! Using local proxies trained by the French CIA,the DGSE,they instituted series of false flag events in the Sahel thas would legitimise the presence of French troops in the Sahel. Mali has I think 900 known tonnes of gold, while the wider region is awash with oil and uranium. Voila-Operation Serval was born! You didn't think all those Sahelian Al Qaeda groups were spontaneous, did you?

My,my,my,but being a African soldier in the eyes of the Western world is like being the sewage inspector or at best the dog catcher. You'll be dissed, laughed at and lectured by everybody-which is nothing new for the black man,but still. I was looking at some Sahel info and just had to paste this here:
Except for rented MI-8 and MI-24 helicopters leased from the Ukraine and Russia, most of Africa is bereft of air mobile equipment. They are certainly bereft of African pilots (other than South Africans and a small band of Angolans and Nigerians). There are very few African military aircraft capable of fighting or sustaining either air-to-air combat or performing logistics missions. Either they don’t exist or they are in such a state of disrepair that African combat pilots are unwitting kamikazes. There are very few airbases in the bush which allow cargo planes to land safely when a war is on given that every rebel group has its share of rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and mortars. There are no fuel reserves at the airports outside most African capitals, and there are no repair facilities. There is no air-to-air refuelling, except that provided by foreign militaries. Indeed, except for Denel in South Africa and the main airbase in Ethiopia there are no places on the continent which perform sophisticated aircraft or weapons maintenance.

Shocked? The assertions can at least raise a smile!

Earlier, the same said of the KDF Somali expedition:

Kenya Invades Somalia. Does It Get Any Dumber?..... Faced with al-Shabab’s well-armed, experienced and more numerous guerrillas – fighters who two years ago saw off a far fiercer, better trained and bigger Ethiopian force – Kenya’s soldiers seem headed for deadlock at best and, at worst, bloody defeat.
http://world.time.com/2011/10/19/kenya-invades-somalia-does-it-get-any-dumber/

The KAF F-5s were shat on even by the Swiss, who btw STILL FLY IT.

Considering the small size, poor condition and inexperience of Kenya’s fighter force, it’s perhaps surprising that the F-5s have been so busy over Somalia.
But there are signs that the high operational tempo is taking a toll. Two F-5s reportedly collided and crashed near Kismayo last week. And an F-5 mistakenly bombed Somali refugees at a camp also near Kismayo, reportedly killing five civilians.
https://www.offiziere.ch/?p=6767

Kenya’s air force is notoriously inexperienced and dilapidated, even by the modest standards of East African air arms. The air force possessed roughly 18 U.S.-built F-5 jet fighters dating from the 1970s, two of which have already been destroyed in the Somalia fighting.

After the fall of Kismayu the BBC reported thusly:
Checkpoints have been set up on the main road north of Kismayo, with one eyewitness telling the BBC that the AU forces appeared to include white troops

Fyi,the Brits were pressing for a quick assault and storming from November 2011! There was a report (aarrgghh,I can't find it now!)from a real Nbi based Brit claiming Brit mercs were flying our jets in Somalia!?
On one level, its better to underestimated by potential enemies ,but still....

REALLY,NIGGA!?

A 3 mn search would have shown 30 MD 500s,a newer squadron of 530s,a squadron of Z 9s,other ishyt and older incoming Jordanian AH 1s in our 50 air cav these parts. Srsly? Imo,that's not genuine journalistic incompetence but the classic denigration of all things African, itself an externalisation of deep rooted unconscious racism I'm referring to.
