Algerian1, looking at the very determined efforts of Algeria to bolster their defences and internal security, what do you think of armed insurgency in Algeria now?

Nigerian navy SBS

The Nigerian navy SBS detachment based in Lack Chad, have once again proven their superior training.

They were attacked about 16 hours ago. Faced with a shortage of ammo they were still able to coordinate, lead attacking forces to an identified kill zone, from where they gave BHT a bloody nose.

WTF $240,000 for a dismissal error?

A former KDF soldier has earned Ksh24 million due to Uhuru’s missing signature on his dismissal letter.

The High Court ordered Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to an officer it dismissed for giving information that helped another ex-soldier’s case against the military.

Lieutenant-Colonel Moses Lukalu was fired on May 6, 2014 for giving information about employment of specialists in the military’s legal office to a lawyer who was representing a sacked soldier.

At the time a senior officer in the legal department.

The court ruled that the military had erred because Uhuru had not personally fired Lukalu.

Justice Onesmus Makau stated that officers above the lieutenant-colonel rank such as Lukalu can only be fired through a letter directly from the President.

The letter must also state reasons for termination.

In court proceedings, KDF painted the specialist as troublesome.

At the time of his dismissal he was 41 years old and was on the verge of becoming a full colonel.

Despite being ranked as a lieutenant-colonel, he was receiving the monthly Ksh313,000 ($3,130) salary of a full colonel.

Through his lawyer Odera Were, he argued that his path was predictable in the military hence he was entitled to compensation for salary until the retirement age of 56 years.

He demanded Ksh56 million if KDF was not willing to restore his employment.

If those guys are Nigerian soldiers, then it is the DHQ's fault that these things are happening in the first place. The army is not consistent with routine rotation of it's men at the TOW, how can you expect human beings to be fighting continuously in the wilderness for as long as 2 years without them getting messed up in the head?, if the army has shortage of men, then they should recruit more men, there are hundreds of thousands of young Nigerians willing to serve the fatherland, even to the extent of paying the supreme sacrifice.

These things will continue to happen until the DHQ does something about the welfare of it's kinetic manpower. Routine training, retraining, counselling and periodic rotation of men should do the trick of reducing such disasters.
i can confirm with uttermost disappointment that there is a huge shortage of men and large number of desertions, the number of candidates that applied for SSC and DSSC is at an all time low

Indeed you are right. We all wanted anything but Jonathan because of the open stealing but that man put food on the table and relative security. Today no food, no security and in fact soon no nation.

I for one sincerely regret my support for Buhari and sincerely apologize to the Nigerian people. I sincerely thought we would have our first Mandela. No but a tyrant and religious bigot who history will never forgive.
lol i laugh suddenly people are beginning to see this government for what it is

Well, some of us are willing to apply for SSC next year. If there is such shortage of men why then don't they increase the quota for both SSC and DSSC?, I am very active on the SSC thread, and I know that when the first list came out yesterday, many people were complaining about it.

Please don't mislead people.
My brother sat for the SSC for the Navy portion in Lagos.
There were over 11,000.
I don't support the current Military doctrine but to say people are not applying to the Various arms of the Military is utterly false.
One dude was pissed on Twitter for not being able to apply to the NA.
Let people who want to apply, apply.
It is voluntary.

From this video, it can be deduced that bokoharam militants have been moving heavy equipment around, which sector is meant to be gathering intelligence for the army for God's sake, these are targets that mortars can destroy from far away, if proper recon is done it might even give out the locations these terrorists are using for their base and could help in destroying their logistics. There is something very wrong with the Nigerian army in this aspect.

NAF destroyed those equipment before they could go far. They took them from MNJTF.
