Our upgrade is to cut it up, and weld on trailers, without improving suspension and engine....thereby creating an unbalanced death trap

Hope the light ARA would still have the same level of protection?

Do you know the weapon that would be mounted on the 6x6 vehicle (23mm or 30mm)? and when would it likely be unveiled?

It is senseless posts like these that reinforce my decision in quitting Nairaland for good, worthwhile.

If you have any ounce of respect for yourself, you will apologize for this your comment, and give kudos to the Nigerian army for making the most of a terrible situation.

Ndume lamented the delay in releasing funds for military capital projects, adding that the military and other security agencies needed to be given all the needed support to discharge their assigned tasks.

“I don’t know what happened from Thursday that I left Abuja, but before Thursday you can quote me on that, no money has been released to the army as their capital allocation 2020 and we are in June.

“The president has been giving presidential orders on tackling insecurity but some people responsible for providing the army with funding are not responding. That’s what is baffling me,” he said.

These r RR battalions , which in itself is a stop gap solution to combat terrorists.

Regular IA and it's equipments is specifically for convention war . equipments need to pass NATO, DGQA etc certification levels to be included. Make shift equipments r not part of IA orbat.

Such " jugaad " equipments r not standard issue equipments . But makeshift solutions done in garages by local RR units to address certain pressing requirements which crop up during day to day COUNTER TERRORISM ops rather than wait for specialised equipments which takes time to design , built and procure . ( 99% time such requirements will never be passed so local commanders take matter into own hands using available resources )

The above is to address stone pelting by jihadi civilians and help soldiers to close in during tightening of cordon in small lanes and cooped up areas in urban zones for CASO .

And what is ridiculous about it , I don't get it . Is it for fancy dress competition or for cordon and search operations.

As for effectiveness around 40+ foreign and local terrorists killed in last few weeks in urban areas.

Fancy don't win firefights nor battles nor wars

Jugaad is ind... way to impromptu improvisation / innovative and flexible approach to problem solving using available resources in shortest time available.

bravo , clap clap for me , I defended my " nation " quickly in a forum.

I had the option to ignore actually

But then I remembered the NA efforts in the same and the ridicule heaped on it.

So I thought maybe some people here might want to know how things r in real life and relate, while at the same time address the wrong injunction.

Ignorance is infectious while knowledge is hard to acquire

Yeah. Ran across some policemen yesterday with tavors and was wondering. They were kitted in the uniform of the Nigerian police though.
These guys are on suit which is unusual for policemen on official duty. DSS guys however, do that. That's why I say its DSS.
As has been correctly pointed out, its a real waste of tax payers money.

Have witnessed close protection officers from the NPF carry out their duties in suit and native dress. The kaftan guy had a 9MM on the waist and the 2 in suits had Tavors.

I know they are NPF because I asked and was told.

Use a motorcycle or going in tight corridors with HEAVILY ARMED SFS

Lt general no offense

Ones opinion is not another ones reality

Have you been part of a combat and search operation ( CASO ) ?

If not please use a motorcycle urself to do so in the alleyways of a highly dangerous neighborhood where jihadi civilians r busy throwing stones by thousands , one hit is enough to throw u off your bike and then while u decide whether to get ur ass on the bike , if u can in the first place or whether to dodge another couple of hundreds of stones thrown by the jihadi civilians at u to appreciate ur biking skills.

( By the way death by stoning is a most miserable death , I will take a bullet anyday and so should u but feel free to digress )

Oh I almost forgot the main problem , u don't have any clue where the terrorists r in the area , they could be waiting and watching inside any one of the houses , or along the blind turning alleys or behind the dumpster or behind the parked cars or on the trees or perched up high on the roofs or behind the boundary wells or it could be the ordinary looking guy walking by as u cruise along the twisted alleys on ur bike well till u get shot off ur bike .

I decided to keep it simple with only 2 factors

Now combine the above 2 factors and calculate ur survival chance - ZERO

Again

U want to go into tight corridors with heavily armed SFs ?

For what exactly ?

To get pelted with stones and get shot by terrorists whose location ur still not aware of , they could be in the civilian jihadi crowd or they could be behind the jihadi civilian crowd , while u expecting stones to hit u and ur heavily armed SFs , u end up getting hit by bullets or ironically by both.

Then the terrorists could be sneaking up on u or they could be the ones hunting u rather than u hunting them or some terrorists led u deliberately into a trap while others get ready to blow u and ur heavy armed SFs with an ied or a grenade or 2 or shot dead by snipers conveniently placed or turned into swiss cheese by a volley of fire at the opportune moment or at the place of choosing.

I decided to keep it simple with only 2 factors

So again combine the above 2 factors and calculate ur survival chance - ZERO

Do I need to say more ?

Anyways I will stay away from posting here , can't go around making others look like kids , end result someday I will get unnecessary hate or prejudice for my troubles . I always forget , this time hopefully not.

Addendum : those so called tractors r loaned to SF as and when the situation demands to clear path through obstacles under fire , to go through walls , to not get killed by stones while distracting the stone pelters in the narrow alleys , to transport demolition guys close to buildings with cornered terrorists inorder to place satchel charges to blow it up etc etc
