No...But we all are aware of the circumstances that lead to that. As a fellow African Country that supported them through the struggle against apartheid things could have been handled better. They did not have to allow things go South as they did

Helped them during apartheid yen, yen, yen, yen, is that all we've got to say to SA? Can we let that rest please! If Nigeria is a serious country would we be discussing about this now. Goodluck Jonathan's govt messed up big time, there's no way any body can explain this away. I'm very sure part of that money was to be stolen(inflated contract), if not all. Make una no blame SA govt abeg, they have rules and if they decided not to break those rules for our own sake, why blame them. I'm very sure if the tables were turned today, govt officials, military, customs will be ready to play balls cos that one na our way. Crude oil is being lifted illegally by both European and Asian registered vessels in Nigeria and sold in international markets and you think Nigerian officials are not conniving? Abegi!

When the Customs officials asked for the name of the company selling them the arms, they couldn't name it. Draw your own conclusions.

The United States Smuggled A Russian-made Pantsir Air Defense System Out Of Libya.

The United States Smuggled A Russian-made Pantsir Air Defense System Out Of Libya: Report
The U.S. military has a long history of scooping up foreign assets to dissect them, exploit their weaknesses, and train against them.

The U.S. military reportedly spirited a Russian-made Pantsir-S1 air defense system out of Libya last year, after it was captured from forces aligned with rogue general Khalifa Haftar. The operation had the immediate ostensible aim of preventing the system from falling into the hands of any number of militant and terrorist groups in that country, but there would also be clear intelligence benefits from obtaining a largely intact example of this system, which Russia operates and has also exported widely.

British newspaper The Times was first to report the covert mission, which it said took place in June 2020. A U.S. Air Force C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft is said to have flown to Zuwarah International Airport, situated to the west of Tripoli, to pick up the Pantsir-S1, which it then flew to Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
It's not clear exactly what model of Pantsir-S1 was reportedly recovered. Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) received a number of these systems by way of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which purchased a distinct version of tRussian-made that uses a German-made 8x8 MAN SX truck chassis. Pictures had also emerged last year reportedly showing examples of the standard Russian type, which uses an 8x8 KAMAZ-6560 truck chassis, and is also the primary export configuration, in service with the LNA.
Russian-made.

"A Russian official said Moscow was aware the U.S. had removed the Pantsir system but suggested its capture would be of limited intelligence value, since the US would have the opportunity to study the same system in the UAE," The Times added. "Export versions, such as the one captured in Libya, are supposedly stripped of a carefully guarded identification friend or foe database with the transponder codes for all Russian air force jets."

The Group’s South African subsidiary, Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Pty) Ltd., will supply several thousand conventional and extended-range artillery shells of the Assegai family (Base Bleed and V-LAP) as well as M92 Assegai tactical modular charges. Delivery commenced in December 2020 and is to be complete by May 2021. The order is worth around €25 million. The South African company Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Pty) Ltd is a cutting-edge maker of ammunition and explosive products, supplying military and civil users in numerous countries around the globe. NIGERIEN AIR FORCE CHIEF CONCLUDES TOUR OF NAF FORMATIONS, COMMENDS ATF FOR ITS OFFENSIVE OPERATIONS AGAINST TERRORISTS

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Nigerien Air Force, Colonel Amirou Abdulkader, has commended the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE (OPLD), for the successes recorded so far, in its renewed offensive operations against Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements in the North East of the Country. The Nigerien CAS gave the commendation yesterday, 27 January 2021, while addressing personnel of the ATF during his visit to Nigerian Air Force (NAF) operational Units in Maiduguri to enhance collaboration in the conduct of air operations in support of the ongoing Counter-Insurgency (COIN) operations in the Lake Chad Basin area. Colonel Abdulkader, who earlier visited some NAF units in Kaduna, stated that he was pleased with the level of cooperation between the 2 air forces as well as the opportunities he had observed that could help further build capacity of the Nigerien Air Force.

While conveying the appreciation of the entire Nigerien Air Force family to the ATF for its relentless efforts in the fight against insurgency, the Nigerien CAS, who was received in Maiduguri by the NAF Chief of Training and Operations, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) James Gwani, noted that operations being conducted have been very fruitful in further destabilizing the BHTs’ new leadership and curtailing their freedom of action within the Theatre. He however urged the ATF to sustain the onslaught in order to ensure total defeat of the terrorists. He also appreciated personnel of the ATF for their sacrifices and dedication towards ensuring that there is relative peace in Nigeria and the entire Lake Chad Basin, while expressing readiness to further improve synergy between both forces.

The ATF Commander, Air Commodore Abubakar Abdulkadir, had earlier briefed the Nigerien CAS on the successes recorded so far in different operations conducted within the Theatre. He mentioned that the synergy between Nigeria and Niger Republic has been very effective towards the maintenance of peace and security in the Region.

In a related development, the Nigerien CAS had earlier visited some Units at the NAF Base Kaduna to assess areas of collaboration between the two air forces. The Units visited include 401 Flying Training School (401 FTS), Regiment Training Centre (RTC) and the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). At 401 FTS, Colonel Amirou was briefed on the activities of the Unit which was followed by a tour of facilities of the School. While at the RTC, the Nigerien CAS was treated to a demonstration by the NAF Special Forces on their capabilities in fast roping, insertion and extraction, counterterrorism offensive and medical evacuation during fierce battle, amongst others. Colonel Abdulkader also visited the AFIT, where the Commandant, AVM Abdulganiyu Olabisi, along with other senior officers of the Institute, gave him detailed briefing on training opportunities for engineers and technicians, amongst other professions, whilst also conducting him on a tour of the Institute's facilities.

As a Nigerian I am happy for S' Africa this is kind of deal that is defining for them , it for a NATO , that means 28 Countries are watching whether
they live up to their side of the bargain,
They have to succeed , they cannot have another debacle like they had with CHAD who walked away from S'Africa and regarded them as unreliable.
It will not work in this case , the glossy pictures are fine , now comes the hard part
Deliver on time , shut the critics up and write your name in GOLD
Don't deliver on time , come up with excuses and then it will be another self - fulfilling prophecy.
Good luck.

Some valid points. You do know of course, this is not our first arms deal with NATO?
And that there are almost 200 defence companies in SA who continue to deliver despite Denel's shenanigans? And that the corrupt management at Denel has been turfed out?

And yes Denel is the biggest and when they stuff up, it affects the industry's reputation.

China's industrial output is very amazing.

It's incredible what the Chinese are able to achieve, still very far from the US interms of quantitative output but clear of every one else, especially when we're talking about naval systems.

China consistently delivers good quality products, look at our CS-VP3 MRAPs for example, still going strong in the North East, while the likes of the Reva MRAP has since been garbaged.

China didn't become the 3rd largest exporter of defence equipment by chance.

I also like how their military systems seem like a fusion of Western and Russian designs. You get the best of both world's.

In the time Nigeria started building SDB3, China has built 1 aircraft carrier, 3 LHDs, 18 Destroyers and Frigates including those for export grin grin

Really impressive.
