GreenandGold:Civil war, where?.... Have you talked about the extremely High crime rates in southie, the big disparity between the black and the Afrikaners(constitutes of 9% of your population), one lives in generational wealth; owns over 60% percent of your natural resources(mines) as their personal hand-me downs to their younger generation and the other lives in slums which is the main cause of the crime rates. Every nation have their own problems 1 Like |

LINK-ZA Africa's only integrated air, ground and ship TDL.....Outside Nato there is only a handful of countries that operate a defence force wide TDL...... Australia only got there own TDL as recent as 2019. So good is LinkZA that G6 and G5 artillery pieces can accurately hit moving targets, Mokopa missiles can be guided to targets by other platforms which was successfully displayed when a Rooivalk fired a mokopa missile at a target that was guided by a Gripen. 4 Likes

New SANDF tactical communication system The communication system encompasses state-of-the-art transmission and information security techniques, incorporating semi real-time data link performance characteristics and digital voice communication. Development of various elements in this system are completed and will result in the first tactical communications system in the world that will provide complete inter-operability between all elements of the battlefield (air force, army, navy, etc.) without using gateways or protocol converters,” the report states. It goes on to state that development of the communication management system, which enables execution of design test and evaluation as well as operational test and evaluation of the total system comprising all major sub-systems operating as a system is also complete. “The first two production contracts are nearing completion and follow-up production orders have been placed” the report states without giving details of value and duration. Reutech Communications, a Reutech division, is a contractor to Armscor for the development and manufacture of a range of software defined combat net radios (CNRs). This is part of modernising communication in the SA National Defence Force (SANDF). The Reutech product is designed for joint operations between airborne, ground-based and naval forces. It is based on a common architecture and common tactical data link enabling seamless integration of C4 (Command, Control, Co-ordination & Communications) systems, sensors, weapons and intelligence across the battlespace. Reutech is supplying the SANDF with thousands of new generation software-defined radios over a ten year period. These cover land, sea and airborne applications. They have been deployed operationally on peacekeeping duty in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)." 2 Likes

jl115:Why won't they be bigger , look at the comparison ohhhhhhhhh; South Africa population is 60+ million and whites(afrikaners) about 4+ million........ Why won't the black middle-class population be bigger,if they're not bigger then it's a big slap on your faces ....... For you to even compare it, it even solidifies my point. Cost of living here in Nigeria is very low compared to the South Africa 7 Likes |

New Il-76 for Angola It appears the Angolan Air Force is taking delivery of another Ilyushin Il-76 transport aircraft as part of a batch of several additional airlifters. The Il-76TD, registration T-914, was spotted in Minsk, Belarus, earlier this month. Although painted in white, it was wearing Forca Aerea Nacional de Angola markings. On 9 June, the aircraft was tracked by FlightRadar24 over Egypt after departing Belarus on what is presumably its delivery flight. It appears Angola may be acquiring several additional Il-76s. Il-76 registration T-912 was seen over Belarus in April and was first observed in February this year, indicating the first of a new batch: other Il-76TDs in Angolan service are T-908, T-909, T-910, and T-911, so based on the registrations, this indicates three additional aircraft are being delivered, possibly from ex-Belarussian stocks. The Angolan Air Force has operated Il-76s for some 20 years. According to Scramble, only seven are currently operational, eight have been scrapped, and one is in storage. The type is flown by the Esquadra de Transportes which is based at Base Aérea No 1 (Luanda/4 de Fevereiro). The Angolan Air Force relies mainly on An-12, An-24, An-72, C212 and Il-76 aircraft for its transport requirements. It recently acquired a couple of Xian MA60s from China and has ordered three C295s from Airbus. Although the latter order was first announced in 2018, it was only firmed up with Airbus in April this year. Two of the aircraft will be specifically equipped for maritime surveillance and one for transport missions. https://www.defenceweb.co.za/aerospace/aerospace-aerospace/new-il-76-for-angola/ 3 Likes

Shameless plug: S-Plane is a client of our Corporate Finance division! S-Plane selected by Airbus for innovative wing demonstrator project Airbus has chosen S-Plane Automation to supply its X-KIT optionally piloted vehicle conversion kit for its eXtra Performance Wing demonstrator project, which will see X-KIT installed on a remotely controlled Cessna business jet. S-Plane said its X-KIT will be used to safely and reliably ensure the remote control of a Cessna Citation VII that will fly breakthrough wing technologies being developed by Airbus UpNext, a wholly owned Airbus subsidiary set up to fast-track the development of future technologies through the rapid assembly of demonstrators, and evaluating, validating and maturing these technologies. At the heart of the X-KIT system installed on the Citation VII is an appliance known as the X-CUBE. According to Dr Iain Peddle, S-Plane’s Chief Technical Officer: “The X-CUBE interfaces with all the necessary aircraft sub-systems, such as fuel, engine, electrical power, communication and hydraulic systems to manage and control them.” The X-KIT also includes a selection of satellite and line-of-sight radio frequency datalinks. This communication equipment reliably links the aircraft to S-Plane’s ground station equipment, such as remote piloting stations and payload operator stations running S-Plane’s highly configurable ParagonC2 and ParagonISR software. An Integration Testing Station (ITS) facilitates fast and high-fidelity testing of the integrated system for formal acceptance testing of integrated systems. “S-Plane is highly experienced at the conversion of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft into UAS [unmanned aerial system] and OPS [optionally piloted system], having done so for more than 13 years”, said Dr Thomas Jones, S-Plane’s Chief Executive Officer. “This experience allows us to support safe, fast and affordable conversions, even for unconventional aircraft”. One of the aircraft S-Plane has supplied its X-KIT for is the Tecnam P2006T light twin, which has been used by Spanish electronics company Indra on its Targus optionally piloted vehicle, designed for surveillance missions. The P2006T-based Targus began flight testing in 2020, with groundbreaking experimental flights in non-segregated airspace with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that weighs 1.25 tons and has an 11 metre wingspan. The Targus optionally piloted vehicle is based on the MRI version of the Tecnam P2006T aircraft, and is fitted with a Seaspray 5000E radar, a high resolution electro-optical/infrared payload (FLIR UltraForce 275-HD or Wescam MX-10) and maritime AIS (Automatic Identification System). Targus can fly in civil airspace like any other certified aircraft. Once deployed in the area of operations, it can be configured as an unmanned aircraft. The X-KIT system can be installed on most fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft to convert these into manned, unmanned and optionally piloted ISR aircraft systems. It has been installed on the Fama Kiss 209 helicopter and CADG Helix ISR aircraft (Stemme ES-15). Johannesburg-based Ultimate Unmanned led the development of the Viper 1000C unmanned aerial vehicle, based on the Stemme S15 motor glider. This was launched in 2016 and evolved into the CADG Helix optionally piloted vehicle, capable of carrying hundreds of kilograms of sensors, including long-distance day and night cameras. The base model Helix-1 system can be flown with a single pilot while the mission equipment is controlled from a ground station, while the Helix-2 can take the pilot out of the cockpit entirely. The Helix-1 has successfully been trialled on anti-poaching missions in the Kruger National Park, leading to the apprehension of half a dozen poachers over a six-week period. It has also been deployed to Mozambique. https://www.defenceweb.co.za/aerospace/aerospace-aerospace/s-plane-selected-by-airbus-for-innovative-wing-demonstrator-project/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAqqVG6GHno https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMYqTCWcHW8 3 Likes
