Thus theoretical detection is, say 400km, but actual detection range is much shorter

Factor in the Gripens RCS of 0.1 (approx) and you see where i am going with this?

I didn't even notice that ...it would have been one thing to just visually confirm that there is nothing up there...but this guy has his rifle brandished ready to fire

when fully loaded and those canards ! at those ranges they will be tracking a gripen before they know they are being tracked

Only India operates the SU-30MKI.

Gripen E/ D have AESA as well, anyway getting back to the ps-05/A the Mk 4 version has a 120km range for targets with an RCS of 0.1m2, the SU 30 has an RCS of 20m2, so yes the ps-05 Radar will track the Sukhoi at well over 200km.

Also the Grip has a more advanced HMI, EW suit, HMD and is also more maneuverable.

The Gripen it self has a RCS of 0.1m2 so there's no way the Su30 will be tracking it beyond a range of 120kms.

The Mk 3 can detect targets with an RCS of 0.4 m2 at 120km mate, so my argument still stands.

for a fighter plane to have a RCS of 0.1m2 ,thats when it does have payload(fuel tanks or ordnance ),so a gripen will still light up like a Christmas tree.also a su-30 can carry more fuel internal doesnt need external fuel tanks,so all it hardpoints can carry AAM

Yes I understand, yet it still won't increase the RCS to more than 1m2 (excl fuel tank). Thus the Su30 still won't detect it at 200kms.
