I have always wondered why the d-30 was deployed and we didnt provide the g5s

Logistics shouldent have been an issue since we had plenty of time for the build up

The only real advantage the d has over the g is that its light enough to be moved under an orgx... but surely the range on the g compensates for that?

Also, 122mm < 155mm

At some point after the Battle of Kibati, JOPS seriously considered the G5. They paused to consider the impact of the intro of Rooivalk. As we all know, M23 quickly folded and that was that.

I can't really call the South Sudan intervention successful.

It would be a huge mistake for Tanzania to go at it alone, "military specialists and advisors" would poor into Burundi from some country. To deliver a strike a it's president once threatened against TZ.
when uganda intervened the fighting was in juba and to this day kiir oil wells are secured and machar forces are held up in small portion of south sudan northern region.it reached a point machar would only sit for peace negotiations if only uganda forces left south sudan

The debate continues Mike, trust me. Personally I'd remove all 120s from dismounted infantry for the 60 and 81.
Unconventional deployment of artillery might be the reason the 120s are still kept with dismounted infantry.

Up to 19 Killed in Djibouti Violence

Opposition activists in Djibouti say as many as 19 people were killed Monday when security forces opened fire on a religious gathering in the capital.

Witnesses said the troops targeted a crowd in the Balbala neighborhood that was commemorating the late religious leader Sheikh Yonis Muse.

Security forces raided the venue at around 5 a.m. local time and began shooting, according to the sources.

A reporter for VOA in Djibouti says more than 10 people were wounded in addition to those killed.

The government of Djibouti says security forces opened fire after being attacked by an armed group of people.

"This morning... dozens of armed individuals came together before launching an offensive against the security forces," said a statement from Minister of the Interior Hassan Omar Mohamed. The statement said nine security personnel were wounded, including an officer, but it did not mention any deaths resulting from the clash.
