Thank you man ! Are you Algerian ? Can you please tell Algeria to send a mixture of 6,000 special forces, elite paratroops, plus experienced COIN regular infantry, backed up with T-90 tanks, Fuchs APCs with 12.7mm X 3 HMG, and Mi-28 Havock helicopter gunships to join African Union AMISOM force and quickly defeat Al Shabbab this year 2106 in Somalia ? Defeat the terrorists or degrade them down to Boko Harsm's current level where they will be riding mostly motorcyles, donkeys, bicycles and walking on foot, armed only with AK-47 and RPG, a few light machine guns, and IEDs. Africa needs Algerian money, men, and equipment to join our East African brothers of the AU force in Somalia TODAY.....unite Africa, unite !

Nigerian Company Delivers more Armoured Vehicles to Police.

Compared to older models this new model looks higher, and provides more ground clearance.

What are Nigerian soldiers reporting from the battlefield about performance of Beryl rifle Vs AK-47, any info ? Not sure if NA should adopt Beryl or advanced AK-74. Too many rifle types in Nigeria. Can Beryl replace Galil and Travor too?

"Although the AK 59 and AK 74 are also good and better,
respectively, but AK47 is still the best.

My reason is because the AK59 has its safety-catch or fire-
selector on the left hand side just like the FNs...of course
you should know the disadvantage of having a selector on
the left.
And as for the AK74, once you exhaust up to 3-4 full loaded
magazines, that's all. Your muzzle becomes hot and wide
opened, and as such getting your target becomes kasala."

This is what a soldier has to say. I don't quite understand what he meant by Ak59 but, these are his personal experience using the rifles.

As for the Air Force, the guys prefer the FN FAL to the Tavor-21.

These are first hand testimonies.

The Beryl Wz 2004 in 7.62mm configuration should replace all service rifles in the Army. While specialised units continue with the 5.45mm. These peanut rounds as they call it, don't cut it in widespread military use.

yes i'm algerian

for the AMISOM in somalia it's impossible that algerian army conduct military operations outside our borders. It is a principle enshrined in the Algerian constitution .

algerian army never conduct operation outside algerian borders , for exemple the terrorist who attack sometime algeria
they're hiding in libya, mali near algerian borders it will be easy for army to destroy this terrorist camp but algeria never do it because the constitution and algerian politics favors diplomatic solution and negotiations for signing of peace agreements in these countries . i hope it will change one day for this politic

I hope so too.

So where does Algeria get money to buy all these fantastic weapons, don't you spend money to build your country and provide good life and welfare for the 60 million people of Algeria ?

Welcome to this Nairaland forum, greet Algerian people, Africa loves them.

Algeria-Russia Fighter Jets Deal: Algiers To Buy 12 Su-34 Aircraft In $7.5B Deal

The Algerian air force has ordered 12 Su-34 Sukhoi Russian fighter jets as it looks to upgrade from its antiquated Soviet-era Su-24s. While the value of the deal for the jets has not been announced, it is part of a larger $7.5 billion weapons deal with Russia signed in 2006 and ends nine years of negotiations between Algiers and Moscow, said Gen. Chkalov Sergei Smirnov, director of Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association, the government-owned company that manufactures the aircraft.

The Su-34 recently was used in the Russian bombing campaign against the Islamic State group in Syria, an opportunity for perspective buyers to see it fly in a true operational environment.

Korotchenko said several African countries "including Uganda and Nigeria, which [are] waging a war against Boko Haram, could buy the Su-34," Defense News reported late Wednesday. "Such top of the range fighter bomber aircraft could also strengthen Ethiopia's air force , which still operates a large fleet of aging Su-27 fighters."

I'm told it was either Ghana or Equatorial Guinea. Ghana SF already operates 12 (2014 cost: $850K) so I'm not sure they'd need the additional 15 that were on that ship. Hopefully the Ghanaians on here will let us know. Equatorial Guinea has been buying hardware all over the place (and not bothering to maintain; half their REVA MKIII fleet currently not-operational angry) .
We'll have confirmation in April, when the NCACC tables its Quarterly Arms Exports Report to Parliament. Also, some confirmation of whatever Paramount is doing in Nigeria.

These trucks were made public last year march during the military parade in Ghana as part of the Independence activities. The pictures below however was taken last week when troops were enroute to enforce a curfew. Looking at the number plate it clearly indicates SF, but I have seen other units use it in other parts of the country as well as the Ghana Police Striking Force.

I think the manufucturers of this truck had the British Jackal in mind.

it shouldn't be news that algerian constitution does not allow it.

and you make it sound like the country will be the magic wand to end insurgency anywhere they are deployed.

don't forget that ambushes are still happening close to the capital and algerian government does not allow free flow of information out of the country.

Thats interesting. The FAL is pretty heavy and long. The Tavor suits Special Ops units especially for CQBs. Again i suggest the former be converted to Designated Marksman Rifle OR DICON should come up with a lighter carbine version of the FAL using composite materials and probably shorten the barrel.

The fn fall is used by sbs.....during selection process.....you need to see people run and falling and instructors shouting you are not fit,go back to your navy....

It's heavy, it's long and carries only 20 rounds. However Air Force personnel simply love them because of it's Range, Accuracy and Stopping power.

They call the Tavor "Travor", ground-nut rounds. I don't think they like the Tavor a lot. It's unfortunate.

I completely agree. DICON should come up with a lighter version, using composites, with add-on picatinny.

I'm surprised the Army went for the Tavor-21 for it's Airborne units, i thought they would have stuck with the Beryl.

Since the Navy operates in CQB scenarios, the Tavor would do just fine. For the rest of the Armed Forces, a Beryl or an. Upgraded AK, similar to what our police use should do.

Hopefully when the ARA is completed, we'll have something more to gloat over. This model looks much better than the earlier 2. Or is it because the wheels are different?
