China has flatly stated that the Hague court has
no jurisdiction in the case. Beijing also feels
increasingly cornered by the Obama
Administration’s "Asian pivot" and the
acceptance by the South Korean regime of the
deployment of the THAAD anti-missile system
which China fears will lead to weapons
proliferation in the region.
Beijing has told its people to prepare for war,
and the state-run People’s Daily urged the
regime to undertake a violent assault
on Australia, for their position on the South
China Sea dispute. The increased combat
capabilities of the Liaoning show that if China
chooses to fight, it has the technical capability
to dominate on a battlefield.

no sir

i was in jaffna at the end stages of war.
the war was fought by Israeli weapons except for some small arms sourced from east European countries and few from India , sometime in the war they ran out of ammo stocks when pak**tan supplied it pronto( others couldn't due to human rights issue).

large scale usage of barrel bombs perfected in Sri Lanka, the areas i visited showed entire buildings destroyed by carpet bombing with barrel bombs especially the incendiary ones.
Mr Nemesis
You may have been in JAFFA however India did not supply a Few weapons , I believe they supplied quite a lot and withdrew crucial political support to the Tamil Tigers, it is also believed Crucial Satellite Intel was supplied by one of the Big 5 @ THE UN Security Council, Lastly towards the end of the war, better Military Leadership and a ruthless SriLankan policy that very Countries could adopt without repercussions, They were never ever in danger of running out of weapons at least in the last year of the War.

never said running out of weapons i specifically said ammo that too not at the end or later stages of war but at a earlier timeline.

i bumped into Isr***lies , who kind of disappeared the next day grin
advisors? grin

ruthless SriLankan policy, u had to see in order to believe , what little i saw was only the tip of the iceberg and gave indications of the bigger scale .

funny thing few observers from humanitarianlly correct countries were also there to learn about the so called "ruthlessness" maybe evolve/use it someday grin

sat imagery sourced from the big powers is kind of not worth it because on many occasions they are too old to gather any actionable intelligence grin

LMFAO..... Chinese, enough with the video games. You don't really believe the parts of your comment in bold.
are you saying such equipment doesn't exist? Most radars with such capability operates in UHF-VHF because of their wavelengths.

Okay.
Firstly, alpha jet won't even see the f35 and the govt won't spend a dime installing an expensive L, uhf-vhf band radar on an alpha jet. Moreover which country will sell out such radar to Nigeria.
F35 is far better that A-ha jet aerodynamically, avionics etc. A-jet will definitely go out Of missiles that's if it has the chance to get a lock on on the f35.

Nigerian requirements still remain the same. FOB defence and offensive operations. To deal with these, the Nigerian army would require a system that provides adequate firepower, light & maneuverable, with a decent range. Basically a light Infantry support weapon. I don't see how a cumbersome 40mm mounted on a Samil truck solves this conundrum.

A ZSU-23-2 mounted on a military truck remains the most decent component in a layer of defences.

IFV

What you want is an IFV

The Russian platform is a low cost air-defence platform, not infantry support

If you want them to defend a static position, do what everyone else does and put it on the ground

Quality is a loose term. Expensive doesn't mean quality. No matter how you look at it, fielding cost-effective systems in large numbers is a better option for those countries who cannot afford more expensive, sanctions prone equipment.

The Sri-Lankan insurgency which ended a couple years ago is a perfect example where cost-effective wins decisively.

Not really an insurgency

The latter part of the war was semi conventional

The insurgency was terrorism in the cities...

We actually aren't on same page. I'm not doing a versus argument. All i'm saying is, cost-effective doesn't mean below-par unlike your argument. Now, because of a certain quantity, Niger and Tchad could pose a significant challenge, hypothetically speaking.

Sri Lanka WON it's war deploying primarily Chinese systems. Now the country can REBUILD regardless of the methods it used.

By definition cost effective means below par

Sri Lanka won the war by levelling half their country against a poorly equipped D numerically inferior enemy. Maybe with better equipment they would have done better

No offence, but this is the most stupid comment i've read all year.

Such equipment exists.

Ground penetrating radar: Used on specialist demining vehicles such as the Casspir variant and civilian mining purposes.

Wall penetrating radar: Used mainly by SWAT like units to observe movements behind walls on hostage and other situitions.

Not bad considering how under-funded we are.
SANDF projects

Given the overall lack of budget, there is little money available for the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) for capital acquisition. However, there are some big and small projects currently underway, to acquire things from infantry fighting vehicles to field kitchens...

ISIS is digging up landmines from mine fields left behind after second world war by allied and axis forces,to make I.E.D's , SVBIED's

Even at the height of summer, when the upper crust of Cairo descends on the nearby Mediterranean coast, the world’s largest open-air armory is a bleak place. With up to 17 million land mines buried in the sands of northwest Egypt, no one can set foot beyond the carefully demarcated boundaries for fear of losing a limb—or their life. Home to what’s likely the world’s largest unexploded minefield, the area is an eerie reminder of the ferocity of World War II. It saw serious action in the early 1940s as the British sought to stymie the advance of Nazi Army General Erwin Rommel’s vaunted Afrika Korps, and the German, British and Italian armies buried millions of tons of explosives as they battled one another across North Africa. But until recently, the minefields of the Sahara posed a problem mainly for local Bedouins, who are among the few who live in the area; since 2006, they’ve suffered more than 150 casualties.

Over the past few years, however, these munitions have become part of a new and worrisome trend. As the Islamic State and other jihadi groups have grown throughout the region, sometimes roaming unchecked across long, porous borders, a few have realized the potential power of this massive cache of explosives, much of it buried here by the Nazis. Military and civilian officials in Cairo say ISIS and other groups have already MacGyvered these decades-old mines, using their components for bombs, improvised explosive devices (IED) and other instruments of death. “We’ve had at least 10 reports from the military of terrorists using old mines, says Fathy el-Shazly, a former ambassador to Saudi Arabia who until recently served as Egypt’s land mine clearance czar. “Even now, these things trouble us in different ways.”

Not a war mobilization

The Chinese and Russian Navy is about to have a navy drill in South China Sea in respond of the US "Asia Pivot" policy.

If the Australian Navy insist on sending war-ship spying the drill,It could cause more tension, but not necessarily a conflict or war.
