C295W MILITARY AIRCRAFT: AIRBUS HOLDS DISCUSSION ON SALE PROPOSAL
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Mshl Sadique Abubakar today played host to His Excellency, the Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Alfonso Barnuevo Sebastian De Erice, who led two executives of Airbus Defence and Space Company (Spain) to Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to hold further discussion on the company’s proposal to sell the C295W military aircraft to the NAF. The company, earlier in January this year, had made a presentation on the aircraft and submitted a sale proposal to the NAF. Based on its operational capabilities, the aircraft was considered suitable to meet some of the operational needs of the NAF including Intelligence,
Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and airlift operations. The NAF has recommended the aircraft for acquisition and provisions have been made for this in the 2017 budget proposal. Meanwhile the Chief has urged the visiting team to start looking into training areas for NAF pilots and technicians on the aircraft. This, the CAS said, is with a view to ensuring a smooth take-off for the operation of the aircraft in the event of its approval by the Federal Government.
The NAF is interested in the variant of the aircraft that is capable of undertaking multiple roles.

s.

At the end of the day, it is getting the C295W in good numbers that counts.

The more i read this report, the more i seem to believe we are probably high on Surveillance assets. From drones to planes and helicopters we are piling them up.

Oops, NIU. Though I'm told TRT participated in the Northern Cape.

I see there's pics floating around from the Cape Town leg, Exercise Sea Dog.

Those TRT boys would spill all the information about such trainings in township bars...... Lack of discipline is very rife. In fact it's a danger to have then participating in such an elite training.

Too true. Though my mate who was in the Northern Cape tells me they were the better ones who had already passed pre-selection for NIU, and were only assigned to pull perimeter security in the exercise.

Nope. the pipeline is supposed to go Public Order-->TRT-->NIU-->STF/CAT. Though the CAT has been known to poach from STF -to their irritation-instead of training their own grin.

The two often get confused by the media. The NIU is based in the metros (deployed nationwide) and their operations are mostly intelligence driven... The TRT is nationwide, there's about 1 unit in smaller towns and more units in bigger ones.

Although both get extreme paramilitary pre-election and training BUT the NIU is greater.

After nearly 20 years of democracy, Military rule now seems to be like a distant history.

The Military still remains the number 1 institution in Nigeria. Damn APC and PDP politicians.

When did "...training from U.S, Britain and France help the Nigerian army to make huge advances"-New York Times

Nigerian Army struggled on its own, WITHOUT HELP, AGAINST ALL ODDS to significantly dismantle and degrade Boko haram. While western media and Generals were laughing and mocking the Nigerian army.
Theses western journalists are clowns.
We were all here, on this same forum, when the pastime of U.S,French and U.K Generals and their western media was denigrating and abusing Nigeria's military.
Now the western journalists and Generals are singing a new tune.
Western hypocrisy is just nauseating. angry angry angry

This is not a fight of our making it was brought to us and both Kenya and Jordan has suffered acts of terror from this group. We have learnt that this threat respect no boundaries but shared threats calls upon on shared responses and that is why Jordan and Kenya stand together now ready to defend the principles that we hold dearly. Equally both Kenya and Jordan play host to hundreds of thousands of refugees, proof of hospitality of our people”.
His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein commented that “He is delighted to see the young Jordanian youth and Kenyan brothers and sisters training with the objective of fighting a common enemy that Kenya and Jordan are facing. There are so many similarities between the two countries not only that we both host amongst the refugees challenges of most countries in the world but we do also have threats on our boarders, these similarities bring us together.”
