Its not about just believing or not. Its about being hostage to the ancient myths and so much so that it beclouds sound judgement and critical thinking.
Most of the civilised nations were once religious and many are still so. But we do not see them wasting resources to cater for the religious beliefs of individuals. They use their surplus to educate and provide social services for the welfare of it's citizens.
