The Bible’s Position on Gay Marriage, Homosexuality & Lesbianism

We have recently been inundated by the ‘apostles’ of gay marriage that there is nothing wrong when a male marries another male or when a female marries another female. Some of these ‘apostles’ include presidents and prime ministers of some advanced countries of the world like the US and Great Britain. Others include some of the world’s leading ministers of religion. The desire to have all the countries of the world embrace gay marriage has driven some of these world leaders into threatening leaders of lesser countries that the aid they the advanced countries give to them will be cut-off if they don’t recognise gay marriages in their respective countries. Some of the Christian denominations like the Church of England had earlier moved to ordain gay bishops. It therefore did not come as a surprise when Pope Francis the Roman Catholic pontiff recently said that gay people who live ‘righteously’ can also go to heaven. I ask which heaven? The heaven in which God dwells?

Based on these developments and the need to deliver the undiscerning into believing and accepting falsehood, it has become imperative and expedient that we point out the stands of the Holy Scriptures on this unholy and ungodly practise.

Romans 1:18
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;”

The wrath of God: it is the personal anger and God’s unchanging reaction to all sin (including homosexuality). This personal anger and reaction of God is usually provoked by the wicked behaviour of individuals and nations. It is part of God’s wrath to give the wicked over to uncleanness and other vile passions.

Romans 1: 24-28
“Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;”
God also gave them over (up)….
One of the primary signs when God abandons any society or people as we read in the passages above is that they become obsessed with sexual immorality and perversion. God abandons them to intensify in their lusts and forbidden sexual pleasures. We also see the three stages of abandonment by God: God giving them to sinful pleasure that degrade the body; God giving them over to shameful homosexual or lesbian passions; and God giving them over to a depraved mind’ i.e. their minds justify their unrighteous actions and they become continually preoccupied with evil and the pleasures of sexual sins.

Homosexual and lesbian abominations are regarded as the greatest evidence of human degradation resulting from immorality and God’s abandonment (Gen 19:4-5; Lev 18:22). It was part of the reasons God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Any nation that justifies homosexuality and lesbianism as an acceptable lifestyle is at its final stages of moral corruption.

Romans 1:32
“Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

Have pleasure in them who do them (or approve of them who do them)

The passage above clearly shows that supporters and encouragers of those who practice sinfulness (this includes homosexuality and lesbianism) shall also partake of the wrath of God that awaits the practitioners. This disposition is the ultimate in depravity that is, vicarious enjoyment of lust and support. Sin is intensified in any society wherever it meets with no inhibition from the disapproval of others.

Conclusion
Brethren, let no man deceive you into thinking that God approves of homosexuality and lesbianism. Homosexuality and lesbianism are gross immoral, abominable and detestable acts that are forbidden by God. Nobody who practices this evil or supports those who practice them will enter the kingdom of God. 1 Co 6:9-10 “9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
Rev 21:8 “But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death.”

Rev 22:15 “Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood”
Due to my desire to have you read this article without being bored, I have concentrated on just a few passages of the Bible to show God’s indignation against these despicable acts that has become a ‘fashion show’. There are loads of other passages that abhors this ungodly practice. Nobody who calls himself/herself a Christian will indulge in these sinful acts or support those who practise them. Anyone who does this is not a child of God but an agent of Satan the devil. God will not dwell in the congregation of the wicked. So be warned!

Nevertheless, it is gratifying to let you know that God’s wrath on such abominable practices and other sins is not the final word to humans. He has provided a way of escape through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. Any person who repents from his/her sins and turns to the Lord Jesus for salvation shall be saved Acts 2:21).
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Have your totally surrendered your life unto the Lord Jesus Christ and made Him your Lord and personal Saviour? If not, then take the following steps of faith in order to be saved and receive strength to serve Him.
A – Admit that you are a sinner (Rom 3:23)
B – Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is able to save you from your sins and sins’ problems (Mathew 1:21)
C – Confess your sins and invite the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour (Romans 10:9-10)
D – Depart from doing evil and live a righteous life in Christ Jesus (Titus 2:11-14)
