Governor Obi Is Ignorant ..says Okadigbo by Nobody: 11:25am On Aug 12, 2013
Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Senator Margery Chuba Okadigbo, yesterday said Anambra State Governor Peter Obi is ignorant of the process of the National Assembly.

Senator Okadigbo, who represents Anambra North, urged the people to ignore Obi’s “unwarranted campaign of calumny” aimed at discrediting federal lawmakers from the state.

The lawmaker stated this while reacting to what she described as an “unjustified outburst” by Obi on the performance of senators from the state.

Okadigbo who spoke in a statement by her Chief of Staff, Emma Mbamalu, said the governor needed to be educated on rudiments of lawmaking, especially at the national level.

She also urged Obi to learn to ask questions instead of playing to the gallery in the name of politics.
She said Obi’s unprovoked attack on federal lawmakers from the state was because the senators he laboured to discredit were not from his party.

Senator Okadigbo noted that if the governor meant well, a little research should have made him to discover that she three bills to her credit.
She said contrary to Obi’s sweeping categorization, she co-sponsored motions, including the motion on the need for the construction of the second Niger Bridge.

“The bills which have gone through first reading in the Senate included Nigerian Children’s Trust Fund (Amendment) Bill 2013; Child’s Right Act (Amendment) Bill 2013 and National Kidney Treatment and Dialysis Centre Bill 2013 while she co-sponsored the Nigerian Health Bill 2013, National Health Insurance Commission Bill 2013 and National Tobacco Control Bill 2013,” the statement said.

The statement said: “Governor Obi is obviously ignorant of the workings of the National Assembly. Now that he is frantically working, albeit clandestinely to come to the National Assembly at the expiration of his tenure, he is most welcome but he should endeavour to work his way with some level of civility.

“The politics of calumny, misrepresentation and pull him/her down should be a thing of the past.
”He does not have regard for federal lawmakers from Anambra State. He does not confer nor consult them on any matter before doing anything even when it requires their attention.

“The governor forwards names of nominees for appointment that require endorsement of senators from the state without informing them. He visits Mr. President on matters that require the input of federal lawmakers and other stakeholders from the state without even the courtesy of informing them.

Governor Obi take politics as 'paddy-paddy relationship'....that explains why he is always eager to rush to the President to intervene in matters that ordinarily have governance process to pass through.

After many years in politics...he is still a rookie.

The way this adaobi manipulates the gullible people of his state in achieving his personal aim is legendary. grin

•When an issue involves other ethnic, he plays ethnic card. Just like he did with his kins deportation from the centre of excellence.
•If it's within his tribe, he involves the credibility of his state igboness, thereby cornily telling others they are inferior.
•when it's within his state, he destroys the orderliness and brings up senatorial zoning.
•and within his senatorial district, he sets in people's belief(catholic or other denominations).

Dumb strategy for gullible people

Obi is Okwute Ndigbo.

Its a shame that APC senator Ngige has spent 4years in the senate without a single bill credited to him. The two PDP senators: Nnamdi Uba and Okadigbo are doing fairly well more than their APC senator Ngige conuterpart. APC has kissed the dust in the east.

What concerns APC with an accusation coming from a PDP member against an APGA member....? undecided

I spend a lot of time clearing up misconceptions and blatant falsehood here on Nairaland, that I feel it would not be out of place if started earning royalties. Any thoughts on how we can reach some kind of arrangement Seun? grin

...One can have a Bill brought to the floor of the Senate or House of Representatives and the Bill will "Not Pass" Such a Bill may be thrown out on the First, Second or Third Reading. Or it may be thrown out during Debates or Voting because there are no merits in the Bill. The person that sponsored such a Bill would be credited with "having sponsored or presented a Bill" but to what use?

One can also present a Bill, have it passed, but the Executive would refuse to sign it or would Veto it. Then that Bill never becomes Law, but the person would be credited with "having Passed a Bill" again, to what use? Unless if the Senate over-rides the veto with a vote of 67% of the Senate or House of Representative. Try getting that!

Senator Ngige has an intellectual sturbboness that would not allow him to present a Bill for the sake of presenting a Bill. What he wants is that whatever Bill he presents; to be passed and signed by the Executive so that it would become law. Currently, he has about 6 Bills going through different stages of preparation for presentation, debate, passage and signing into law. He is not going to rush that process to please his detractors or to answer a name as "having presented a Bill"

Meanwhile, Senator Ngige has co-sponsored about five Bills that are in different stages of Reading in the Senate. Because these are collective or Committee Bills, no one Senator can take total credit for them. Individual members, are just "co-sponsors" of such Bills.
