Real Madrid’s wonderkid Vinicius Jr is apparently dating a curvy social media influencer after eagle-eyed users noticed the same bathroom in their snaps. According to reports, the 18-year-old Brazilian forward has fallen for the stunning Maria Julia Mazali, who commands an army of 460,000 Instagram followers and more than 82,000 YouTube subscribers. Brazilian reporters sniffed out the blossoming affair when the same bathroom was spotted in their social media posts. In one photo of Vinicius Jr taking a selfie in the bathroom mirror, a white radiator is seen near two blue towels hanging by the bathtub. Meanwhile, in a snap shared on social media by Mazali, the beauty is pictured standing near what appears to be the same radiator, blue towels and bathtub. Three months ago, Vincius Jr stated that he was single and happy that way, but now it is believed he wants to spend as much time as possible with his new Brazilian babe. However, the Real Madrid star has yet to confirm the rumours for his 6.1million Instagram fans while Mazali has not officially joined the ranks of Spanish football’s famous WAG community. It is yet to be seen whether the intense media speculation will prompt the teenage striker to come clean on his rumoured relationship with gorgeous Mazali. But the fact that they follow each other on Instagram adds further weight to the rumours. Vinicius has netted just three goals for the Real Madrid first team since his rapid promotion from the Castilla B team. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/04/02/real-madrid-youngster-reportedly-dating-sexy-instagram-beauty-photos/

He disclosed this yesterday while delivering a lecture at the University of Lagos’ 50th convocation. He said at $0.19 per child per day, the government provided a balanced meal for every one of the 9,300,892 million pupils in 49,837 public primary schools in 26 states. The school feeding programme, according to him, employs 95,422 cooks and over 100,000 small holder farmers. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/04/02/fg-feeds-pupils-with-594-cows-138000-chickens-6-8m-eggs-weekly-osinbajo/

President Muhammadu Buhari is directly involved in the National Assembly leadership this time around, and he has personally spoken to some governors to talk to their members to support Femi. Femi Gbajabiamila House Leader Femi Gbajabiamila (APC, Lagos) formally joined the race for the Speaker in the 9th Assembly yesterday even as indications emerged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) might have zoned the position to the South West. Gbajabiamila, who declared his ambition yesterday at a ceremony held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, is being challenged by seven contenders. They are House spokesman Abdulrazak Namdas (APC, Adamawa), Mukhtar Aliyu Betara (APC, Borno), Idris Wase (APC, Plateau), Umar Bago (APC, Niger), Nkeiruka Onyejeocha (APC, Abia), John Okafor (APC, Imo), Babangida Ibrahim (APC, Katsina) and Mohammed Kazaure (APC, Jigawa). However, a lawmaker told Daily Trust last night that APC national leadership has already settled for Gbajabiamila as speaker, hence the presence of three contenders namely Chief Whip Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Rep Mohammed Tahir Monguno and rep-elect Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim at the declaration venue, where all of them spoke. The source added that President Muhammadu Buhari “is directly involved in the National Assembly leadership this time around, and he has personally spoken to some governors to talk to their members to support Femi. The president is highly interested this time. “Some of our governors have since communicated this to us. So, it’s like a done deal to us. We can’t go against the party this time around. All we need is a united House, where we’ll make good laws for the country,” the lawmaker said. Daily Trust reports that Monguno (APC, Borno) has turned out to be the main canvasser for Gbajabiamila. The development further lends credence to the position of the ruling party even though the party’s leadership is yet to formally unveil its zonal arrangements. Other lawmakers working for Gbajabiamila are Peter Akpatason (APC, Edo) and Abdulmumin Jibrin (APC, Kano), who doubles as the Director-General of Femi Gbajabiamila Speakership Campaign Organization. Citing Gbaja’s profile and qualifications for the office, Monguno had described the fourth term Lagos lawmaker as not only eminently qualified but also well versed in the knowledge of the Constitution and the norms of democracy. “I want to say that Gbajabiamila is the man for this job. He has the legislative experience and reach, as well as an uncommon knowledge of the Constitution, which will further consolidate our democracy,” he said. A source said Monguno had already been lined up for Deputy Speaker, in the event that Gbajabiamila emerges as Speaker of the House next June. Why we’re interested Speaking during his formal declaration, Gbajabiamila said, “I seek this office with a rich legislative background and pedigree, having just won a historic 5th term mandate to the House. “It is this wealth of experience and a burning desire for good governance that I bring to the table, to take the legislature to the next level. “I seek the office of the House Speaker to bring us together and unite us as a country.” When contacted by Daily Trust, Namdas said he was still in the race and also campaigning seriously for the speakership position, adding that the party (APC) was yet to come up with any official zoning formula. “You know I made my official declaration last week and some of my colleagues, both old and new ones were also there. We have all declared and are waiting for the next stage, which is the party’s zoning arrangement. “So, I can tell you I am still very much in the race and I am also campaigning seriously for it,” Namdas noted. Onyejeocha, who like Gbajabiamila, has also formally declared her intention to become the Speaker of 9th House, told Daily Trust that she was still in the race. The ranking lawmaker, who was first elected to the House in 2007, said she remained the best option for the office of Speaker, despite the swelling number of those who have shown interest. She expressed optimism that APC would zone the position to the South East, which would place her in best position to become the second female House of Reps speaker since Patricia Etteh. “You may wish to know that I have formally declared my interest in the race. I am also optimistic that I will emerge as the Speaker of the House of Representatives in June. “Despite the growing number of contenders, I believe I am the most qualified. I also have comparative advantages over other contenders. “For instance, I am a ranking member with capacity and experience. I am also a female from the South East where I believe the party would zone the speakership slot in the interest of justice,” she said. Another contestant for the office of speaker in the coming 9th Assembly, Muhammad Umar Bago, told journalists yesterday in Abuja when he officially declared his intention for the seat, said he was in the contest to deepen the relationship with all arms of government. Bago, who represents Chanchaga Federal Constituency of Niger State, said being from the North Central, he believed he should be given the opportunity because his zone has neither produced speaker nor deputy speaker since the return of democracy in 1999. He said for equity and justice, the national leadership of APC should zone the speaker’s position to the North Central, noting that they have contributed a lot to the party’s success. “The South South, North East, South East and South West have produced five deputy speakers among themselves since 1999. “What does the North Central have in the entire equation? We have to be just to ourselves. Who’s speaking for the zone that has never been recognized for keeping faith with the party? “Despite all the crisis and challenges bedevilling the zone under the APC administration, we stayed the course for the party and the president, delivering more than 70% of votes cast. “Apart from the zoning argument, if you say the South must get something, why insist on Southwest, why not South-South or the South East? “But then, in terms of representation in the party and government, the South South has the chairmanship of the party, and the Southwest has VP, what does the North Central have? Nothing.” Idris Wase (APC, Plateau) could not be reached at the time of filing this report as he did not pick calls. We can’t ask them not to aspire before zoning – APC When contacted on phone yesterday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the ruling party could not ask those aspiring to become Speaker not to exercise their rights pending the announcement of the zoning formula. Asked whether he thought the interest being shown by different personalities from different geo-political zones for the position of Speaker would not affect the much awaited announcement of the zoning formula by the ruling party, Issa-Onilu said, “Not at all. It is within their rights to seek this position. They are eminently qualified to occupy it. Until the zoning is out, we cannot ask them not to exercise their right. When the zoning is out, perhaps, it may fall into the zone of anyone among them. Then, they will know what to do. “But definitely, they are all waiting for what the party will say. But it is good enough for them to make efforts. In case, it falls into their zone. I think they are qualified to be Speaker. We can’t ask them not to do that.” http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/04/01/speaker-gbajabiamila-faces-8-contenders-despite-apcs-position/

A married woman has found herself in serious trouble after pouring hot water on her neighbour in Lagos. A 37-year-old woman, Mrs. Josephine, has been arrested in Lagos for bathing her neighbour, one Mrs. Blessing Christopher, 33, with hot water for reportedly greeting her husband against her wish, according to a report by PM Express. The jealous Josephine had claimed that she was not ready to share her husband with Blessing and she meant it by pouring hot water on her. Blessing, a worker with Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), incurred the wrath of Josephine on Tuesday night at Agbotikuyo, Agege area of Lagos. Blessing explained that on Tuesday night, as she was preparing dinner for her family in the kitchen, her neighbour’s husband came into the place and greeted her. Immediately she replied, the man’s enraged wife reportedly jumped out. Blessing said: “I responded to his greeting by saying, ‘Welcome Sir’. The wife, who heard us, came out from their apartment and warned me never to greet her husband again. She said that if I tried it again, she would deal with me. I asked her when it has become a crime to respond to greetings and she said I should wait for her. I continued with my cooking.” “A few minutes later, I saw her with a pot; she was hurriedly moving towards me. Her husband tried to block me but she went behind and poured the hot water on my back.” Blessing, who was writhing in pain, was in bed when our correspondent went to speak with her. She said: “Since she poured the hot water on me, I have been in pains. The worst situation is that my husband and I don’t have enough money to pay for my medical treatment. I don’t know what I did to that woman. We didn’t even have any issue. We are just four months old in the compound. We later heard that most tenants that had moved out of the compound left because of the woman’s troublesome nature.” Blessing said since the incidence happened that she had not been able to take care of her twins; the twins are just two years old. Her husband was forced to stop going to work in order to mind the kids. In January, Josephine was alleged to have broken a neighbour’s head during a squabble. The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the story. Elkana said that the suspect had been arrested. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/03/31/jealous-housewife-pours-hot-water-on-neighbour-for-greeting-husband-graphic-photo/

After a blistering form that saw him score 21 goals last season, it has been revealed that Ighalo rejected an offer from Spanish giants, Barcelona. Odion Ighalo has revealed that he turned down the chance to join Spanish giants Barcelona on loan in January, saying he ‘deserved better’. The former Watford striker scored 21 goals for relegated Changchun Yatai in the 2018 Chinese Super League season, which he says attracted interest from the Camp Nou giants. But the Nigeria international felt the nature of the move – a short-team loan deal – was not sufficient to entice him back to Spain, where he had two loan spells with Granada. “My agent spoke to me about a loan interest from Barcelona. The club wanted a striker with LaLiga experience and someone who understands Spanish football,” Ighalo, who instead opted to stay in the CSL with Shanghai Shenhua, told BBC Sport. “It was meant to be a six-month loan and strictly as a back-up striker. It was nice to hear that Barcelona were interested and any footballer would be more than happy to take it. “But, with due respect, I had just finished as the second top scorer in China with 21 goals, I deserve better and didn’t want to be a short-term player somewhere. “We rejected it, it was an easy decision to make and I chose to stay in China by joining Shanghai Shenhua on a longer contract. “You need to weigh things up properly in life and ask yourself if it is your call to make, or one to satisfy others. “I respect my decision. I needed to focus on what is good for my career long term and when you decide to do something – you stay true to yourself. It wasn’t for me and I am happy where I am. “I have no regrets or whatsoever because I am happy at Shanghai Shenhua. To reunite and play under my former Watford coach [Quique Sanchez Flores] is exciting and I love it.” http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/03/31/odion-ighalo-turns-down-move-to-join-barcelona-fc/

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB on Tuesday insisted that there is no going back on its stance on 2019 election boycott. This came on the heels of an ongoing speculations and rumors in certain quarters, including discussions on some electronic media platforms and newspaper publications. IPOB claimed the rumour is mischievously crafted to misinterpret its leader’s address on Saturday, January 12, 2019 A statement by the group's media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful stated that Nigerians, after listening to the broadcast, insinuated that its leader had made a U-turn by asking IPOB members and Biafrans to participate in Abia and Ebonyi states. The group insisted that despite its call for election boycott, it will still work to ensure that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and his counterpart, Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, never return to office for a second term. The statement reads in part, 'Therefore, we the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) wish to state categorically to all and sundry that our resolve to stop Okezie Ikpeazu and David Umahi does not affect IPOB position towards boycotting the upcoming presidential election in February this year. "It is crystal clear that various interpretations emanating from certain quarters and individuals about our leader's interactive session via Radio Biafra are blatant false designed to pander to base instincts of those who wish to distract IPOB from achieving our aim next month. "IPOB is a highly sophisticated movement that have demonstrably proven over many years our capacity to handle multiple and even complex directives from the leadership. "There is no ambiguity in the instructions our leader gave on Saturday. If anything, it was crystal clear from the broadcast that those responsible for the kidnapping and abduction of our people by the army and DSS in recent days must be held accountable for it. "David Umahi and Okezie Ikpeazu must be made to feel the rage of the people and this will best be served by ensuring their defeat at the polls.' IPOB maintained that the broadcast and interactive session via Radio Biafra from Israel by its leader was purely educational and rightly sought to enlighten Biafrans and right thinking individuals and groups who are victims and witnesses of Operation Python Dance, to the evil being committed against Biafrans by David Umahi and Okezie Ikpeazu. The statement added, "Our resolve to ensure Okezie Ikpeazu and David Umahi failure during this coming election must be enforced no matter the level of propaganda, abductions, arrests, humiliation, intimidation and killings of innocent citizens of Biafra. "From next month Okezie Ikpeazu, David Umahi and co will realize and understand that IPOB movement is rooted in every clan and community in Biafraland. Those seeking to deflect our attention away from removing Umahi and Ikpeazu are wasting their time because their complicity in bringing Operation Python Dance to our land is an unpardonable atrocity against our land and God in heaven. "Anybody in support of Umahi and Okezie Ikpeazu will be seen as a supporter of the killing of IPOB family members which in turn will make that person an enemy of the people. "We shall boycott the forthcoming presidential elections and every other with the notable exception of Abia and Ebonyi where the incumbents, Okezie Ikpeazu and Dave Umahi are using their positions to facilitate the kidnapping, arrest, torture and execution of our people. This recent misconception by some individuals who intend to have Umahi and Ikpeazu return to office, will never deter us because they don’t exist in the real world. They only inhabit the realm of gossip. "The decision by IPOB to shutdown Biafraland on the election day has gone far and cannot be changed or stopped unless our terms are met. People are at liberty to twist, fabricate and misunderstand IPOB, but the people of Biafra understand clearly where we are going. We will continue to deploy all forms of civil disobedience, most notably boycott of every Nigerian election until they give us date for Biafra referendum." IPOB further said that its aim towards achieving the set goal and desire cannot be truncated by an orchestrated attempt to misinform the public by enemies of Biafra both within and without. "Our decision to shutdown Biafraland on 16th of February is sacrosanct", the statement stated. https://newsexpressngr.com/news/67996-No-going-back-on-election-boycott-IPOB-

The Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, and a coalition of Igbo groups on Monday accused the leader of the Indigenous People of Biara, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu of working for politicians to cause confusion in Abia and Ebonyi States. The coalition said Kanu has derailed from his pursuit for the actualisation of Biafra and was being “sponsored by politicians to cause confusion and pursue campaign of calumny” against those who mean well. They said this while condemning the verbal attacks on Governors of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu and his Ebonyi State counterpart, David Umahi by IPOB. IPOB had quoted Kanu as saying both governors should be voted out because they are sabotaging the agitation for the actualization of Biafra. Speaking after their meeting in Abakaliki, the National President of OYC, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said Kanu should be ignored by people of the listed states. He said: “The coalition of Igbo groups; namely World Igbo Youth Congress, Southeast Women Professionals and Igbo Students Movement had met with the Forum of BibeingaAgitators and resolved that the attack was laughable. “It is laughable that Kanu is derailing from his Biafra agitation and now being sponsored by politicians to cause confusion and pursuing campaign of calumny against those who mean well for him.” Isiguzoro urged the IPOB to emulate the maturity and non-violence approach of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), led by Uchenna Madu. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/14/biafra-ohanaeze-adolescents-distinguish-purportedly-supporting-nnamdi-kanu-cause-disarray/

Campaign vehicles belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have been set ablaze in Enugu. Mc Ebisco reports that the incident happened around Tickles Park, at the Ogui New Layout Area of the State. A chieftain of the party, Mr. Dan Nwomeh, who confirmed the development, said the unknown arsonists burnt down branded PDP campaign vehicles in Enugu. “Three sienna buses completely razed down. Two coaster buses almost gutted before the arrival of the State fire service. Who is doing this?” Nwomeh wrote. The buses, with the inscription, ‘Gburugburu 2019’, were set ablaze at a popular printing press after they were branded for use. https://twitter.com/mcebiscoo/status/1084585875768512512 More to come… http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/13/breaking-pdp-crusade-vehicles-set-fire-enugu-video/

- The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has aired his views on the recent travails on Senator Dino Melaye - Saraki alleged that the APC-led federal government is using the ordeal faced by Melaye to silence its detractors - He further claimed that the ruling party has decided to go on intimidation against those who are seen as enemies The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to intimidate those it sees as enemies in the National Assembly. Saraki also alleged that the ordeal of Senator Dino Melaye was one of the attempts to silence both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other lawmakers in the National Assembly, Daily Trust reports. He made these remarks in Jos, the Plateau state capital on Saturday, January 12, during the opposition party's presidential campaign rally. Recall that Mcebiscoo.com reported that some masked police officers reportedly stormed the hospital where Melaye was recuperating, carried him into an unmarked vehicle and whisked him off. The officers forced the lawmaker, who was on the hospital bed, into an unmarked vehicle and drove him away on Friday, January 11. The police had however released a statement to announce that Senator Melaye was moved from the Police Clinic in Area 1, Garki, Abuja to one of the medical facilities of Department of State Service (DSS). In an earlier post, Mcebiscoo.com reported that Melaye had been admitted to hospital, hours after he surrendered himself to a police team investigating a charge of attempted murder. The police revealed this on Friday in a statement by spokesman Jimoh Moshood. He said the senator was in stable condition. Moshood said before Melaye was moved to the unidentified hospital, he faced an interrogation by the police team probing his involvement in the shooting of a policeman by thugs embedded in a convoy of the senator on July, 19, 2018 in Kogi state. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/13/apc-wants-achieve-melayes-ordeal-saraki/

Since his appointment as the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Kpotun Idris has been able to manage the herculean responsibility of overseeing some 1,300 police stations, 370,800 men and women, 36 state commands, 12 zones and seven administrative organs (unlike other IGPs?) with effortless excellence as though he was born for the job. However, the police plan to increase the workforce to 650,000 in the nearest future. He is the first Inspector-General of Police in Nigeria’s history to publicly declare his assets. He has received commendation from the Code of Conduct Bureau for complying with the Asset Declaration Regulations. Idris served creditably in the United Nations for eight years, making him foremost police officer in Nigeria, with wealth of experience and polished policing with utmost credibility. When a coalition of civil society groups fighting against corruption paid a courtesy visit to the IGP on December 9, 2016 to mark the United Nations Anti-Corruption Day, he recalled: “In United Nations, you declare your assets on yearly basis; so, throughout my eight years in United Nations, I declared my assets. So I did not hesitate to declare my asset when I was appointed and confirmed as substantive Inspector-General of Police.” Idris was selected from among the eligible senior police officers because he was the only one who passed the integrity test secretly conducted by the Presidency; and, ever since his appointment two year ago, he has completely repositioned the Police Force to, arguably, the most efficient Police Force in our recent history. He launched a move of “Change begins with me” in all the police commands across the country, making training of all police personnel his priority. The Nigeria Police personnel have received training on Human Rights and Police-Citizens Relations, Anti-corruption within and without the Police Force, and several other trainings in the 12 zones of the police command. The IGP, by instrument of witty and well-polished policing, has brought one of the most notorious kidnappers to his knees, and his reign to an end: Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, popularly known as Evans. In February 2017, the IGP Special Squad freed Prof Peter Breunig, a German archaeologist kidnapped by bandits in Southern Kaduna and his associate, Johannes Buringer, in what was a major success in the fight against kidnapping. The Police also secured the release of Maj-Gen Alfred Nelson, the Deputy High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to Nigeria, who was kidnapped by men of the underworld. The capture and killing of armed robbery kingpin, Henry Chibueze, who terrorised the South-east region from his den in Imo State, is another landslide achievement of the IGP. He provided security cover for air travellers to and from Kaduna, during the temporary closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. He deployed 350 policemen to ensure security of passengers along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway and aerial surveillance by police helicopters which assisted in checking criminal activities in the area during the period. He ensured that police checkpoints scattered across the country are taken down. This order has since taken effect and has affected all the states except checkpoints within states where extraordinary measures are still in place in response to attacks blamed on the Boko Haram sects, recurring herdsmen/famers CLASHES or the menace of kidnapping. This he did to put decency and order to national policing. Regular patrols by well-motivated police personnel have effectively replaced these checkpoints. The lawlessness of detaining suspects in police cells without charge for more than 24 hours has been discontinued, while the law on detention of persons is currently being strictly applied: these also accrue to IGP Idris. Another thought-provoking achievement of this great IGP is the leading role he is playing to establish inter-agency cooperation to make Nigeria safer and more secure. He has strengthened the relationship between the Police Force and other sister security agencies through courtesy visits to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Chief of Air Staff (CAS), the Comptroller-General of Customs, Commandant-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other relevant organisations. Moreover, the Inspector-General has established the Eminent Persons Group across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT with a view to engaging all relevant stakeholders; traditional rulers, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Market Women Association, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and many others to make inputs into how society can become safer and more secure. Idris is the first IGP to create the stage for mutuality/ cordiality between the police and civil society through his programme “Civil Society interface with IGP.” The first meeting took place on February 20, 2017 at Ikeja, Lagos. “We are building a new Police that is owned by Nigerians. We want a new strategy that will define policing from a different paradigm. It’s a challenge, but we are up to the task,” he said. Consequently, the IGP has introduced continual training of officers on human rights, peace and conflict resolution and anti-corruption, to enhance the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force. This is periodically done across the 12 police zonal commands in Nigeria. The first was held simultaneously across the 12 commands from the 19th to 21st October, 2016 and, Abia State from 12th – 14th March, 2018, among others (two years behind). As a trained, polished and intelligent police officer, Idris held on to the value of on-the-job training: thus, he became the first-ever IGP in Nigeria to introduce periodical Police Security Summit in various zones throughout the federation. On August 4, 2017, in Lagos for South-west, themed: Providing Strategic Solutions Emergent Security Challenges: Essentials of Synergy Among Security Agencies And the Civil Populace. On October 3, 2017, Akwa Ibom State for the South-south, themed Insecurity: Socio-economic Impacts And Conflict Resolution Perspectives. On February 8, 2018, Kaduna for the northern zone; theme: Nation-building: Security Challenges And The Need For Inclusive Approach. South-east summit will be held on July 5, 2018 (This is January 2019). The recent stakeholders summit themed "Election Security: Collaboration Between The Nigeria Police And Other Stakeholders Towards The Success Of The 2019 General Elections" was a huge success on the part of the Inspector-General of Police. Idris has successful conducted both governorship and National Assembly rerun elections, namely: *Edo State governorship election held on 28/09/2016 *Ondo State governorship election held on 26/11/2016 *National Assembly rerun election in Imo and Kogi 23/07/2016 *Rivers State National Assembly rerun election 10/12/2016 *Anambra State governorship election held on 18/11/2017 *Anambra Central Senatorial rerun election held on 13/01/2018 *Ekiti State gubernatorial election held on July 14, 2018 *Osun State gubernatorial election held on September 22, 2018. Prosecution of electoral offenders: During the December 10, 2016 Rivers State rerun (National Assembly) election, six police officers who violated the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) were tried, found guilty and dismissed from the Force, while 23 INEC staff were arraigned in court, and undergoing prosecution. The sum of ₦114,000,000 recovered from the INEC staff was deposited in Federal Government Treasury as exhibit. Idris is not oblivious to the loyalty of his officers and men, consequently, he has placed high premium on their welfare, as a way of encouraging them to do more. Already, Housing and Mortgage projects have commenced in many states through PPP arrangements for the construction of affordable mass housing for officers and men of the Force. Unlike in the past when policemen went on strike over their entitlements, officers now get their salaries and allowances as and when due through the introduction of IPPIS. The Police Trust Fund Bill and Police Mortgage Bank is the brain-child of IGP Idris. As a gender friendly police officer, he has ensured the posting of female officers in command positions in states; it is boosting the morale of female police officers. Perhaps, Idris is one of a few IGPs that operate an open-door policy. He has received different groups across the country on courtesy calls. The UNBIASED investigation and detaining of both past and sitting corrupt senior government officials without fear or sentiment is so commendable. These meritorious works have not gone unnoticed on the international scene. In 2017, an international recognition came the way of the IGP, with his election, by African Police Chiefs as the Vice-chairman of the regional police body. In his keynote address on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during the 9th General Assembly of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, Idris said his “successes” in the police was because of a Code of Conduct for Police Officers, which he said he successfully “institutionalised”. “The code is otherwise called Our Creed,” Idris said. “This code of conduct for police officers has succeeded in ELIMINATING all forms of illegal and unlawful conducts that are not in conformity with the principles of democratic policing…” The record-breaking achievement of Inspector-General of Police, Idris, no doubt, is a strong yardstick for tenure elongation. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/13/record-breaking-achievements-igp-idris-adewole-kehinde/

Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has said that he has no regrets relating well with President Muhammadu Buhari. The governor said this in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C. Don Adinuba, in Awka, the capital, on Friday. Obiano stated that the good relationship between the Federal Government, led by the All Progressives Congress and Anambra State Government, controlled by the All Progressives Grand Alliance, had “contributed in no small measure to the unrivalled social harmony in the state which has made Anambra one of the most competitive states in the country.” He said, “Not only do we have excellent relations with all state governments in Nigeria, we also enjoy warm relations with all political parties and their members, including candidates in the 2019 general elections. “We don’t discriminate in this state and this is visible in our administration as it is made up of members of the Peoples Democratic Party, the All Progressives Congress, and a number of non-Anambra indigenes. “We are proud that Anambra is today the most peaceful, the most cohesive and the most inclusive state throughout the country.” He attributed the level of cooperation among federal and state agencies in the state to his strategy to make Anambra “the investment destination of first choice in Nigeria”. “I have consistently stated that investments are important for places to be peaceful and stable,” he said. He commended intelligence and security agencies in the state for providing impressive security, especially during the last Yuletide. Obiano said, “Frankly, I think other parts of the country should come to Anambra State and see how not only federal agencies work together but also how national and sub-national organisations cooperate fully with one another for the benefit of the people.” http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/12/breaking-weve-no-regrets-relating-buhari-says-obiano/

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said this year’s election in Kwara State will not be determined by playing the regional or religious cards, but by issues of good governance and the improvement on the social well-being of the people. The Minister, who made the remarks in Ilorin on Thursday, at a sensitisation forum for APC Women Leaders across the 16 Local Governments in Kwara, said because of their desperation to retain power, the political oligarchs in the state have now resorted to playing the regional and religious cards to hoodwink the people. “In this season of politics, everything goes. We are therefore calling on our people to beware of those who are trying to sell snake oil to them. The issues we are concerned with here in Kwara have to do with good governance and better life for our people. Our problem is not ethnicity, it is not religion, it is not even gender. “These elections will not be determined on the basis of ethnicity, religion or gender. The main issues here have to do with how our state has been governed in the past 50 years, 40 of which have been dominated by them. What has happened to the commonwealth, which has been cornered by them at the expense of the people. Where are the roads and other infrastructures to justify the huge resources that have accrued to the state? If you follow a path for so long, and it leads you nowhere, won’t you try another path? These are the issues,” he said. Alhaji Mohammed dismissed as absolute lie the claim that some people want to take Kwara to the Southwest Geo-Political Zone. “I can speak for myself. I am a bona fide and proud Kwara citizen. My father and mother are from here. No question about that. Our gubernatorial candidate is unquestionably a proud Kwaran, from right here in Ilorin, and there are no questions about his origins. So who is the stranger here?” he queried. The Minister recalled that at the recent launch of the PDP campaigns in Kwara State, the party bigwigs claimed that President Buhari was the cause of the under-development in the state, while ignoring the fact that the Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa road, which they took to Bode Saadu where they launched their campaign, was rehabilitated by the Buhari administration. “That road was impassable during the time of the PDP, the same party they are now touting as the one with the magic wand,” he said. Alhaji Mohammed, who challenged the PDP government in Kwara to account for the several bailouts funds they have received from the Federal Government, said the state government could not pay workers’ salaries despite receiving bailouts and Paris Club refund. He said “the oligarchs who are doling out their personal funds to help offset workers’ salaries in Kwara are actually returning some of the commonwealth they have looted, hence their questionable benevolence should earn them nothing but public opprobrium.” The Minister tasked the women, whom he said are the closest to the grassroots, to go out and counter the many lies of the PDP, In her paper on the roles of women in politics, a Senior Lecturer of Mass Communication at the University of Ilorin, Dr. Sa’adat Beki, said it’s imperative for women to join politics in order to ensure that things are done properly. On her part, Mrs. Tawa Yusuf, who delivered a paper on behalf of the General Manager of Sobi FM, Mrs. Mairo Mustapha, on the expectations of Kwara women in the 2019 elections, charged the women to promote the “O to ge” (enough is enough) slogan from the home-front to ensure that all APC candidates are elected at the polls. APC stalwarts who attended the occasion include the party chairman, Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa; APC Women Leader Ramat Abolaji Okin, Chief Wole Oke, Senator Ahmed Mohammed and former Speaker Benjamin Issa. •Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed (middle); the Kwara State Chairman of the APC, Bashir Bolarinwa (right) and the State APC Women Leader, Alhaja Rahmat Abolaji Okin (left) at a sensitization forum for APC Women Leaders across the 16 Local government areas of Kwara State in Ilorin on Thursday. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/11/issues-not-cheap-sentiments-will-determine-2019-kwara-polls-says-lai-mohammed/

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, has challenged northern Nigerian elders to raise their voices against the endemic insecurity in the region just as they did during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Speaking in Lafia, Nasarawa State at the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday, Dogara noted that their silence on insecurity in the region could be taken as enabling the poor management of security in the country, especially in the north, a situation that continues to threaten our democracy and the very foundations of the country. He condemned sycophants, who elevate some public office holders to the status of God, saying that by so doing, they bring destruction upon the country and called on all Nigerians to rise up and rescue the country from the clutches of insecurity. “Just like my last speech to Nigerians that were gathered in a rally like this in Gombe, I said that the 2019 general elections is not about President Muhammadu Buhari, it’s not about Atiku Abubakar, but I said it is about you who are gathered here and it will be a referendum on insecurity and hunger in this land. “On the issue of insecurity, all of us know what is happening in Borno and, unfortunately too, between Abuja and Kaduna, as well as in Zamfara, Katsina, Nassarawa, Benue, Plateau and even Sokoto States. “Now, I cannot even mention all because it is a general problem in the county, but I was highlighting the states where the problem is more endemic as of now. The issue is this, when this thing was going on under Jonathan, we had Borno elders always speaking. “Where are the Borno elders now? Where are the leaders of Northern Nigeria now that this problem has become endemic? What are they saying now? Are we not guilty of what we allow? Are we nit reaponsible for the killings by our enabkith to say that enough is enough and demand aa of right that President Buhari puts and end to this or leave if he cant? “The truth is that if we don’t rise up to the endemic challenges now, sooner than later, if things continue this way, we are not going to have a country. So it is our responsibility to rescue Nigeria from the clutches of insecurity. Without security; we would not have a meaningful democracy. “The sad reality in Nigeria is that by our silence we have condoned those who have been unable to effectively tackle the insecurity in the nation. We have have wittingly become enablers of evil. You know what enablers do? Enablers don’t build a country only courageous people do. “What enablers do is that they instigate the worship of individuals and the office they occupy, they Will confuse such an individual with accolades. You know none of us was built to receive worship, anyone who attempts to receive worship will meet destruction in his wake. “So that is why we are witnessing destruction in Nigeria, because we have elevated some human beings to the status of God. We now need to rise up and rescue our country from the clutches of insecurity.” http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/10/dogara-impacts-northern-pioneers-elites-not-scrutinizing-buhari-like-jonathan/

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says it is ready to host the first Lassa fever international conference, in the country. The Chief Executive Officer, NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, made this known in statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja. Ihekweazu said that this was to mark 50 years since the Lassa fever virus was first isolated in a town in Nigeria. He said that the conference, to be organised in partnership with other stakeholders, would hold between Jan. 16 and Jan. 17, in Abuja. “The opportunity created by the ‘anniversary’ of the discovery of the virus, is being used to bring researchers and practitioners from across the world. “The researchers and practitioners will share and appraise global efforts towards the control of the Lassa fever virus disease,” Ihekweazu said. According to him, the conference will also be an opportunity to increase global health focus on the disease, which was found mostly in West Africa. The NCDC chief executive added that as awareness and disease surveillance systems improve across West African countries, more cases were being detected. According to him, this has created an increased sense of urgency for the global health community to do more through better prevention, disease detection, control and case management efforts. “In 2018, the World Health Organisation launched its Research and Development blueprint, highlighting the potential of Lassa fever and a selected list of diseases to lead to public health emergencies. “This plan highlights the absence of efficacious drugs and vaccines, and further highlights the urgent need for accelerated research and development,” he said. Ihekweazu further said that the conference would afford the global audience to learn about efforts towards new strategies to prevent transmission of the virus from rodents to human. He also said that new approaches to mitigating hospital transmission of the disease as well as new insights into the social context of Lassa transmission would be known. The NCDC boss said that current efforts on new Lassa fever vaccines, therapeutics and clinical treatment approaches would also be key highlights at the conference. ”To prepare for the conference, NCDC called for scientific efforts into prevention, detection and control efforts to be showcased at the conference. ”This yielded more 500 abstracts from which 160 top quality papers were selected. In addition, travel scholarships were granted to 80 researchers from across Nigeria and West Africa. ”With this, NCDC will work with partners to develop a strong reform agenda for Lassa fever control in Nigeria and globally,” he said. NAN reports that the conference would bring stakeholder together for a meeting full of learning and exchange of ideas. The Federal Government has finally set a date for the transmission of a bill for a new national minimum wage to the National Assembly. The move is aimed at stopping the organized labor from embarking on a strike about a month before the presidential election. With the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and its affiliate unions threatening a protest and a nationwide strike, the government on Tuesday agreed to send the bill on January 23. The decision came after three days of talks. Tuesday’s meeting held between 1 pm and 3:30 pm at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment. The labor unions agreed to the date but warned it would not tolerate a breach. The national president of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, urged the government to keep to the date so that the process can be completed. The FG has repeatedly dithered on the labour’s demand for a new wage figure, refusing to commit to N30,000 recommended by a tripartite committee. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/09/new-minimum-wage-fg-sets-date-transmission-bill-national-assembly/

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari administration is dead because of its failure to delivery on the its campaign promises to the people. The former Vice President noted that since the present government assumed office over four years ago, the Buhari administration has taken steps to promote widespread decadence in national economy, a development he lamented had produced unprecedented expansion in the level of poverty, unemployment and misery in the land. Speaking on Monday at a political rally in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, Atiku criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration for non-payment of salaries and allowances of workers. He said: “The unemployment rate which is very prominent in Kogi State and the whole country is a disaster; you know our number one programme of the next PDP government is the creation of job. I want to commit to you before you that we will create as many jobs as possible to reduce the unemployment. “The inland Ports which this government has abandoned, we started it; when you vote for PDP, we will come back and complete it for you. Kogi State is endowed with so many natural resources, look we want to convert those natural resources into tangible resources and the resources that can contribute to the improvement of your lives and that can bring development”. He further stated: “We will make sure all the infrastructural development projects that had been abandoned are completed. “I have always advocated for the restructuring of this country. If there is any state that is going to be beacon of progress, a beacon of hope after restructuring, is kogi State because Kogi State has all what it takes to be one of the most promising states in this country. “Therefore, do not be deceived by APC, you have seen them, you have voted for them, what have they done in this four years? What have they done here in Kogi State? They can not even pay salaries and pensions. Schools are not working, hospitals are not working, this is a dead government and we have the opportunity to correct it now. We made the mistake, I made the mistake, today, we have retraced our steps and we are determined to correct the mistake that has been made. How many of you will vote for PDP?” He condemned what he called government tendencies to clampdown on opposition politicians stating specifically that “Kogi State has one of the most prominent young politicians in this country who has been a victim. Today, he is under detention, unlawful detention for that matter. “Dino, Dino. Free Dino! Dino!! , Free Dino! , Free Dino!!” he shouted and the crowd chorused after him. He assured Nigerians of his commitment to the revival of the power sector, stating that “Ajaokuta is the legacy of the PDP. The power stations, Geregu 1 and 2 are the legacies of PDP. I am here to pledge to you that if you vote for PDP and you return me as President, all those projects that have been abandoned by this government, I will complete them for you”. In his remarks, Senate President and Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Bukola Saraki, lamented the growing level of poverty and urged supporters not to ignore that factor during voting. “Come February 16, when it is time to vote we will remember one thing, the poverty and the hunger. Also, the insecurity is too much. These are not meant for Nigeria, we are not born to suffer. So people of Kogi most go out on that day, but if you believe that this hunger is not enough you can follow them. But if you know is time that we end this hunger in this country, this is the man you will vote for for (pointing to Atiku)”. In a reference to the controversial remarks in a recently released audio tape, Saraki said: “My own Presidential candidate cares, my own Presidential candidate knows, my own Presidential candidate reads. My own Presidential candidate is ready to move Nigeria forward. So my people of Kogi, it is a serious matter”. Other personalities at the event include the PDP Vice Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi; former governors of the state, Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada as well as National Assembly members from the state. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/08/breaking-atiku-declares-buharis-administration-dead/

A new regulation in Saudi Arabia is set to stop Saudi women from being divorced without their knowledge. Starting from Sunday, courts will be required to notify women by text on rulings confirming their divorces. Local female lawyers suggest the measure will end what are known as secret divorces - cases where men end a marriage without telling their wives. The directive would ensure women are fully aware of their marital status and can protect rights such as alimony. Last year, a decades-old driving ban on women was lifted in Saudi Arabia. However, women still remain subject to male guardianship laws. "The new measure ensures women get their [alimony] rights when they're divorced," Saudi lawyer Nisreen al-Ghamdi told Bloomberg. "It also ensures that any powers of attorney issued before the divorce are not misused." Many women have filed appeals to courts over being divorced without their knowledge, lawyer Samia al-Hindi told local newspaper Okaz. The new step is said to be part of economic and social reforms pushed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, such as allowing women to attend football matches and work in jobs traditionally reserved for men. Mr Chibuke Ameachi, Minister for Transportation and Director General (DG) of Buhari Campaign Organisation, has said the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) was responsible for the current challenges Nigerians were passing through. Ameachi said this at the flag-off of Gov. Simon Lalong’s re-election bid on Friday in Jos. According to him, the hunger, poverty and under-development being faced in the country was because PDP diverted huge monies meant for the public into private use in its 16-year rule. “If today Nigerians are hungry, it is because in its 16-year rule, the PDP stole monies meant for development of critical sectors of the economy. “For 16 years, they gave us 3, 000 mega watts of electricity, today the current administration produces 7,000 mega watts. “Because they diverted huge public funds, we were importing rice, but today the story is different and our local farmers are smiling to the banks. “So, PDP is full of dishonest people and that is why they stole all our money,” he said. Ameachi, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, noted that to address poverty, hunger and under-development, the present government is working in that regard. He urged Plateau residents to vote President Mohammadu Buhari, and Lalong for a second term, adding that the forthcoming polls would be a tussle between the “greedy rich versus the poor masses”. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/05/pdp-ruined-nigeria-buhari-campaign-dg-amaechi/

Members of the 8th Senate have agreed to put aside their differences and work in harmony for the progress of Nigeria, former Majority Leader, Sen. Ali Ndume, (APC-Borno South), has said. Ndume spoke with State House correspondents after leading the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Taraba, Sani Danladi, to a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday at the Presidential Villa. He said that Nigerians had been supportive of the National Assembly and expected so much from it, but regretted that leadership crisis made the 8th Senate to perform below the expectations of Nigerians. “The legislative arm which is supposed to be interdependent was more or less independent and extensively antagonistic; and to some extent, you can say the leadership has been sabotaging the activities of the executive instead of cooperating with the executive to deliver the services Nigerians are expecting from us. “I am accusing specifically, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, not the leadership so to say; as I have said several times, we elected the Senate leader who turned out to be Senators’ President. “We have a leftover time of six months and we have agreed on cease fire including the Senate President himself; that we put the interest of Nigerians first. “That was why when we resumed, we have been able to pass certain outstanding bills and we have agreed to work together; the interest of the nation first before party’s interest or any other individual’s interest. “Any breach in that agreement that we have, will also send us back to our trenches.’’ On the 2019 budget proposal, Ndume said that timely passage of the budget was important as it was one of the agreements the senators had. According to him, the budget belongs to Nigerians and Nigerians are expecting that the budget be passed as quickly as possible so that the content of the budget will be delivered to Nigerians. He said that anybody that tried to stand on the way of the budget would be seen as a saboteur to Nigerians. Ndume said that APC senators were fully in support of the budget because they had input in it. “It is a budget of continuity; it is a realistic budget. “So we are not expecting any hiccup but as usual, the normal dragging will continue but we will resist it and make sure that we are sent to the National Assembly, that is to work for Nigerians comes first before any other interest.’’ On the hue and cry over the appointment of Amina Zakari as head of its collation centre for the forthcoming presidential election, Ndume, said that her relationship with Buhari had nothing to do with her assigned role. He chided the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying the party had resorted to what he described as CCC. “PDP is now is concentrating on what I call the CCC instead of doing what is the right thing. `They are concentrating on complaining, criticising and contradicting themselves instead of campaigning. “We in the APC; we said it initially and we even have a manual of campaign and that is to discuss issues, ideals, integrity and things that will move this country forward but as usual is the main opponent now; that is what makes it easy for APC. “PDP ruled this country for 16 years; instead of giving Nigerians democracy; they were practicing Kleptocracy; and after Nigerians tasted three years of democracy now, they are struggling to take us back to the period of their kleptocractic governance and Nigerians will not accept that. “This election is going to be the choice of Nigerians; to choose either to go back to the government of Kleptocracy or continue with government of democracy,’’ he said. He told the correspondents that he had been appointed the Director-General, Campaign, in the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC for the North-East. http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/04/saraki-ndume-reveals-senators-final-decision-meeting-buhari/

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), has condemned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, appointment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s niece, Amina Zakari as its head of Collation Center for the 2019 elections. Reacting, Huriwa in a statement by Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and Zainab Yusuf, the group’s National Coordinator and National Media Affairs Director, respectively, gave the INEC 48 hours to rescind the appointment. HURIWA said the appointment showed clear signs that the forthcoming presidential poll has already been “technically manipulated”, following the choice “of a biological relation of President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs. Amina Zakari, to head the core committee to co-ordinate the collation of results of the general election”. HURIWA also asked the National Assembly to declare a state of electoral emergency and pass a vote-of-no-confidence in the hierarchy of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The statement read: “We have just ended a six hours long national emergency parley in Abuja of our core national leaders and the leaderships of over 35 non-governmental organisations and our attention dovetailed into the emerging but very extensively ethically damaging national emergency now occasioned by the illegal and immoral appointment of Mrs Amina Zakari, the blood relation of President Muhammadu Buhari, to head the collation of results team for the most strategic national election in Nigeria’s nascent democracy, in which her uncle, President Muhammadu Buhari, is desperately interested in winning a second tenure and is hotly contested by some distinguished Nigerians. “This aberration of this heavily compromised INEC is like making a sister of a goalkeeper of one of the two competing football teams as the central referee of the most competitive finalists’ match and you expect that there will be fair play and justice. Doing such a morally damaging action is like match-fixing. What has happened today in INEC, with the ill-advised decision of Yakubu Mahmood to give the most sensitive appointment to the biological sibling of a major contender in the same electoral contest, amounts to the electoral equivalent of match fixing. “This current chairman of INEC is surely an agent of destabilisation and electoral manipulation. We have, on many occasions asked for the removal of the duo of the chairman of INEC and the niece of the president, Mrs Zakari Amina, who is a national commissioner in INEC because we have always maintained that she has played less than dignified roles as INEC’s national commissioner in the last three years to such an extent that almost all of the elections conducted in the last three years in which she played pivotal supervisory roles have always ended up being manipulated in favour of the political platform of her uncle and the All Progressives Congress whose tendencies have whittled down the integrity and credibility of the electoral process in the country. “We are giving the INEC chairman 48 hours to rescind this toxic decision or the organised civil society community will meet and take a range of actions to draw the attention of the global community to this criminality and outright rigging that has already started to unfold. “Nigerians of good conscience must reject this criminality of INEC and we call on the National Assembly to rescue the February presidential election from the clutches of hawks in the presidency bent on rigging the election by all means and foisting an unpopular winner on Nigerians, which may snowball into long drawn civil strife with broad-based consequences for the survival of constitutional democracy. “Nigeria is about to be destroyed through carefully choreographed electoral heist and the world watches without acting to stave off the danger which could constitute the greatest threat to Africa and the world.” http://mcebiscoo.com/2019/01/04/huriwa-gives-inec-48hrs-rescind-appointment-amina-zakari-tells-nass/
