Residents of a Plateau community have raised an alarm over a young boy who was allegedly tortured to death by soldiers over an incident of a stolen phone.

The life of an 18-year-old secondary school-leaver, Amadu Atajan, has come to a tragic end after he was allegedly tortured by some soldiers attached to the Special Task Force, Sector 7, Sha District, in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Atajan, who gave up the ghost on Wednesday, reportedly died from internal injuries he sustained in the hands of the soldiers.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the victim was assaulted on the account of his friend who reported a case of a stolen phone to the men sometime last week.

It was gathered that Atajan had attended the friend’s secondary school graduation in July during which he collected his Android phone to take pictures.

While the fun went on, another friend of the host was said to have collected the phone from Atajan under false pretences of using it to take pictures.

The friend allegedly left the event surreptitiously with the phone while efforts to locate him proved abortive.

Our correspondent learnt that Atajan pleaded with his friend to give him time so he could raise funds to buy another phone.

A native of the community, John Akans, who spoke to Saturday PUNCH on the telephone on Thursday, said Atajan’s friend agreed to the plea, but made a U-turn last week and reported the case to the soldiers.

He stated that the soldiers took the 18-year-old to their base and beat him up until he went into a coma.

Akans, who posted the picture of the victim on Facebook while he was on a stretcher, said he was rushed to the general hospital in the neighbourhood.

He said, “About one month ago, his (Atajan’s) close friend invited him to his secondary school graduation. The friend gave him an Android phone which they used to take pictures. Somebody came and begged him to give him the phone so he could use it to snap. He innocently gave him the phone, but the boy disappeared with the phone. They looked for him within the school premises but could not locate him.

“The victim begged his friend that he gave the phone to the boy innocently. He begged the friend that his father would deal with him if he knew about the phone. He asked the friend to give him time to pay for the phone. They agreed on that arrangement.

“All of a sudden last week, the friend reported him to some soldiers at Sector 7 of the Special Task Force, who invited him. He told them that he never knew the boy would flee with the phone and that he had pleaded with his friend to give him time.”

Akans told our correspondent that Atajan’s explanation fell on deaf ears as the soldiers reportedly tied him up and beat him with iron rods.

“Before he died, he narrated how he was tortured. He said, the soldiers hanged him upside down and tied his hands to his back. They beat him with iron rods and sticks.

“He collapsed and was rushed to Bokkos General Hospital. He was revived at the hospital but after three days, his condition worsened. It was discovered that he had internal bleeding as a result of the torture. Unfortunately, he passed on on Wednesday. He was 18-year-old; he just finished secondary school.

“This matter must be treated seriously and urgently. Nigerians must not be killed by security agents who are supposed to protect them,” Akans, who is based in Jos, the state capital, added.

The deceased’s parents, who live in the remote community, could not be reached on the telephone for comments as of press time.

When contacted on the incident, the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu, said he was on an official assignment in Borno State and directed our correspondent to the acting Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. John Agim.

A text message sent to Agim had yet to be responded to as of press time.

Leader of the Biafran Independent Movement (BIM) and Founder, Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, on Thursday, announced that the ongoing sale of 2018 Biafra income tax was part of its annual exercise aimed at achieving the independence of Biafra without violence.

Uwazuruike, who addressed his members on the significance of the new Biafra income tax, urged the Igbo to always feel very proud that Igbo is their tribe and Biafra, their identity.

The MASSOB leader also enjoined all Biafrans to visit any BIM – MASSOB secretariat nearest to them to pay their tax which he said is voluntary.

In a press statement signed by his personal Assistant on media and publicity, Mazi Chris Anierobi Mocha, Uwazuruike added that the long awaited God’s plan for Nigeria has finally come, stressing that every event happening in the country today is for the overall good of the Biafra struggle for independence.

Girlfriend of murdered Nigerian model in London has finally broken her silence since the incident happened.

The girlfriend of a murdered male model says she has received death threats after being named during the trial of her boyfriend's killers.

George Koh, 24, was convicted of stabbing his more successful fashion rival Harry Uzoka 25, in the heart.

The court heard Koh bragged about having s-x with Mr Uzoka's girlfriend, Ruby Campbell, who is also a model.

She has taken to social media to deny having s-x with Koh and said she had received "multiple death threats".

In an Instagram post accompanying a picture of her and Mr Uzoka, she insisted she had never met Koh, who stabbed her boyfriend in the heart while she was away working in Los Angeles and Sweden.

She wrote: "Harry died because a man had a jealous obsession with Harry. He came to his house with his two friends, knives and intentions to kill,

"Since this event has happened I'm so sad and heartbroken. I had finally found someone I was so happy with and he was taken from me."

Ms Campbell said the tragedy had been "twisted" by the press and social media users "to make it seem like I was the bad guy in this situation or this was a fight about me".

"This makes me so sad," her post continued. "I have had a hard time this year grieving and I am still grieving.

"Harry was my love. I have never lost a person in my life and I'm receiving multiple death threats and multiple social media accounts using a tragedy as click bait."

Mr Uzoka was signed with London's Premier Model Management agency and counted catwalk star Jourdan Dunn among his friends. He had landed a film role shortly before he was killed outside his Shepherd's Bush home, in west London, on 11 January.

His murder trial heard he fell out with Koh after he bragged to Paris-based model Annecetta Lafon that he had sex with Ms Campbell.

Prosecutor Richard Horwell QC said: "Koh claimed that he knew Uzoka well and then said that he had sex with Uzoka's girlfriend and that was the reason why they no longer talked."

Mr Uzoka collapsed and died after he and his flatmate, armed only with dumbbell bars, went to settle a dispute with Koh, who was himself accompanied by two friends.

Koh was found guilty of murder, along with Merse Dikanda, 24.

Personal trainer Jonathan Okigbo, also 24, was acquitted of murder but convicted of manslaughter.

All three men will be sentenced on 21 September.

A man suspected to be mentally challenged man has reportedly killed a herbalist in Oba Aguleri in the Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Southern City News gathered that the incident triggered protest in the area leading to destruction of properties while business activities were grounded.

A source, who pleaded anonymity for fear of attack, mentioned that trouble began when the herbalist, whose name could not be ascertained as of press time, tied a goat that he bought for sacrifice to a tree and went into the market to pick other items, but did not see the goat when he returned.

The source said:

“The native doctor enquired about the whereabouts of his goat as soon he noticed its sudden disappearance.

“He was informed that a madman untied it and took it to his house few kilometres away. They gave him the direction to the madman’s house and he went straight to the place.

“When he got there, he met the madman already slaughtering the goat. The madman told the herbalist that it was not only the herbalist that had a right to eat goat every day; saying it was his (madman’s) turn to eat the day’s goat.

“While the herbalist was still challenging the madman, the madman quickly dashed into his room and came out with a machete.

“The herbalist took to his heels on sighting the machete in the hand of the madman, but the madman pursued him and caught up with him and hacked him. The native doctor bled to death before help could come his way.”

Irate youths in the area mobilised and stormed the madman’s house to avenge the killing of their kinsman.

It was gathered that the intervention of security operatives prevented the situation from degenerating into a communal crisis.

When contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident and disclosed that the suspect had been arrested.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the demolition of a building belonging to musical maestro, Yinka Aiyefele, in Ibadan by the Oyo State Government.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan on Sunday in Abuja, the party described the demolishing of the building, said to be worth N800 million, as “horrifying, wicked and speaks volume of the insensitivity of the perpetrators”.

DAILY POST recalls that the building, which also houses Aiyefele’s Flash FM station and recording studio, was said to have been brought down in spite of a court order.

According to PDP,”Aiyefele’s building was demolished for allegedly singing songs considered to be against the interest of the All Progressives Congress (APC), even when our Constitution allows all citizens right to free speech, freedom of opinion and association within the ambit of the law.

“The PDP alerts Nigerians of a dangerous trend whereby the current clampdown on the media is now being extended to other public opinion moulders, including musicians and perhaps actors.”

Ologbondiyan urged all public spirited groups and individuals to condemn what he described as “emerging assault on free citizens for no just cause”.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Sunday alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari was planning to arrest former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Senate President, Bukola Saraki and others.

He made the allegation while cautioning Buhari over a reported statement credited to the President that he will jail some Nigerians.

Frank, who considered the statement as a threat to Nigetians, called on Buhari to look inward within his administration, if he was looking for looters to jail.

Buhari had reportedly told newsmen in an interview upon his arrival to Abuja on Saturday that he was going to jail more of the thieves that brought economic problems to the country.

However, Frank, in a statement he personally signed and sent to DAILY POST, revealed that even before the president himself made it public, “sources have informed some opposition leaders how the presidency was planning to arrest the likes of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President Bukola Saraki among others.”

According to Frank, President Buhari has returned to continue persecution of his political opponents and selective fight against corruption.

He said, “I want to tell you, Mr. President that you are presiding over the worst and most corrupt administration ever. If you realy want to fight corruption why not start from your kitchen cabinet and the leadership of APC?

“Nigerians and international community are fully aware that all you have been doing is not fighting corruption but your perceived political enemies.

“Against this backdrop we have reliably gathered that the current administration have penciled down the likes of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President Bukola Saraki among others to be arrested and detained ahead of the general elections in the name of fighting corruption.”

Frank pointed out that Nigeria is currently in a democratic system of government which requires that a competent court must find someone guilty of any allegation before he or she can be sent to prison.

While calling on the President to fully imbibe democratic culture, he said if the President carefully searches his government with an open mind, “he will realise that he is surrounded by thieves.

“It is no longer hidden that president Buhari’s party, the APC is now a heaven for looters. So many known thieves who have stolen Nation’s common wealth at all levels are not congregating in the ruling party. So, if President Buhari will make do with his threat, I will suggest that he stary with his party members.”

Frank continued that the President himself, who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum, has not made known to Nigerians the budget of his Ministry, not to talk of how much the country generates from the sale of oil daily since his assumption of office three years ago.

While also reminding the President that Nigerians have not forgotten the $43m that was found in an Ikoyi house, he challenged him to make public the report of a panel of enquiry set up in the same direction.

“Can Mr. President also tell Nigerians how much has been recovered so far since the begining of this jamboree talk of fighting corruption? Therefore, if all of these are still hidden, I think the President lack the moral right to talk about jailing anybody as if the country is in military rule,” Frank said.

The United Nations has reacted to the death of its former Secretary-General, Kofi Annan.

The 7th UN Secretary-General died in a hospital in Bern, Switzerland in the early hours of Saturday.

The current UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, paid glowing tributes to Annan, who headed the intergovernmental organisation from 1997 to 2006.

Guterres in a statement hailed Annan as “a guiding force for good” and a “proud son of Africa who became a global champion for peace and all humanity.”

“Like so many, I was proud to call Kofi Annan a good friend and mentor.

“I was deeply honoured by his trust in selecting me to serve as UN High Commissioner for Refugees under his leadership.

“He remained someone I could always turn to for counsel and wisdom – and I know I was not alone.

“He provided people everywhere with a space for dialogue, a place for problem-solving and a path to a better world.

“In these turbulent and trying times, he never stopped working to give life to the values of the United Nations Charter. His legacy will remain a true inspiration for all us.”

Annan was the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations, after Egyptian diplomat, Boutrous Boutrous-Ghali exit in December 1996.

The All Progressives Congress, APC has reacted to the defection of the Gombe State Minority Leader, Alhaji Ahmed Usman form the party to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Usman dumped APC on Thursday during plenary over several attempts by the ruling party to blackmail him.

Reacting to his defection, Naomi Awak, APC Public Relations Officer in Gombe, speaking with NAN, said the party was unmoved by his defection

She added that with or without him, APC would emerge victorious in the state during the forthcoming elections in 2019.

The former leader of the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, said on Thursday he would return to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in few days time.

Baraje said he would formally declare for PDP alongside few of his supporters in his ward in Ilorin, Kwara State.

He spoke to journalists during the graduation ceremony of the Baraje Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies in Ilorin.

He said: “If I tell you where I belong now, I am telling you because you asked me. But my formal declaration is coming up in few days time at my own ward. It is being arranged by my people.

“That means where my leader goes is where you will find me. I belong to the party that has made me and a party that has given me in-road into the politics of this country. I belong to the PDP and I have gone to the PDP meeting at Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja two months ago. There I made a statement that went viral and I think that was very indicative of where I belong. In few days now you will hear I am in my ward declaring for PDP along with my supporters.”

Speaking on Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s presidential ambition, Baraje added: “As a reminder Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has been trying his luck on being the president of this country since 2011. He withdrew for the then candidate Goodluck Jonathan. In 2015, he also withdrew for the present President Muhammadu Buhari. So for somebody who has been nursing that kind of ambition, is it not right for such person to come forward again?

“This present president came forward for four times before clinching it. Did anybody ask whether he was right or wrong? Totally, I am in his support. Whatever Nigeria is looking for is in him and what we are looking for is only a candidate that will unite Nigeria. Indications emerge on Wednesday that the Oyo State Government may finalise plans to bulldoze popular gospel musician, Yinka Ayefele’s Music House today.

The Music House valued at N800m is constructed on a plot of land on Lagos-Ibadan bye-pass in Challenge area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The government issued a notice for the demolition of the building, saying the property owner had allegedly ignored its requests for the owner to obey its notice.

The three-day notice lapsed yesterday.

The building houses Ayefele’s Fresh FM, which is among the top private radio stations in the state.

The Director of Corporate Affairs and Promotions, David Ajiboye, stirred the controversy when he wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday evening that the demolition notice was issued because “the staff canteen in the premises was not approved, the spiral staircase was not in the approved plan, the mast was not in the approved plan and the fence was not in the approved plan”.

Ajiboye added: “…Therefore, the entire N800 million edifice where almost 150 people make their daily bread has to go down. You are all invited to the demolition show at the Music House tomorrow.”

Expectedly, the post generated criticisms of the planned exercise across Ibadan.

But in a statement, the government said the demolition notice to Music House, Fresh FM 105.9 Ibadan was not based on sentiments or witch-hunting.

It said contravention notices were served to different organisations since June 14, last year, including all radio stations in the state.

The government said Music House ignored its request for an application for a new building plan, having established, through an inspection, that the building violated its original plan.

The building owner allegedly ignored government request.

The statement by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun, also said property owners were deviating from the originally approved building plans without seeking physical planning approvals from the State Bureau of Physical Planning and Development Control.

The commissioner said the government decision to demand for the building approved plan was not peculiar to Fresh FM.

He said several companies and institutions, such as the University of Ibadan (UI), Kola Daisi University, University College Hospital (UCH), banks and radio stations, were similarly asked to provide their approved plans.

According to him, the government recently demolished several banks’ ATM extensions and some local government structures.

Arulogun said the letter to Fresh FM was received by Bamiduro Aderonke and a reminder letter, dated August 18, last year, was sent to the radio station to request for the planning approval/permit for the radio station, in line with the Oyo State Physical and Development Control laws.

Under the statute, the commissioner said the radio station was expected to forward the approved building plan to the bureau within seven days.

He added that a copy of the letter was received by Adebisi Akinfunmi on August 21, last year.

Arulogun said the submitted building approval was meant for an office complex and not a radio station, thereby contravening the Oyo State Physical Planning and Development Control laws, sections 30, 31 and 32 of Oyo State Physical Planning and Urban Development Law of 2012.

The commissioner recalled that the submitted approval from Music House deviated from the approved plan, which made the approval null and void because deceitful information was given to the approving authority and deviation from the approval granted in construction and use.

He said a physical inspection was carried out on June 25 to ascertain the extent of the deviation from the approval.

Arulogun said it was discovered that apart from the change in the use of the building, spatial standards in setback, airspace and parking spaces were found to be grossly inadequate.

The commissioner recalled that a letter was sent to Music House on June 29 to submit a fresh building plan application that would reflect existing structures on site.

He added noting that the radio house “deliberately” ignored the letter, as there was no response from the owner’s end till date.

Arulogun noted that the deviant posture of the radio station prompted the bureau to serve a three-day demolition nNotice on August 13, which expired yesterday.

The commissioner said the government had also received petitions arising from three fatal accidents that occurred around Music House in the last nine months.

He said the petitioners urged the government to look at the physical structure of the organisation in relation to the dual carriage way which could easily cause accidents.

Arulogun emphasised that the government would follow due process in accordance with the laws of the land but would not dignify or elevate the recalcitrant attitude of Fresh FM.

Also, Ayefele yesterday described the state government’s claim on the demolition notice served against his building as a mere excuse to defend its hidden plan to pull down the property.

In a personal statement in Ibadan, Ayefele, who is the Chairman/CEO of Yinka Ayefele Limited, said the construction of Music House followed due process.

The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a purported press release by Mr Arulogun …that the Music House complex contravenes planning laws and is responsible for three fatal accidents that occurred on the road in the last nine months on which the government had received petitions.

“We want to make it clear that Music House followed due process in the construction of the building and got relevant approvals from state departments and agencies associated with land and buildings.

“Saying that Music House complex is responsible for three accidents that occurred on the road in the last nine months is just an attempt by the commissioner to run away from his shadow. How can a reasonable person say that?

“It is not news that the governor himself said some politicians came to him to demolish the Music House complex because Ayefele is not in their camp and he also sang against them…”

Last week, reports went viral that Davido’s over seven million followers on Instagram might have been cloned or fake followers. This was based on an accusation by two Instagram users, @kinglucyy and @amarabiish, who said that the total number of ‘comments’ shown on Davido’s Instagram page don’t tally with actual number of ‘comments’ displayed.

Reactions to the accusation have been streaming in, in defence of the Nigerian pop idol. An artiste manager, Babatunde Oyebode, popularly known as Baudex in the entertainment circles has told Vanguard Ripples in a chat that the two Instagram users who went to a great deal of trouble to count the number of ‘comments’ displayed on Davido’s Instagram page against the number of actual ‘comment’ on the page are wrongly guarded because of their inadequacy of the knowledge of how the Instagram works.

“The point those users made was out of ignorance. They said Instagram shows that Davido has 1000 comments, meanwhile he took his time to count those comments by himself and he counted only 217 or something and he said because of that, it means Davido bought followers, it does not make sense.

This is how the algorithm works, the same thing happens to every celebrity Instagram, it happens to me also, where one can’t count every comment that was posted. This is because I use this Instagram comment option that allows me to filter the comments that people see.

If I don’t want any of my followers to see comments that have vulgar words or spam comments, I would ask Instagram not to show comments that have such words in it, these comments still counts as part of my comments but they just can’t be seen.

All you have to do is go to settings, comment controls, then you will see where you can filter the comments, then you will see ‘hide offensive comments’ and that will automatically hide comments that may be offensive from your post, then manual filter where you could add any set of words that you don’t like.

For me, I don’t like people asking me to follow them, so I added follow to my words, so, if you ask me to ‘follow’, it will not show on my page but will still count as a comment on my page,” he added.

Our attention has been drawn to the baseless, cheap and careless allegation leveled against uncommon Senator Godswill Akpabio by Twitter-Senator Ben Bruce claiming that Chief Akpabio masterminded the incidence that took place at the National Assemble today.

How can a Senator with the right frame of mind allege that Chief Akpabio is the instigator of the crisis that took place at the National Assembly and then rely on such cheap blackmail to petion the American and the British Embassies in Nigeria; asking them to revoke uncommon Senator Akpabio's visas.

If dishonourable Senator Ben Bruce has any personal issue with Chief Akpabio, we ask him to look elsewhere to express his bitter feelings towards him and not use the incidence at the National Assembly to blackmail him cheaply.

Senator Akpabio has served this country in various capacities and has never been found wanton or involved in any undemocratic process and we therefore wonder how dishonourable Senator Ben Bruce came up with his false allegation against him.

Hence, we found the allegation by dishonourable Senator Ben Bruce against Chief Akpabio as not only offensive but also a desperate attempt to discredit and disparage him before the right thinking members of the public.

We understand that Ben Bruce has some issues to settle with the Federal Government concerning his mind boggling debt to the Asset Management Company of Nigeria and is desperately looking for a helper who will help him avoid being declared bankrupt as well as taking over his companies.

We therefore urge the American and the British Embassies in Nigeria to ignore dishonourable Senator Bruce over his senseless utterances as that is a sign of a drowning man.

From his various utterances, we are not sure if he does not have an infirmity of the mind because we have watched him over the years and have not seen any meaningful contribution from him other than sleeping around with our young girls in the name of organising beauty pageants.

We therefore advice Mr. Ben Bruce to consult his Doctor before his madness goes out of control.

A lady took to social media to accuse police officers attached to Panti Police Station of negligence, and refusing to bring the criminal who robbed her in front of the police station to justice.

According to the lady, she was robbed by 6a.m and the 10 armed policemen who witnessed the incident told her they were busy.

My bag was hijacked this morning by 5am directly in front of the Panti police station. About 10 armed policemen WITNESSED it.I begged them to chase the guy since their truck was there. They said they are going somewhere and I need to go lodge a complaint inside the station.

Following the alleged involvement of Osun governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, in a secondary school certificate scandal, the embattled lawmaker has reacted to the raging controversy.

The gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the upcoming Osun State election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who was recently trailed with a secondary school certificate scandal, has finally spoken out.

Recall that the Nigerian Police last week Wednesday, invited the Principal of Ede Muslim High School 1, Abass Khalib, for investigation over the issuance of statement of result and testimonial to Adeleke, which some claimed was not genuine.

Abass was said to have allegedly signed the statement of results and testimonial of Mr Adeleke, who reportedly finished his secondary school education in 1981.

According to a new report by PREMIUM Times, while responding to the allegations, Adeleke, through the Director of Media and Publicity of Senator Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organization, Olawale Rasheed, in a statement on Sunday, demanded the release of the principal of Ede Muslim High School 1, adding that Abass’ arrest was politically motivated because of “date error”.

“We are constrained to issue this statement on the recent arrest and persecution of the principal of Ede Muslim High School over false accusations of forged school testimonial issued to Senator Ademola Adeleke as a former student of the school because of a date error.

“We note with great alarm the politically motivated arrest and unwarranted media attacks designed as a tool of harassment, persecution and character assassination of the PDP flag bearer, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke,” he said.

Adeleke called on police authorities to redirect their attention to “investigating and solving real crimes and not trumped up accusations”.

“It must be reaffirmed that issuance of a testimonial duly signed by authorities of the school to an ex-student cannot be a crime irrespective of the date on it.

“There is clearly more to this exercise than routine investigation. How can a date issue on a testimonial and not a certificate be a matter that attracts the attention of FCIB Alagbon officers from Lagos?

“We therefore call on the police authorities to unconditionally release Mr Abbass Khalib Adejare, the principal of Ede Muslim High School who is currently held in Lagos, a distant and disconnected jurisdiction of school in Ede, Osun State.

“The school under his supervision had only performed a legal administrative duty through the issuance of a testimonial. Please note that a testimonial is simply a statement of character attestation and confirmation of the years of attendance at the school and not a school certificate,” the statement read.

The spokesperson was silent on the allegations that Adeleke’s claim to have graduated from am American university is also false.

Frank Donga, comic-actor, says he is unperturbed about being typecast such that it will make it difficult for people to see him in other roles.

Donga, real name Kunle Idowu, described himself as an entertainer who aims to make people happy — like alter egos such as Mr Bean, Charlie Chaplin and Mr Spencer.

The actor said although he is not against exploring, he won’t be losing any sleep over the fear of being a stereotyped actor.

“I’m not worried about being typecast or stereotyped. The great legends like Charlie Chaplin, Aaron Lloyd, Mr Bean, Mr Spencer. Those are characters that you can relate with very easily,” he said.

“They have done other roles but those characters make us happy.

“I don’t think anyone wants to be typecast intentionally but that doesn’t mean you can’t explore like Samuel L Jackson who has done horror, comedy, action, drama.

“So, I am not afraid of being put into that category and it doesn’t stop me from exploring.”

Donga, who earned an AMAA 2018 nomination for best actor in a leading role, says it is “very humbling” that his work in ‘Hakkunde’ is being recognised.

The actor said he met Oluseyi Amuwa, director of the movie, while presenting an Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA) to him.

“During the shoot of The Wedding Party 1, he reached out and said he had a script for me,” he added.

Donga, who rose to fame through a web series about a naive job seeker, said he didn’t envisage his career trajectory.

He said: “I didn’t quite see it coming out this way. I mean, nobody wants to do something and not have a plan or a vision that it is going to grow.

“I was doing it principally to make people happy and to entertain people.”

The actor stars in the recently released ‘Seven and a Half Date’ and upcoming flick, ‘The Foreigner’s God’.

Former Big Brother Nigeria contestant, Uriel Oputa, has said that the constant body shaming she gets doesn’t affect her.

She told Sunday Scoop, “Body shaming does not affect me; I just move on. I feel people who do that are not confident in themselves. I feel those people are cowards who lack self-esteem. I have no plans to do a boob job.”

Speaking on her new talk show, Uriel Talks, she said;

“Uriel Talks is a talk show where I talk about issues that affect people. The last one I did was about whether it’s right to move in with your partner when you’re not married. These are things that happen every day so we’re just trying to analyse them.

It is an interactive show where people share different views and opinions. I talk a lot and I like to hear other people air their views as well. On the show, we talk about everything or anything. At the beginning of the show, I usually showcase a dish that I prepared beforehand. I have plans to take the show on TV but for now, it’s just on my Instagram page and YouTube.”

A former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Yusuf Gagdi was on Saturday involved in an auto crash.

His vehicle was reported to have ran into another vehicle being driven by a personnel of the Nigerian Airforce.

The accident involved about four vehicles.

The legislator, who presently represents Kantana constituency in Plateau State House of Assembly’s 4 MATIC Jeep with Abuja Registration No: ABJ – 511 AP, was damaged while he escaped with minor injuries and a bleeding mouth.

Punch gathered that the lawmaker, presently in the hospital, sustained serious wounds in his head.

He was said to be coming from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, when the accident happened about 4pm at Yingi area, along Rayfield Road, Jos.
