A teenager is finally getting medical help after living her entire life with two extra arms and fingers dangling from her chest. Veronica Cominguez, 14, was born with the limbs and an oblong-shaped torso growing from her chest in Iligan City, Philippines. The extra parts – belonging to a parasitic twin which did not develop properly – have continued to grow with her. She even cleans her living ”twin” and cuts their finger nails for them. But Veronica is now finally set to live a normal life after locals raised money and officials organised for her to fly to neighbouring Thailand for an operation. Veronica said: ”When I was little, I thought it was just a foot. But as I grew up, it became bigger ”It’s heavy, it limits my movement. It keeps swinging. My dress often gets wet.” Veronica’s mother, Flora Cominguez, said their family has a history of twins. She was not able to properly see a doctor during her pregnancy but said that she knew that it was twins. She even had a name for both of them Unfortunately, the other baby did not fully develop. Flora said that Veronica’s navel would always get wet because of the liquid that comes out of it. Sometimes, the discharge has blood on it. She added: ”The liquid that comes out of the opening smells bad, like human excretion.” According to Veronica’s doctor, the extra limbs can be removed through a simple operation. Dr. Beda Espineda, a pediatric surgeon at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center who also handles the medical case of Veronica, said: ”Most of these cases can be removed. Because, usually, the body structures involved are not vital. Most of them are just attached to the skin or bones. For surgeons, it is easy to remove.” Veronica is now waiting to have her ”twin” who has become a parasite, removed as soon as possible. The local government office in her village, which has her under its welfare care system, said she is due to fly to Thailand in the coming weeks for the procedure. A spokesman from the Barangay council of Kabacsanan said last Friday (27/07): ”It has been arranged for Veronica to have an operation. and we hope that she will live a normal, healthy life after this. ”Life has not been easy for her but she’s a very sensible, clever and mature girl. She’s a wonderful pupil. Everyone is very pleased for her that she can soon have an operation.” https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/world-news/719879/parasitic-twin-foetus-four-arms-fingers-rare-medical-condition-operation-philippines-news

Nollywood actress and producer, Ify Adibeli, has said “small girl big God” is another name for runs girls, as she also revealed that she doesn’t care if she is called a biaatch. On Monday she wrote on her Instagram page that she doesn’t care if she is called a biaatch. She wrote; “I don’t care if people call me a biaatch. It’s just another word for feminist and I say it with pride.” She further explained to Potpourri; “Nobody has really pissed me off. I’m just fed up with people who think nonsense of you just because your lifestyle has changed. They see every girl that is doing well in life and on Instagram as a runs girl. Just because of how classy you look, they tag you ‘small girl, big God’, which is what they call runs girls now. When they call you ‘small girl with big God’, they are actually calling you a runs girl. It makes me laugh each time I see that comment on people’s posts, she explained with a note of displeasure in her voice. “The word ‘biaatch’ means a whole lot of different things and it depends on who calls you that. My own definition of biaatch has different meanings. It is not the way others see it. Like I said on the post, to me, it is another word for ‘feminism’. I hate it when people call me ‘small girl, big God’. How can you ascribe such a dirty thing to God? It is not right. I’m working very hard for my money, they should allow me to enjoy it.” PLEASE READ MORE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/ify-adibeli-bursts-bubble-on-small.html

Senator Abdullahi Adamu has said that his colleagues who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have committed political blunders which will be the biggest mistakes of their lives. In an interview with Daily Trust, the lawmaker representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District said some of them have never really been in the PDP. He said: “Take it from me that our colleagues who are now members of the PDP have made the mistake of their lives; they have committed a political blunder. You can start counting the days of failure that confronts the PDP. “All along, the Tuesday you referred to was only watershed. Those of us who are following the political activities knew they have been plotting to go. But they were not honest enough with themselves let alone the party that they didn’t want to do so at the expense of the offices they hold. They wanted to defect and retain their positions, because they knew the position of the constitution clearly. They tried to stuck on some RAPC to justify, as far as they’re concerned, something they call division. But that failed woefully. “So, they found themselves that they couldn’t succeed in the notion of a broken APC. They now said they could go by themselves to make a declaration in the Senate that they’ve left the party for another party. “For us, there’s no surprise, because these same guys who are talking of defecting have in actual fact been part and parcel of PDP from the day the president inaugurated the 8th National Assembly. They were led by Saraki. They went into an illicit accord with the PDP, and from then till that Tuesday, they have operated on the agenda of the PDP. They only wore the tag of APC, but they were not for all intents and purposes. Asked what he would have done if Saraki had appeared at the APC meeting with President Buhari, Adamu said: “I would have sent him out. I would have told them that ‘you don’t belong here; you betrayed the president. You want to continue with the game of betrayal? Get out of this place.’ “There were speculations that some of you were planning to change the leadership of the Senate on that Tuesday, how true is that? “I don’t talk about things that don’t happen. If there was an action, manifest, you can ask questions about it. But when you speculate, I don’t go for speculations. We’re talking reality. People said they decamped from one party to another, that’s a reality. I was there when it happened, and I can talk about it like I’m doing now. But whether there was an intention to change the leadership, that is speculation. Meanwhile, House of Representatives members and a Kaduna senator, who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, July 24, have vowed never to return to the ruling party. Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Saturday said the defection of Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom and scores of federal legislators few days ago is the tip of the iceberg of the better days to come for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, across the country. He also said that by the recent development, PDP is the fastest growing political party in Africa. Ekweremadu, in a statement issued in Enugu, his home state, said, “What the nation witnessed in the last few days, being the defection of scores of federal lawmakers and the return of the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, to the PDP was “a tip of the iceberg”. He added, “Spirits have been high within the PDP family and Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, for sometime now, especially following the joining and rejoining of the PDP and the coalition by scores of National and State Assembly Members as well as the Governor of Benue State. “We are happy for this. But I have good news for you. Nigerians have only witnessed a tip of the iceberg. More are on their way because it is no longer about anybody’s individual political ambition. It is now a movement to rescue Nigeria. So, we are not only the biggest political party, we are also the fastest growing political party in Africa today. “I want to assure you that so many respected Nigerians have also keyed into this movement to rescue Nigeria because the world is now very worried for our nation. “So, in a matter of months, Nigerians will go to the polls to enthrone a new order of peace, unity, security, and respect for the rule of law.” Ekweremadu spoke after the inauguration of the Agwu Local Government chapter of the Gburugburu Movement, which champions the re-election of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. He also assured the Governor of Enugu State of the total support of the entire Enugu West Senatorial District, adding that not only would nobody from the district contest against the Governor, but the people of the zone would obtain the party’s nomination form for the Governor at the right time. “Not long ago, the entire Enugu West Senatorial District gathered here to endorse Governor Ugwuanyi for a second term. So, we can only say that we remain committed to that decision. He has done very well and deserves a second, straight term in office,” the Deputy Senate President affirmed. https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/DSC_2109.jpg Leader, All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in the House of Representatives has advised the party’s leadership to stay in constant touch with its members. Gbaja, as fondly called, blamed the communication gap between the party and members as a major factor that contributed to the defection of some lawmakers. He spoke on Thursday in Abuja when he led the party’s caucus at the House of Representatives to a meeting with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC). “It is time to consolidate and make sure we stay in touch with our members and keep them close and continue to appreciate them”, NAN quoted him as saying. The lawmaker specifically asked the party’s leadership to continue to fight for its members in the House of Representatives as some of them were first timers. “They should be taken into serious consideration and I think they deserve a second term. “Because if they don’t come back, we are going to lose the first six months to one year training the freshers. How does that help the party or the country?” He asked. He attributed the spate of defection of party members to lack of proper understanding of party ideology and called on the party leaders to develop and entrench its ideologies in members. “We have our party ideology but we must begin to develop that ideology to the point that it is entrenched in the hearts and minds of every progressive member of the party. “I believe it is the lack of the entrenchment of this ideology that allows people to cross from one party to another. “This is going to happen in four years time again if we don’t develop this ideology”, he said. Gbajabiamila added that while some of the party’s Senators and House of Representatives members defected to opposition parties, Mr Olamide Oni, a new member from Ekiti State joined its fold in the house. According to him, Oni defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to join the APC, which he believes will sell his interest better. https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/saraki-igp.jpg The Public Prosecution Office under the Ministry of Justice has declared that it cannot establish a link between Senate President Bukola Saraki and the suspects arrested over robbery in Offa, Kwara state. Several persons were in April killed and several others injured after suspected robbers attacked a popular commercial bank in Offa, Kwara State. The police had alleged that suspects had ‘direct link’ to Saraki and Abdulfatai Ahmed, governor of Kwara. Some of the suspects reportedly claimed that Saraki provided them with some of the exhibits used for the operation. Both men have denied all of the allegations brought against them. Mohammed U.E, Director, Public Prosecution of the Federation, wrote Idris Ibrahim, Inspector-General of Police, saying from evidence in the interim report on the matter, his office could not establish a nexus between Saraki, Ahmed, and the suspects. Mohammed, however, advised the police to carry out a further investigation as it concerns the Senator and the Governor. “For the senate president and the Kwara state governor, this office is unable to establish from the evidence in the interim report a nexus between the alleged offence and the suspects. Hence, it is in our advice that further and thorough investigation in this regard be carried out,” Mohammed said. “Areas to be covered include but not limited to the following; “i. Establish whether the planning and the execution of the robbery attack of the 5th April 2018 at Offa was carried out at their instance, knowledge or approval. “ii. Whether the weapons used for the robbery attack aforementioned were supplied by either the senate president, Bukola Saraki or the governor of Kwara state, Abdulfatai Ahmed. “iii. And any other area or areas that may assist in establishing a prima facie case of aiding and abetting crime, or accessory after the fact,” he added. https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/1.png https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/2.png https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/3.png https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/4.png https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/5.png PLEASE READ MORE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/offa-robbery-ministry-of-justice-writes.html |
Senate President Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday blocked an attempt by Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan to stop All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators from dumping the party. Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) and a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Senator Barnabas Gemade, led the defectors. Others are Senators Abdullahi Ibrahim Danbaba (Sokoto South), Shaaba Lafiagi (Kwara North), Ubali Shittu (Jigawa North-East), Rafiu Ibrahim (Kwara South), Suleiman Hunkuyi (Kaduna North), Isa Misau (Bauchi Central), Monsurat Sunmonu (Oyo Central). Senators Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano Central), Suleiman Nazif (Bauchi North), Olanrewaju Tejuosho (Ogun Central) Usman Nafada (Gombe North) and Abdulaziz Nyako (Adamawa Central) were also among. Their defection was contained in a letter Saraki read at plenary. It read: “Dear Senate President, after due consultation with our constituents and stakeholders in our constituencies, in proper recognition of Section 68(1G) of the 1999 Constitution as amended and with the fact that our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is hereby enmeshed in factions. “We hereby inform the Senate that we the undersigned are changing our political affiliation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “We thank you for your exemplary leadership.” In a swift reaction, Lawan raised an observation and was allowed to speak. The lawmaker insisted that the defection was unnecessary, noting that “The APC, our party, certainly has its own internal challenges. “But Mr. President, as a political party, we all know how much effort by so many stakeholders to address the issues that bedevil this party. “The disagreements do not translate into factionalisation. ‘I therefore feel that our senators of the APC stock do not have to move to any other party. “I also believe that because the issues are under serious discussions by major stakeholders of this party, I will urge that the announcement be quarantined and contained and address the issues. “Very seriously, this matter should be stepped down until we exhaust all the opportunities.” Overruling Lawan, Saraki replied: “As you know and have seen, the seat beside you is vacant. As we speak, the Deputy Senate President cannot get out of his house. “He is under siege. This morning, I could not also leave my street as well, all being efforts by some people that believe that today’s sitting must not hold because some members want to move or defect. “It is not something that started today; it will not end today; people have gone, they’ve come back. “This kind of action does not allow for what you are saying. You are speaking as the leader of the Senate, who has been here for many years.” Meanwhile, Lawan had stated that the APC still had majority seats in the Senate. He spoke to journalists after a close-door meeting with the APC National Working Committee (NWC) led by the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole at the Party’s National Secretariat on Tuesday evening. He said: “Even though we have lost some of our colleagues to the PDP and other parties, the APC still retains the position of No. 1 party with more seats. Presently we (APC) have 53 Senators, PDP has 49, African Democratic Congress (ADC) has 3, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has 2 and we have 2 vacancies. “We lost our colleagues in Kaduna and Bauchi State; those were APC seats, very safe seats indeed. In August bye-elections will be held and by the Grace of God, the APC will reclaim the seats and the majority of the APC will increase.” Lawan also provided a list where he read the names of the 52 senators he claimed to be in APC. They include; Adamu Aliero (Kebbi), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi), Bala Ibn Na’Allah (Kebbi), Aliyu Wammako (Sokoto), Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto), Ahmed Yerima (Zamfara), Kabir Marafa (Zamfara), Tijjani Kaura(Zamfara), Abu Ibrahim (Katsina), Umar Kurfi (Katsina), Kabir Gaya (Kano), Barau Jibrin (Kano), Abdullahi Gumel (Jigawa), Sabo Mohammed (Jigawa), Shehu Sani (Kaduna), Ahmed Lawan(Yobe), Bukar Abba Ibrahim (Yobe), Ali Ndume (Borno), Abu Kyari (Borno), Baba Kaka Garbai (Borno). https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Rauf-Aregbesola.jpg The Chief of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola has won the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election for the gubernatorial poll slated for September 22. Senator Ovie Omo-agege, who stood in for the Chairman of the Electoral panel, Governor Abudul’aziz Yari of Zamafa State, pronounced Oyetola the winner of the contest with total votes of 127,017. He beat his closest rival, Lassun Yussuf, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who got 21, 975, followed by the incumbent Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salam with a total votes of 19,958. Oyetola, in his acceptance speech, thanked party members for their supports, adding that the exercise was a litmus test for participatory democracy in Nigeria. He said the peaceful conduct of the primary election was an indication of new democratic paradigm in the state. “Osun demonstrated what was possible today by voting peacefully and exercising their democratic rights. The success of the direct primaries in Osun has placed our party, the APC on a path of democratic rejuvination and a rebirth of membership faith in the party. “So, let me begin by thanking all the card carrying members of the APC in the state of Osun who voted and contributed to making the exercise a success. How can I forget the excitement I saw on the faces of thousands who queued up with their cards to vote? “From Iwo to Ede, from Ede to Ejigbo, from Osogbo to ijebu jesha, from Ada to Iragbiji, the story is the same – proud APC members happy to exercise their rights. “I am humbled by the fact that I have emerged the winner of the contest. It was made possible by you the party members and your votes. “With deep humility and a sense of duty I accept your verdict that I should carry forward the torch of our party in the next elections. “I assure you that your choice will not be wasted. You have settled for a man steady in his ways, firm in his convictions about the purpose of government, which is to promote the welfare of the people, protect their rights and provide good governance. “Let me recognize all that came on this journey with me. They ran a keen contest and in the spirit of our party shunned violence. I salute them and stretch out my hands of fellowship and brotherhood to each and every co-contestant for this ticket. “The victory is for all of us and as we continue our party’s bid to win the election and keep on the good works of moving our State up the global development level, I invite all my co-contestants to join me in the task of winning the election of September 22 and running a people oriented government. “We have only won the battle. The war lies ahead of us. Our opponents from other parties increase their arsenal to fight with us. But we are ready. We are tested. Like the broom sweeping away the rot, we are set and ready. The 60 days plus ahead will not be easy but i am confident in our ability to protect what we have. “To our quintessential governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, how can I begin to extol and thank you? Working with you has been like constantly jugging, and through you, serving the people has had a different meaning. I can assure you that all you have laboured to achieve for the goodness and well being of the people will not be in vain. We shall work assiduously to ensure continuity and consolidation of your efforts. “I thank Gov. Abdul Azeez Yari who led the team from the APC headquarters to conduct the primaries. Under your watch, the people of Osun and our great party witnessed the opening of a new chapter and the needed flip for a rebound of participatory democracy. “Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, thank you for standing by the people of Osun. You have strengthened the ‘Omoluabi bond’ that we share.” PLEASE READ MORE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/osun-guber-aregbesolas-chief-of-staff.html |
Nigerians have reacted to former President, Olusegun Obasanjo’s latest criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari. Obasanjo on Wednesday said Buhari was confused and left Nigeria adrift. He said this during a summit organized by the Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF) in Abuja, where he was represented by a former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. Reacting, some Nigerians took to their Twitter pages condemning Obasanjo’s constant criticism of President Buhari. They described Obasanjo as also being confused and desperate. Here are the comments gathered by DAILY POST: @Oluwafe “With due respect to Baba Obasanjo. He seems to be confused himself. All the allegation he raised is merely based on sentiment. Nothing more.He keeps raising one issue after the other but Buhari has been getting stronger with each day passing.PDP ruled for 16yrs stealing/looting.” @PAcesetter “The worst thing that will happen to Nigerians is to allow Obasanjo to play a small god again in the Nigeria political sphere. INEC also admitted that politicians involved in the practice during Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election, “were clever,” about it. Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu the National Commissioner of INEC and Chair, Legal Services Committee, who spoke to journalists in Benin City on Wednesday, said that the commission was taking drastic measures on vote buying, in order to curb the trend during the next governorship election in Osun State. “INEC is taking issue of vote buying very seriously. I am just coming as part of the Supervising National Commissioner for Ekiti and these things occur,” Agbamuche-Mbu said. “We are having another conference on electoral offences. Vote buying is another electoral offence and we are looking at ways to curb it. Politicians keep trying their best. Politicians were clever in Ekiti. They have ingenious ways to sort themselves out. We will go back and review it and see how we can stop vote buying with the best of our ability.” “Security agencies were not involved in the two local governments I supervised. Security agencies did well in Ekiti. We have to continue to enlighten and educate our electorate. The Emir of Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State, Mallam Zubair Jibril, on Tuesday, painted a gloomy picture of insecurity in his emirate, saying bandits had completely ravaged the area. Jibril, who stated this at the Blueprint newspapers Impact Series/Award in Abuja, said the Boko Haram insurgency, banditry and ethnic clashes constituted threats to Nigeria and its neighbours. According to him, Nigeria needs to develop a strong mechanism of tolerance because of religious crises and ethnic clashes in some parts of the North. He stated, “Insecurity, especially the Boko Haram insurgency in North-East, ethnic clashes in the North–Central and banditry in the North-West, constitute the biggest threat to the country and its neighbours Jibril said in Birnin Gwari, bandits had made lives of the people hell because of attacks. He stated that Nigeria could only develop when youths engage in productive ventures and use their skills to produce goods. He stated, “Nigeria must evolve a strong mechanism of tolerance because our national development is indeed based on that. The unfortunate religious crises and ethnic clashes in some parts of Taraba, Benue and Plateau states could have been avoided, if we have evolved tolerance mechanism among us.” Lamenting insecurity in the country, the traditional ruler stated, “In Kaduna State, several local government areas are severely affected by bandits. Our story in the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State is that of agony and sympathy. “The bandits have made life hell for people in my area. The area has been completely ravaged by banditry, cattle rustling and abductions. PLEASE READ MORE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/insecurity-biggest-threat-to-nigeria.html

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Monday constituted a legal committee to look into all the legal issues surrounding the conduct of the Ekiti governorship election. This is part of its preparation to challenge the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Abuja. In his words, “PDP as a party has constituted a legal committee to look into all the legal angles to the issues surrounding the Ekiti governorship election with a view to institute appropriate legal actions. “We want to assure our members that we have nothing to fear with the circumstances that happened in Ekiti state, and to let them know that the we have taken a decision to go the length of all judicial processes in the electoral situation in the state. “The entire nation is standing with the PDP. We believe that Nigerians know the truth of what happened. Nigerians know that votes were bought in Ekiti state. Nigerians are aware that there was humiliation of our party members. We are aware that there was brutalization of our party members. “Nigerians are also aware that this government led by the ruling APC, having failed woefully has no capacity to stand for a true election anywhere in this nation. And that is why they have colluded with security agencies and INEC and even within their party, APC, to make sure that they rig us out of Ekiti. “But we have not seen the end of it. Like we said earlier on, this political banditry will not stand, at all. “We, therefore, ask our teeming members to remain resolute as there is nothing to panic about. It is just a temporary setback. But we assure our members that the political brigandage will never stand”. READ MORE HERE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/ekiti-election-pdp-sets-up-legal.html .

The Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has clarified that the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos will be shut down for only three days, starting from July 27. Fashola said this on Monday while addressing some confusion over the period for the closure of the bridge, on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily. According to the Minister, the bridge will only be closed for three days, contrary to reports that it will be closed for 27 months. “I think somebody mistook the date 27th of July for 27 months, I don’t know how that came about but there was a signed statement from my office and it didn’t contain 27 months,” Fashola said. The three-day closure, according to him, will enable the contractors assess the true state of the facility, after which repair works will commence by the end of the year or at the start of next year (2019). “The statement we put out was that it was going to be closed for three days, from the 27th of July. “We were torn between maintenance and safety and people’s convenience but essentially, the first three days at the end of this month as issued in our press statement, will be for investigative work to be conducted to assess the current condition. “There is a procurement for maintenance that has been approved but between that time and now, some things may have changed so we wanted to do an examination again just to be sure that there has been no material deterioration beyond what we procured. “After that, our engineers and contracting firms will then lay out the plan of works. “Some of the equipment and materials have to be imported, either later in the year or early next year, then we will be able to start the repair. “That will imminently compel some closure as we have had in the past when I was governor. We closed it for about 12 weeks but (this time) we will try to reduce the period of closure as much as possible,” he added. Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has said stronger leadership was critical for the economic development of the African continent. Obasanjo said this on Friday at the ongoing 2018 Afreximbank Annual Meeting in Abuja He said Africa had the human, mineral and capital resources, as well as strong institutions to become a “heaven on earth,” yet it wasn’t living up to its potential due to weak leadership He said, “We are not where we should be, but we have moved away from where we where. “It is obvious from what we have started to see with the signing of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). “The signing of the AfCFTA is historic and it shows that at last Africans are beginning to work together. “The talk of establishing the AfCFTA has been there since the African Union was established. Imagine how long it took for it to become a reality.” “I remember what happened in Kigali, a day before the signing, we were not sure if 20 countries will sign, so it was a surprise when 44 countries signed that day,” he said. Obasanjo urged African leaders to collaborate more and emulate countries that were doing well and also learn not to make the same mistakes that had already been made by others. He pointed out that the African population was rising at an astronomical rate, therefore it was imperative to ensure that the right policies were in place to improve the economy and create jobs. He cited the telecommunications sector in Nigeria as a success story of how Africans were the architect of their own future. The former President used the opportunity to encourage more women to go into politics. He urged women to vie for gubernatorial and senatorial seats in the coming elections in Nigeria. Senator Rowland Owie, erstwhile governorship candidate in Edo State and national leader of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, has called on well meaning Nigerians, including members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to join hands and vote President Muhammadu Buhari out in 2019. According to him, since the government came on board in 2015, Nigerians had become poorer under President Buhari. He quoted the International monitoring Fund, IMF, as saying that more poverty has been recorded by Nigerians under this administration. He added that Transparency International said Nigeria had become more corrupt under the APC government. Owie in an interview with Daily Sun, said that as a matter of fact, Nigeria under APC was sliding towards banana republic. He added that “Nigeria is sliding into total darkness in the hands of President Muhammadu Buhari. I urge all men of goodwill in all political parties in Nigeria, including the APC to unite and send PMB packing before he destroys this nation. “How can a President of Nigeria look the other way in the face all these killings? APC came in through propaganda by deceiving those Nigerians that care to listen to them. “Three years of APC government has brought nothing but chains, pains, sorrow, hunger and division to the land. Three years of President Buhari’s administration took the rule of law to the cleaners. “Nigeria constitution is no longer obeyed. APC government made people feel that they are above the laws of the land. APC government has not added anything to the economic growth of the country.” READ MORE>>>http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/2019-presidency-why-apc-members-should.html . .

President Muhammadu Buhari has advised Ekiti voters to embrace the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Kayode Fayemi in the Saturday’s election. He said that they should not allow themselves to be so demeaned by the concept of stomach infrastructure. Buhari also dispelled the insinuation by detractors that he had been protecting the killer herdsmen owing to his ethnic affinity with the Fulani, saying he had not failed in his responsibility to provide security for every Nigerian, regardless of race and religion. This was as the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Chairman of the party, Com. Adams Oshimhole, urged Ekiti electorate to vote Fayemi to bail the state out of poverty being experienced under Governor Ayodele Fayose’s government. Dignitaries at the event included: Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Bindow Jbrilla, (Adamawa), Kashim Shetima (Borno), Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Edo Deputy Governor, Hon. Philip Shuaib, Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Yahaya Bello(Kogi). Others were: Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Ministers of Labour, Chief Chris Ngige, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs, Abike Dabiri, former Governors Niyi Adebayo, Segun Osoba, Segun Oni, Chief Bisi Akande, among others. Buhari, while speaking at the mega rally organized to drum support for Fayemi ahead of Saturday said he had initiated 13 federal road intervention projects in Ekiti State since assumption of office, contrary to rumour that he had abandoned the state. The event was held at the popular Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekit capital city. The President said despite that Ekiti belonged to the opposition party, his government had not denied Ekiti of any federal benefit since he mounted the saddle of governance. He added that his government had been working assiduously to stop the rampaging herdsmen and that nothing will be spared to achieve the onerous task of uniting Nigeria and make the citizens enjoy safety. He said: “I want you to align Ekiti with the change agenda of our government. Since I came on board, I have initiated 13 federal road projects in Ekiti. We have completed the failed portions of the ifaki-Ikole –Omuo road, Ifaki-Ido road, Efon-Iwaraja road, while Ado-Ifaki road has been re-awarded. “The APC government had also awarded the construction of a federal Secretariat in Ekiti State. We have also extended the National Housing Scheme to Ekiti for the state not to be neglected in the scheme of things. “Under my government, Ekiti has enjoyed unprecedented federal appointments while people have also benefited from N-Power and intervention funds like bailouts funds despite belonging to opposition. “So, don’t allow yourselves to be insulted by stomach infrastructure, vote APC on Saturday so that you can grow your own better infrastructures. “Ekiti people must do the right thing by voting rightly, so that you can reclaim your land and restore you values. “I hereby present to you Dr. Fayemi , a former Minister of Mines and Steel Development. As A Minister, Dr. Fayemi recorded a lot of laudable achievements . So, don’t waste your , vote APC, vote Fayemi”, Buhari stated. On the killings across the country, which have been traced to herdsmen, Buhari said: “Some are displaying mischievous attitudes by linking me to killer herdsmen just because I am a Fulani man.” This is a cheap blackmail that was far from the truth”, he said. Also speaking, the National leader of the party, Tinubu said the massive looting of the treasury brought about the recession that hit the economy under Buhari. He urged the people not to be intimidated by the PDP, saying they should come out on the day of election and vote for APC. Tinubu said, “A vote for Fayemi, is a vote for development and the future of Ekiti. He served as a Minister and President didn’t remove him. He was not sacked, but he only came to Ekiti to help you. “On Saturday, you are protected. Don’t be intimidated by anybody, this is not like 2014. This time, it is going to be one man, one vote, because Governor Fayose has been making noise that the election has been rigged. APC is a decent party, it won’t rig election they way they did”. The National Chairman of the party, Oshiomhole accused Fayose of embezzling the N20 billion bailout funds given to the State by President Buhari to pay workers. He said Fayemi did excellently well as a governor of Ekiti State by bringing finesse to governance, saying time has come for him to reap the fruits of his labour. The former Edo State Governor added that it was disheartening for governor Fayose to have allegedly pauperized the people, urging the electorate to appropriate their votes wisely for them to get rid of an irresponsible government. “Fayemi has promised that he will pay the arrears of salaries if elected. He won’t sack anybody, because he is different from Fayose who got N20 billion bailout and pocketed it, rather than paying salaries. “Fayose, today has offended everybody, He has abused everybody. “He even gave unlawful orders that shops should be closed down today just to show his hatred for President Buhari. He even manipulated the leaders of commercial drivers not to go to work today just to create obstacles. “But I want to commend you for defying all these obstacles. Let me also say that any worker or Vice Chancellor or Provost that was victimized by Fayose will be promoted by Fayemi”, he assured. He said the PDP haf entered into merger deal with other ‘mushroom’ parties to unseat Buhari, saying their gang up against the present government shall go to nullity, describing APC as a performing and solid party. Speaking in turns, Governors Bagudu, Aregbesola , Amosun, Yari, Ajimobi, Bello and Akeredolu, urged the people to vote APC and join the progressive fold to escape the vicious circle level of poverty. Fayemi, in his brief comment said candidates of 15 political parties had endorsed him for the Saturday’s contest based on his track records. “Saturday’s election will be credible, it will be fair, transparent and credible . Nobody will rig because we are contesting based on our track records, which the people said were excellent. “My concerned in this election is to chase away looters and those pauperizing our people . President Buhari has instructed me to go back and bring transformation back to Ekiti and the task shall be achieved,” he said. The Senator representing Ekiti Central, Mrs Fatima Raji Rasaki, a serving member of the House of Representatives, Hon Olamide Oni and other PDP bigwigs also joined the ruling APC. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/ekiti-guber-dont-allow-yourselves-to-be.html

A former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has described the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, R-APC and 38 other political parties as “an assignment from God.” The main objective of the agreement signed by the parties on Monday is to defeat President Muammadu Buhari in 2019. Oyinlola, who spoke on behalf of the ADC at the meeting, said the agreement was the only solution to rescue the country, warning that if it failed, then the country and the citizens would regret it. He further urged the parties to be committed to the letter and spirit of the MoU. “We are committed to the restructuring of this nation and we must respect the spirit and letter of this understanding. “When Nigerians voted in 2015, they thought the APC vehicle would take them to the Promised Land. But three years after, the APC has failed and failed tragically too. We must not fail to rescue the nation and if we do, then the nation is finished,” he said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/07/what-will-happen-if-pdp-alliance-with-r.html
