yemi2plus2: @Acid... I remembered you created a thread somethine ago, saying you wanted to contest for the post of chairman.
What Local Government Area?

I'd have loved to run the race in my local government, but sir, this rot is far beyond the ability of a single entity. It is a plague spreading around the state.
The entire state needs a total and complete reformation..

*****************************
Some people are against my words about the people of Igala.
But the truth is so clear and most of them know the truth.

I've other threads here on nairaland where some of them agreed to this fact and even condemned their ethnic leaders..

Someone said the past governors paid WAEC & NECO fees for 10years.. The question is, who send them??
This is not charity, its only a clear evidence on the level of poverty in the state. What is the hope of the students when parents can not afford WAEC fees?

Why pay the fee of students were majority hardly make 3 credits??

Rather than deal with the rot from the grassroot, deal with unqualified teachers, the thousand upon thousand ghost workers, My governors were busy paying waec fees cos there lies an avenue to siphon some cash..

The rot have spread across the state, even in my home town, the rot and corruption is everywhere..
Some teachers now combine farming with teaching...

What can a mathematics teacher teach after spending the early hours of the day in the farm?

I'm not against any tribe ruling the state, but why the repeated failures from the same tribe?

During the last election, the other man that contested with Gov Wada, Mr. Echocho (an Igala man, PDP) was also a complete failure. Infact, his case is worse, he was a cast away, a by-product of corruption. This man ran way from AfriBank Plc (MD) , after siphoning several dozens of millions only for him to come back to the state looking for a gubernatorial slot..

Why can't these guys learn something from Delta state?

Delta State University for instance, has 4 campuses in the 4 geo region of the state

One in Abraka, Oleh & Asaba, Oghara..
This is fair politics.

But, over here, its all in Igala land. Even the proposed College of Medicine is to be sited in their land..
This is a state that once boast of a standard world known hospital in Egbe (a very good location for a college of medicine)..
But what can we do? Egbe is not Igala.

Kogi State University and all it faculties, (Igala)
Kogi State Polytechnic (Igala)
Kogi State College of Health Technology (Igala)
Kogi State College of Education (Igala)

This is how they run the state..
When the Federal Govt propose to site a Federal Uni in Kogi,
It was another war! They wanted this on their land...
But after several debate and fights, it was sited on a neutral ground - Lokoja.

gosh...!
The list is endless...

Is it about the laptops the TSC distributed to teachers recently??

Laptop was shipped in from lagos at N60,000/ one.. but sold to teachers at an embarrassing sum of N115,000!

There is no rumour or lie in this.
I can defend all my words with series of evidence...

The state is about to die..

Op just pointed out a failed project and all of a sudden, we jumped into conclusion that the entire state is a failure. Can we see how we reason in Nigeria? Why don't we ask the op to come up with more proofs of failed projects b4 we come to a conclusion. I hate to read theories/conclusions from arm-chair researchers. Show me a state in Nigeria, and I will show you plethora of failed projects littering everywhere.

In as much as I am not happy with the level of development in Kogi state, I have my reservations as to how this op went about painting the picture with ethnic chauvinism dominating the major part of the his writeup. My own conclusion from the writeup is that the op has been having chocking hatred for the Igalas. And the only way he thought he could vent his anger was to capitalise on this particular failed project which is just a project out of so many projects in just a sector of the many sectors of Kogi state's economy. He went ahead to extol the virtues of his people above the igalas and finally landed awkwardly by suggesting the creation of okun state or be taken back to kwara state!!! What a suggestion!!! It is quite hilarious that somebody is suggesting that kwara is a better option to kogi.

Let me educate the op that the only difference between kogi state and kwara state in terms of development, generally, is just the age. My candid advise to the op is that if he really wants to champion a cause, he just have to go about the cause devoid of ethnic, religious or sectional bigotry. This problem is exactly the bane of our politicians today. They may have fantastic policies for the polity, but they just cannot go about implementing those policies without mixing it with tribe, religion and the rest. Same thing with this op. He can never make any meaningful contribution to the development of Kogi state or elsewhere if given the opportunity with this mindset.

With pains in my heart, I present to you brothers & sisters, the pictures of Kogi State Trade Fair centre, Lokoja. sad sad

After about 15years leadership of this state by a single tribe (out of 3 major tribes), this is one of the better projects they've delivered so far..

The list of our governors:

Alhaji Abubakar Audu - Igala, 4years (PDP)
Alhaji Ibrahim Idris - Igala, 8years, (PDP)
Capt. Idris Wada - Igala, 3+ years (PDP)

I wish I have the strength sad to start repeating the disgusting acts and attitudes of these crooks...

Mr President, please you have to listen to our people, the good people of Okun land.
We do not relate with these men General Babangida forcefully merge us with in 1991.
Move this part of the map (Okun land) back to Kwara or give us a new state!

If this state remains under their leadership, the Kogi of 50years to come would be worse than the Kogi of yesterday #fact.

They despise development more than the devil himself..

Pls Mr President, We are tired, as in We don tire...!
kai... sad sad

I am a Kogite from Isanlu, Yagba East LGA, the problem we have in Kogi State is not the responsibility of a particular tribe,it is due to poor leadership from the state to the local government level.what our leaders know how to do best is to share the federal allocation and divert same to their personal accounts. This is not the time to blame the igalas, it is the time to vote corrupt and visionless leaders out of office starting from your ward to the National level.

omatss: Am an igala man and I know and understand wwhat development is all about. Kogi state is far from any development. The first government lead by prince abubakar started something good but the government of ibrahim idris took us backward and with all their fetish activity no one can call him to question him what happen to the all allocation received during his tenure. Am not a politician but until another party take over from the PDP things will not improve. Secondly, until we stop the politics of money and ballot snatching we will continue to be behind. KOGI is a total BACKWORD state express by an igala. From kogi state. It is a pity.

God bless you, Sir.

I wish my the other posters can overlook the tribal differences, and lets face the fact..
******************************

This plague is also beyond PDP..

The same Audu that spent 4 years under the auspices of PDP fled the party and ported to ACN to battle with Wada in the last election..

Anyone can change party at any time...

What I think we need is a man with Vision..

Do not give us fish & waec fees..

Show us the river so we can catch the fish ourselves..
Create the jobs so we can work, get paid, pay our taxes to the government and pay our waec fee ourself..

It's really very disheartening that the state has been from bad to worse in recent yrs...
But your idea of ceasing that opportunity to insult the Igala people and as well spew hatred towards them has killed my zeal and enthusiasm to support you on this.
You talk as if Igalas does not kick against em too... If you must know, corruption is ubiquitous everywhere in Nigeria, Kogi as a state isn't an exception.
For the record, these men have done other good things for the state even when those things weren't/are consistent.
It baffles me how you think that Okun as a people are better than the Igalas, that's a shabby act of reasoning.
You act as if the Igalas are plagues whom you don't even want to co-habbit with... I wonder why you think you are better than them. Such a huge shame.
Way back in my university days, I had friends from your tribe whom are good people and are humble, sometimes, they follow me to my home for weekends... I teach some of them on some courses and I didn't even look down on any of them.
These governors paid all SSCE fees for more than 10yrs, they have built houses under the housing units in the state, they have been instrumental to relative peace in the state.
Once more, if they are as selfish as you portray em, then, why would Ibrahim change the name of the state university to KSU?
Lokoja water works, double lane township roads in all LG of the state.
It's so funny how you won't talk about your house of assembly representatives and your local govt chairmen and councillors on how they have failed too...
Why are you painting us black? What do you gain from doing that? Why do you think you people are better than us? Why do you act as if my people are plagues? Why are you generalizing things about us?
gbam, u hav landed, na tru he talk o, let him say it, am also frm kogi bt okene local govt, u said u also condemn dem or wat? yet if anoda igala enta dere again, u guz wil b xtremly happy, make orda tribes try dere own abilty, make we c, abeg, we don tire, n dat double lane u talk abt no dey my own side mayb 4 igala sha, to go my hometown dey do me sumhw. The treatment of a few mothers and children. How many surgeries where undertaking, maybe I should show you pictures of what my town men are doing to help sick people to in my village. Where is the water flowing from is it the river niger or the boreholes that people build in their houses Modern market you say, how many shops are open there, or is it the hausa selling modern tomato there.. This is highly depressing, sentiments and tribalism apart, kogi isn't moving at the pace it should be. I was once proud of my state for its vast resources but now no more. Things have really deteriorated in my once beloved state. PDP should be blamed for this and not the Igala, look at the case study of Osun and you would see how things relate. Even if a yoruba PDP should be voted in it would be worst of. Power really must change hand.

Infact, the number of human resources in the state is too much in the hands of a non-responsive government..

Just visit Kogi state, and see Baristers without jobs. Some graduates had to return home to continue doing what they did (Okada) to sponsor themselves at school (majorly, Ilorin, KSU, ABU, Abuja, EKSU, Minna)
