It's obvious you are not aware that a gun owner is legally responsible for his gun at all times. In fact in many states in the US you cannot even drive around with your gun and bullets in the same place. Your gun chamber must be clear. Your gun can be in the glove compartment but whatever goes in them better not be inside the car. Even conceal and carry states have very strict laws. Leaving a loaded gun out and not in a locked safe is no different from driving drunk and killing someone. He might not have shot the child but he set things in motion for it to happen. He broke the law. It is s huge responsibility being a gun owner.
