"The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God." (Deuteronomy 22:5).
This verse of the Bible is the veese of the Bible that people are ignorant of. Pastors themselves don't preach it so that their female member won't leave the Church then they will lose. Pastors are not even interesting, they don't care about the soul GOD handed over them,only what they know is their pocket! The decieve their members with vain and false doctrines just for their gain and interest. ''it is our culture, it is our tradition'' says one without knowledge. They give scotland as an example. Scotland and the Bible which one existed first? "And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. " (Mark 7:9). They do reject GODs commandment to keep their own tradition. Please, it you are a male wearing skirt or a female wearing trousers. Stop it, you are rejecting the word of GOD and the devil is using ignorantly for seduction! That it is worn by internation or popular female preachers doesn't mean that it is approved by GOD. Be warned, false preachers is greater than the true preacher! Repent of this and be saved!

Your point is baseless. Have you conducted a research and found out exactly what type of clothing the men and women in Moses' time wore? Were the men putting on trousers and the women putting on skirts? Then alone will you be able to say that trousers are for men and not women because i'm sure this your post is basically meant for women since most if not all men don't wear skirts.

I want you to understand that the bible is not a story book that you read as you go. You also must look at the audience and the ambience when it was written. That was the time when spiritiality ideas was really strong and firm.

The text saying man should not wear that which pertaineth to a woman means a man should not wear a dress already worn by a woman and vice versa. The belief then, which still stand is that not only do we breath but our body itself does it and a woman that wears a cloth might have done that during her time of impurity and it is counted as an abominiation for a man to wear such...

So it is not the material that is meant... A lady can take up a cloth and sew trousers and likewise an ijaw man can take up the material to sew wrapper... all join... But not that you take your mother's old wrapper as your bedsheet or whatever...

what U wear really matters! I don't like debate! I didn't gave that command. GOd who gave that commandment knows that He created man and woman with different shape, we ourselves knows too. What I knw is that the shape of a man and that of a woman is not the same! They must have have a separate cloth! Trousers are sown with the shape of men and skirt with the shape of women! That bible verse is about the only one in the bible talking about this(I hope Im right?) and where exactly does it mention trousers or skirt? That was how one RCCG pastor was busy hammering on this thing and even treatning to chase away from church any lady that wears trousers to church. Then I asked will this pastor also chase away a Kenyan(Madingo man) man in his traditional wear entering his church?

Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,

Even if the first quote was meant for Aron's boys, put emphasis on the second one saying in respectable apparel... and mind you... these are advices and not RULES. So as to be able to do what? So as to be able to put yourself under self-control... so as to not to be under the rule of the flesh.

Many people also tend to forget that in Biblical times clothes were not as easy to come by as they are now, and were often considered a precious possession. Many people had only a few clothes, possibly even only one set, and it was important that they be protected from damage. So, it wasn’t unusual at all to see gardeners, carpenters, fishermen, farmers or the like working naked so that they could protect their clothing. It was considered completely normal, and nobody even took much notice. People didn’t just walk around naked indiscriminately, but workers were often naked in public. The very poor were also often completely naked, not having the resources to provide for even their most basic needs. Granted, it was possible that those very poor people were looked down on because of their unclothedness, but that was because their unclothedness showed just how poor they were. Riches and prosperity were considered indicators of righteousness back then, so the poor were automatically labeled as unrighteous.

Remember God also spoke to Samson's parents not to cut his hair... So God telling those women in vision and dreams does not mean that that is what He intends for everybody. Paul said the gospel is for all... wise and unwise... black and white and you want to tell me that lady Pastors in USA and UK do not wear trousers?

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, the Bible says. Please read an excerpt from my book - The Woman Question. “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man neither shall a man put on a woman's garment, for all that do so are an abomination unto the Lord thy God” (Deut. 22:5).

Perhaps this is the strongest and seemingly scriptural proof forbidding women from men's wears. This claim however that this scripture forbids women from putting on trouser is weakened by the following arguments.

1. Trousers Are Not Necessarily Men's Wear.

Men did not put on trousers in the Bible days. Both men and women wore flowing gowns and skirts in the Bible days. Trouser wear is man's innovation. Just as men's garments were sewn differently from women's garments, so also are men's trousers sewn differently from women's trousers. A man for instance can't put on a trouser designed for a woman. So, men have their kind of trousers and women theirs too. Trying to say trousers are limited to men is as good as saying that wrappers are restricted to women. But we do know that men also tie wrappers in this part of the world but not the same way as the women tie theirs. The fact that wrappers are mostly common with the women and trousers mostly common with the men doesn't make these styles restrictive to either sex. Moreover, traditionally, trouser wears are not even men's wear in this part of the world. None of our fore fathers wore trousers until the white men came to colonize them.

2. Deuteronomy 22:5 Is Not For The New Testament Saints.

This verse which is one of the laws of Moses was addressed only to the Jews under the Old Covenant. Before Jesus came, you were either a Jew or a Gentile (without God). Under the Old Covenant, the Gentiles weren't included.

“That at that time ye (Gentiles) were without Christ being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenant of promise, having no hope and without God in the world” (Eph. 2:12).
So, Deut. 22:5 has nothing to do with the New Testament Saints.

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them (Jews) who were under the law…” (Rom. 3:19)

Exodus 34:27 further confirms this truth. “And the Lord said unto Moses, write down these words for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.” No mention was made of the Gentile nations here. Using Deut. 22:5 to judge the Christian women is like asking Nigerians to keep American laws and make us feel guilty for not keeping it. (Additional ref: Rom. 2:14, 3:2, 9:4).

3. God's Covenant Was Never Intended To Be Established By the Law of Moses

“For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise of none effect”. “And this I say that the covenant (Abrahamic covenant), that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law (law of Moses) which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise, but God gave it to Abraham by promise” (Rom. 4:13-14, Gal. 3:17-18).


The scripture above says that God's promise to Abraham was unconditional. Dos and don'ts (law) were not attached to it. Abraham was declared righteous not because he obeyed any codes of conduct but because he believed God (Rom.4:3, Gal. 3:6). For instance, if you were promised an amount of money by your uncle, and when you get to him to receive the promise, he now demands you must do this or that before he gives you the money, he has invariably nullified his promise. What you get then is no longer a favour but what you worked for. In the same way if God demanded that obeying the laws of Moses was a necessary prerequisite to be blessed, then He lied to Abraham. This is what Paul the Apostle stressed in the scripture just quoted above. How many of us will love to have an earthly father who spells out some dos and don'ts for us without which we cannot receive anything from him? Our God is a loving God and not a Soldier. We gain approval before Him not because we're trying to keep a particular law but because we believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead (Rom. 4:24). Besides, 1 Tim. 1:9 remarks that, “…..the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient………” It therefore means that we that have been declared righteous don't need the laws of Moses to live by.

4. Even The Jews That Were Given The Law Are No Longer Under Obligation To Keep It. They Have Been Delivered From The Law.
The Jews that were given the law are no longer under obligation to keep it because Christ has redeemed them from the law;

[b]“Christ HATH REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW being made a curse for us (Jews), for it is written, cursed is every man that hangeth on a tree. That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise OF THE SPIRIT THROUGH FAITH HAVING ABOLISHED in His flesh the enmity EVEN THE LAW OF COMMANDMENT contained in ordinances for to make in Himself of twain, one new man, so making peace. BLOTTING OUT THE HANDWRITING OF ORDINANCES (LAW) that was against us which was contrary to us nailing it to the cross. FOR CHRIST IS THE END OF THE LAW for righteousness to everyone that believeth. FOR THE LAW WAS GIVEN BY MOSES, BUT GRACE AND TRUTH CAME BY JESUS CHRIST. BUT NOW WE (JEWS) ARE DELIVERED FROM THE LAW that being dead wherein we were held, that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter (law). Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free and BE NOT ENTANGLED AGAIN WITH THE YOKE OF BONDAGE (LAW). For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye (the New Creation) are NOT UNDER THE LAW but under grace” For there is verily A DISANNULLING (CANCELLATION) OF THE COMMANDMENT going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. And for this cause, he is the mediator of a New Testament that by means of death, for the REDEMPTION OF THE TRANSGRESSORS THAT WERE UNDER THE FIRST TESTAMENT, they which are called might receive the promise of an eternal inheritance. Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. HE TAKETH AWAY THE FIRST (LAW OF MOSES) that he may establish the second. For the priesthood being changed, there is made a necessity a change also of the law” (Gal. 3:13-14, Eph. 2:15, Rom.10:4, John 1:17, Rom. 7:6, Gal. 5:1, Rom. 6:14, Heb. 7:18, 9:15, 10:9, 7:12).[/b]

These references testifying to the end of the Law of Moses (including Deut. 22:5) are too numerous to be ignored.
In spite of these clouds of witnesses, some Christians will still want to insist that Deut. 22:5 must be obeyed by Christian Women. This was also the case in the times of the early Apostles. They insisted that the Gentiles and likewise the Jews must keep the law of circumcision that Moses commanded. Paul the Apostle was vehemently persecuted for teaching otherwise. Even today, so many religious leaders are doing the same persecuting brethren and churches teaching that the New Testament Saints do not live by the laws of Moses as the scripture emphatically teaches. If the Jews that were under the law have been delivered from it, why then are we (formerly called Gentiles) trying to bear the burden the Jews could not bear?
Paul says he's afraid of those who are still trying to keep the Law of Moses. “Ye observe days, and months and times and years. I am afraid of you lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain” (Gal. 4:10-11).

WHY THEN WAS THE LAW GIVEN?

“….It was added because of transgression, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made, and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator…Before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterward be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ that we might be justified by faith” (Gal. 3:19-24).
The Law of Moses was only to last until Christ come to fulfill the promise God made to Abraham. “But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a school master” (Gal. 3:25). The Old Testament was imposed on the Jews until the time of reformation (Heb. 9:10).

REASONS WHY THE LAW WAS ABOLISHED

1. The Law Brought a Curse on the Jews

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse (spelt out in Deut. 28:15-68), for it is written cursed be every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of in the book of the law to do them” (Gal. 3:10).
Under the Law of Moses, the Jews got blessed by keeping the law (Deut. 28:1-14) and got cursed for breaking the law (Deut. 28:15-68). History reveals that they couldn't keep the laws and consequently came under the curse. Their inability to keep the laws was because of their carnal nature (Rom. 7:14). It takes a spiritual man to keep a spiritual law.

2. The Law Brought Wrath on the Jews


“Because the law worketh wrath, for where no law is, there is no transgression” (Rom. 4:15). A typical example of this is recorded in Num. 11:1, where the fire of the Lord was kindled against the Jews when they murmured and complained against Moses. Many of the Jews died. In another instance recorded in Num. 21:5-6, fiery serpents were sent to bite the people when they spoke against God and Moses. In contrast, they were not punished when they committed similar offence under Abrahamic covenant. (Ex. 16:2 & 17:3). There was no mercy under the Law of Moses the soul that sinneth, it shall die (Heb. 10:28). Stubbornness under the law also attracted death penalty (Deut. 21:18-21). Also if a lady was disvirgined before marriage and the husband found out, she was stoned to death (Deut. 22:13-21). A young man who gathered sticks on the Sabbath day was not exempted from death penalty (Num. 15:32-36). “He that despised Moses law died without mercy under two or three witnesses” (Heb. 10:28). “And the commandment which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death” (Rom. 7:14).

3. The Law Made Nothing Perfect.

“For the law made nothing perfect but the bringing in of a better hope did by which we draw nigh unto God” (Heb. 7:19).
So, Deut. 22:5 made nothing perfect for the Jews and it won't do any better for you.


4. The Law Made No One Perfect.


“For the law having a shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the things can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect (as pertaining to the conscience)” (Heb. 10:1).

See also Heb. 9:9. What Paul is saying here is that the Old Covenant sacrifices couldn't remove the guilt of sin. Only faith in the blood of Jesus will remove the guilt of sin.

“For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God purge your conscience from dead works (all practices in the Old Testament including Deut. 22:5) to serve the living God. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins” (Heb. 9:13-14, 10:4).

5. The Law Could Not Give Life.

“Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid, for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness would have been by the law. For what the law could not do (produce life), in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh. And the commandment which was ordained to life I found to be unto death. For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof” (Gal. 3:21, Rom. 8:3, 7:10, Heb. 7:18).

6. The Law Came To Amplify Sin

“What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay I had not known sin but by the law. For I had not known lust except the law had said THOU SHALL NOT COVET. But sin taking occasion by the commandment wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law, sin was dead” (Rom. 7:7)

7. The Law Could Not Give The Jews Ability To Live Above Sin.


“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh. God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh. For that which I do I allow not, for what I would, that do I not but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 8. Under the Law, the Jews Could Not Have Personal Fellowship with God or Approach Him.

“And the LORD said unto Moses. Go down; charge the people lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze and many of them perish. And let the priest also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them. And Moses said unto the LORD, the people cannot come up to Mount Sinai…..” But into the second (most holy place) went the high priest ALONE once every year…” (Ex.19:21-23, Heb. 9:7).

“And they said unto Moses, speak thou with us, and we will hear, but let not God speak with us lest we die. And the people stood AFAR OFF and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was” (Ex. 20: 19, 21).

9. If You Break One Law, You Have Broken All the Laws

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” (James2:10).

There're over 600 laws the Jews had to obey. Deut. 22:5 is just one of them. For instance, verse 9 of the same chapter says the Jews shouldn't' plant two different kind of crops on the same farm land. Also, verse 11 says they shouldn't' put on garment of mixed fabrics. How many of those trying to obey Deut. 22:5 keep these other laws? If the New Testament Saints were to live by the Law of Moses, virtually everyone would have been guilty of breaking the law. None of us for instance keeps the law of Sabbath. Even most of those who worship on Sabbath days do not necessarily keep it. No form of work was to be done on it. Not even cooking or clean-ups.

10. The Presence of the Law Brought Condemnation to the Gentiles[b][/b]

The presence of the law implied condemnation for the Gentiles because they were excluded from the covenant. The law stood as a wall separating the Jews from the Gentiles. It also led to hostility between both races therefore creating enmity. (Eph. 2:11-16).

“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man neither shall a man put on a woman's garment, for all that do so are an abomination unto the Lord thy God” (Deut. 22:5).

Perhaps this is the strongest and seemingly scriptural proof forbidding women from men's wears. This claim however that this scripture forbids women from putting on trouser is weakened by the following arguments.

1. Trousers Are Not Necessarily Men's Wear.

Men did not put on trousers in the Bible days. Both men and women wore flowing gowns and skirts in the Bible days. Trouser wear is man's innovation. Just as men's garments were sewn differently from women's garments, so also are men's trousers sewn differently from women's trousers. A man for instance can't put on a trouser designed for a woman. So, men have their kind of trousers and women theirs too. Trying to say trousers are limited to men is as good as saying that wrappers are restricted to women. But we do know that men also tie wrappers in this part of the world but not the same way as the women tie theirs. The fact that wrappers are mostly common with the women and trousers mostly common with the men doesn't make these styles restrictive to either sex. Moreover, traditionally, trouser wears are not even men's wear in this part of the world. None of our fore fathers wore trousers until the white men came to colonize them.

2. Deuteronomy 22:5 Is Not For The New Testament Saints.

This verse which is one of the laws of Moses was addressed only to the Jews under the Old Covenant. Before Jesus came, you were either a Jew or a Gentile (without God). Under the Old Covenant, the Gentiles weren't included.

“That at that time ye (Gentiles) were without Christ being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenant of promise, having no hope and without God in the world” (Eph. 2:12).
So, Deut. 22:5 has nothing to do with the New Testament Saints.

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them (Jews) who were under the law…” (Rom. 3:19)

Exodus 34:27 further confirms this truth. “And the Lord said unto Moses, write down these words for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.” No mention was made of the Gentile nations here. Using Deut. 22:5 to judge the Christian women is like asking Nigerians to keep American laws and make us feel guilty for not keeping it. (Additional ref: Rom. 2:14, 3:2, 9:4).

3. God's Covenant Was Never Intended To Be Established By the Law of Moses

“For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise of none effect”. “And this I say that the covenant (Abrahamic covenant), that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law (law of Moses) which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise, but God gave it to Abraham by promise” (Rom. 4:13-14, Gal. 3:17-18).


The scripture above says that God's promise to Abraham was unconditional. Dos and don'ts (law) were not attached to it. Abraham was declared righteous not because he obeyed any codes of conduct but because he believed God (Rom.4:3, Gal. 3:6). For instance, if you were promised an amount of money by your uncle, and when you get to him to receive the promise, he now demands you must do this or that before he gives you the money, he has invariably nullified his promise. What you get then is no longer a favour but what you worked for. In the same way if God demanded that obeying the laws of Moses was a necessary prerequisite to be blessed, then He lied to Abraham. This is what Paul the Apostle stressed in the scripture just quoted above. How many of us will love to have an earthly father who spells out some dos and don'ts for us without which we cannot receive anything from him? Our God is a loving God and not a Soldier. We gain approval before Him not because we're trying to keep a particular law but because we believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead (Rom. 4:24). Besides, 1 Tim. 1:9 remarks that, “…..the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient………” It therefore means that we that have been declared righteous don't need the laws of Moses to live by.

4. Even The Jews That Were Given The Law Are No Longer Under Obligation To Keep It. They Have Been Delivered From The Law.
The Jews that were given the law are no longer under obligation to keep it because Christ has redeemed them from the law;

[b]“Christ HATH REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW being made a curse for us (Jews), for it is written, cursed is every man that hangeth on a tree. That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise OF THE SPIRIT THROUGH FAITH HAVING ABOLISHED in His flesh the enmity EVEN THE LAW OF COMMANDMENT contained in ordinances for to make in Himself of twain, one new man, so making peace. BLOTTING OUT THE HANDWRITING OF ORDINANCES (LAW) that was against us which was contrary to us nailing it to the cross. FOR CHRIST IS THE END OF THE LAW for righteousness to everyone that believeth. These references testifying to the end of the Law of Moses (including Deut. 22:5) are too numerous to be ignored.
In spite of these clouds of witnesses, some Christians will still want to insist that Deut. 22:5 must be obeyed by Christian Women. This was also the case in the times of the early Apostles. They insisted that the Gentiles and likewise the Jews must keep the law of circumcision that Moses commanded. Paul the Apostle was vehemently persecuted for teaching otherwise. Even today, so many religious leaders are doing the same persecuting brethren and churches teaching that the New Testament Saints do not live by the laws of Moses as the scripture emphatically teaches. If the Jews that were under the law have been delivered from it, why then are we (formerly called Gentiles) trying to bear the burden the Jews could not bear?
Paul says he's afraid of those who are still trying to keep the Law of Moses. “Ye observe days, and months and times and years. I am afraid of you lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain” (Gal. 4:10-11).

WHY THEN WAS THE LAW GIVEN?

“….It was added because of transgression, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made, and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator…Before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterward be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ that we might be justified by faith” (Gal. 3:19-24).
The Law of Moses was only to last until Christ come to fulfill the promise God made to Abraham. “But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a school master” (Gal. 3:25). The Old Testament was imposed on the Jews until the time of reformation (Heb. 9:10).

REASONS WHY THE LAW WAS ABOLISHED

1. The Law Brought a Curse on the Jews

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse (spelt out in Deut. 28:15-68), for it is written cursed be every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of in the book of the law to do them” (Gal. 3:10).
Under the Law of Moses, the Jews got blessed by keeping the law (Deut. 28:1-14) and got cursed for breaking the law (Deut. 28:15-68). History reveals that they couldn't keep the laws and consequently came under the curse. Their inability to keep the laws was because of their carnal nature (Rom. 7:14). It takes a spiritual man to keep a spiritual law.

2. The Law Brought Wrath on the Jews


“Because the law worketh wrath, for where no law is, there is no transgression” (Rom. 4:15). A typical example of this is recorded in Num. 11:1, where the fire of the Lord was kindled against the Jews when they murmured and complained against Moses. Many of the Jews died. In another instance recorded in Num. 21:5-6, fiery serpents were sent to bite the people when they spoke against God and Moses. In contrast, they were not punished when they committed similar offence under Abrahamic covenant. (Ex. 16:2 & 17:3). There was no mercy under the Law of Moses the soul that sinneth, it shall die (Heb. 10:28). Stubbornness under the law also attracted death penalty (Deut. 21:18-21). Also if a lady was disvirgined before marriage and the husband found out, she was stoned to death (Deut. 22:13-21). A young man who gathered sticks on the Sabbath day was not exempted from death penalty (Num. 15:32-36). “He that despised Moses law died without mercy under two or three witnesses” (Heb. 10:28). “And the commandment which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death” (Rom. 7:14).

3. The Law Made Nothing Perfect.

“For the law made nothing perfect but the bringing in of a better hope did by which we draw nigh unto God” (Heb. 7:19).
So, Deut. 22:5 made nothing perfect for the Jews and it won't do any better for you.


4. The Law Made No One Perfect.


“For the law having a shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the things can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect (as pertaining to the conscience)” (Heb. 10:1).

See also Heb. 9:9. What Paul is saying here is that the Old Covenant sacrifices couldn't remove the guilt of sin. Only faith in the blood of Jesus will remove the guilt of sin.

“For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God purge your conscience from dead works (all practices in the Old Testament including Deut. 22:5) to serve the living God. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins” (Heb. 9:13-14, 10:4).

5. The Law Could Not Give Life.

“Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid, for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness would have been by the law. For what the law could not do (produce life), in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh. And the commandment which was ordained to life I found to be unto death. For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof” (Gal. 3:21, Rom. 8:3, 7:10, Heb. 7:18).

6. The Law Came To Amplify Sin

“What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay I had not known sin but by the law. For I had not known lust except the law had said THOU SHALL NOT COVET. But sin taking occasion by the commandment wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law, sin was dead” (Rom. 7:7)

7. The Law Could Not Give The Jews Ability To Live Above Sin.

CHRIST reed Isaiah(old testament book)... hE quoted from old testament that we neglect today...saying that we are new testament saint.
"And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written," (Luke 4:17).
The Bible as a whole is the word of GOD, none is from the devil

“….It was added because of transgression, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made, and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator…Before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterward be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ that we might be justified by faith” (Gal. 3:19-24).
The Law of Moses was only to last until Christ come to fulfill the promise God made to Abraham. “But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a school master” (Gal. 3:25). The Old Testament was imposed on the Jews until the time of reformation (Heb. 9:10).

REASONS WHY THE LAW WAS ABOLISHED

1. The Law Brought a Curse on the Jews

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse (spelt out in Deut. 28:15-68), for it is written cursed be every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of in the book of the law to do them” (Gal. 3:10).
Under the Law of Moses, the Jews got blessed by keeping the law (Deut. 28:1-14) and got cursed for breaking the law (Deut. 28:15-68). History reveals that they couldn't keep the laws and consequently came under the curse. Their inability to keep the laws was because of their carnal nature (Rom. 7:14). It takes a spiritual man to keep a spiritual law.

2. The Law Brought Wrath on the Jews


“Because the law worketh wrath, for where no law is, there is no transgression” (Rom. 4:15). A typical example of this is recorded in Num. 11:1, where the fire of the Lord was kindled against the Jews when they murmured and complained against Moses. Many of the Jews died. In another instance recorded in Num. 21:5-6, fiery serpents were sent to bite the people when they spoke against God and Moses. In contrast, they were not punished when they committed similar offence under Abrahamic covenant. (Ex. 16:2 & 17:3). There was no mercy under the Law of Moses the soul that sinneth, it shall die (Heb. 10:28). Stubbornness under the law also attracted death penalty (Deut. 21:18-21). Also if a lady was disvirgined before marriage and the husband found out, she was stoned to death (Deut. 22:13-21). A young man who gathered sticks on the Sabbath day was not exempted from death penalty (Num. 15:32-36). “He that despised Moses law died without mercy under two or three witnesses” (Heb. 10:28). “And the commandment which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death” (Rom. 7:14).

3. The Law Made Nothing Perfect.

“For the law made nothing perfect but the bringing in of a better hope did by which we draw nigh unto God” (Heb. 7:19).
So, Deut. 22:5 made nothing perfect for the Jews and it won't do any better for you.


4. The Law Made No One Perfect.


“For the law having a shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the things can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect (as pertaining to the conscience)” (Heb. 10:1).

See also Heb. 9:9. What Paul is saying here is that the Old Covenant sacrifices couldn't remove the guilt of sin. Only faith in the blood of Jesus will remove the guilt of sin.

“For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God purge your conscience from dead works (all practices in the Old Testament including Deut. 22:5) to serve the living God. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins” (Heb. 9:13-14, 10:4).

5. The Law Could Not Give Life.

“Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid, for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness would have been by the law. For what the law could not do (produce life), in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh. And the commandment which was ordained to life I found to be unto death. For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof” (Gal. 3:21, Rom. 8:3, 7:10, Heb. 7:18).

6. The Law Came To Amplify Sin

“What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay I had not known sin but by the law. For I had not known lust except the law had said THOU SHALL NOT COVET. But sin taking occasion by the commandment wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law, sin was dead” (Rom. 7:7)

7. The Law Could Not Give The Jews Ability To Live Above Sin.


“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh. God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh. For that which I do I allow not, for what I would, that do I not but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. For I know that in me (that is in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing for to will is present in me but how to perform that which is good I find not” (Rom. 8:3, 7:15-18).

8. Under the Law, the Jews Could Not Have Personal Fellowship with God or Approach Him.

“And the LORD said unto Moses. Go down; charge the people lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze and many of them perish. And let the priest also, which come near to the LORD, sanctify themselves, lest the LORD break forth upon them. And Moses said unto the LORD, the people cannot come up to Mount Sinai…..” But into the second (most holy place) went the high priest ALONE once every year…” (Ex.19:21-23, Heb. 9:7).

“And they said unto Moses, speak thou with us, and we will hear, but let not God speak with us lest we die. And the people stood AFAR OFF and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was” (Ex. 20: 19, 21).

9. If You Break One Law, You Have Broken All the Laws

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” (James2:10).

There're over 600 laws the Jews had to obey. Deut. 22:5 is just one of them. For instance, verse 9 of the same chapter says the Jews shouldn't' plant two different kind of crops on the same farm land. Also, verse 11 says they shouldn't' put on garment of mixed fabrics. How many of those trying to obey Deut. 22:5 keep these other laws? If the New Testament Saints were to live by the Law of Moses, virtually everyone would have been guilty of breaking the law. None of us for instance keeps the law of Sabbath. Even most of those who worship on Sabbath days do not necessarily keep it. No form of work was to be done on it. Not even cooking or clean-ups.

10. The Presence of the Law Brought Condemnation to the Gentiles[b][/b]

The presence of the law implied condemnation for the Gentiles because they were excluded from the covenant. The law stood as a wall separating the Jews from the Gentiles. It also led to hostility between both races therefore creating enmity. (Eph. 2:11-16).
