. . . , And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name, which is above every name: (Philippians 2:8-9).

Humility is a quality of the recreated human spirit that attracts divine favour and promotion. It’s an inner ability—a vital force—which enables you to respond with absolute submissiveness to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, through the Word of God. It’s often expressed in action by the willingness to take on the responsibility of service to others, in loyalty to the Word.

The Lord Jesus lived a practical example of what true humility is. First, He demonstrated His total submission to the will of the Father as it is written

Hebrews 10:7:
"Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is
written of me,) to do thy will, O God."

Secondly, the
Bible tells us in Philippians 2:6-9, that though He was equal with God, He didn’t count His equality with God anything to latch on to. Rather, He made Himself of no reputation, took upon Him the form of a servant, and became obedient unto death. For this reason, God exalted Him and gave Him a name that is above every name.

As believers, we’re to have the mind of Christ and emulate His humility. True humility for us is to be submissive to the Lordship of the Word of God. So you’ve got to know the Word, and let the Word guide your thoughts, words, and actions. That’s the way to be submissive to Jesus, for He is the Living Word.

Moreover, 1 Peter 5:6 enjoins us to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God that we may be exalted in due time. Just as Jesus was exalted for doing the Father’s will, you too will be promoted from glory toglory as you live in total submission to the Word.

That line caught me big. To be humble is to serve him, to serve him is to love him, to love him is to keep his commandments.

Glad the passages spells out the true meaning of humility which is absolute obedience/abidance to one's values or instructions.

Humility is not morality or not enjoying\displaying your wealth so that people will say "ohh what a humble man...". Such is the falsities that pervades religions today, where people praise you for not exercising your powers/rights and call it humility. Humility is the exercise(obedience) of power, not the denial of it.

True humility is in agreement to the word/truth, it has little to do with outward appearance.

@okeyxyz
Praise you for not exercising your powers? Humility?

Humility isn't actually humility unless you are good enough at something to be humble.

Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth
- Numbers 12:3 New American Standard Bible

Being good enough at that thing; ie: exercising, practicing/following the steps of that thing is the humility itself. Humility is not abandoning your position so that people can praise you for not using your position. That is false and human humility; and is contrary to God;s definition. Using your bible quote:

Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth

It means that Moses kept/followed the dictates of his position/calling. This is humility.
