My Jamb Experience (Part 6b)
Leaving my 1st school:
With a reluctant body, lazy feet, unwilling
hands and a demoralized system, i go to work
daily like someone attending a compulsory
exam preparation class.
Things changed quickly, i could barely handle
the chalk with joy, the thought of the kids and
their love is struggling with my morale to
work.
But what was responsible for this? Not only
for the fact that big aunty was annoying but
also because i was swimming with a shark
and it made me feel worse.
A friend of mine who was also close to
Benedict told me about how Benedict's salary
was increased to 10k because he promised to
make us both serve the school for 2 yrs.
I stylishly asked him and i realised the truth.
Oh? That's it! That's the reason for my
reluctancy and dullness. We still chat as
friends but i weep in my heart each time i
talked to him during school breaks.
The month was over and the salary was
delayed. I asked for mine but only to be given
excuses by Big Aunty that the school was
owing Benedict too. I wondered what that
meant.
Benedict travelled and i continued with the
school for the summer coaching since Big
Aunty promised to pay me if i showed up. I
did best, piled up my unpaid debts yet no
show. The money wasnt the problem then
but the wicked act of these Trio. I got home
one day and thought of the best way to leave
the school...
My Resignation Letter
The love of the kids was still burning
ceaselessly in my heart but i wont let that stop
what i was about doing. I summoned Big
Uncle and Aunty to a meeting and LIED that i
had gained Admission to the University of
Ibadan.
Fake smiles, sad looks following by shallow
minded congratulations from the couple. I
gave them a month to pay me up as i would
be in need of money for school but that did
not work an inch.
Desperation set in as i took my shirt from the
hanger. My temper rose to a thermo-couple's
temperature, nothing could stop me.
I was moving very fast pounding the ground
like a soldier march parade, i badged into the
compound of Big Uncle headed straight to
their room, kicked the door open and guess
what i saw?
I met the couple eating a President's meal, i
asked for my money in a very loud voice, they
asked me to keep calm and not shout but i
dashed out and knocked very hard on their
neighbours' doors to come out and watch a
drama. I stood outside the house trying to
pull a crowd, i was shouting and jumping, big
aunty's wicked coupled with my friend's
betrayal made the lamp of the matter burned
with fuel.
Big Aunty came out at last with my money
and that was how i gave them my resignation
letter. It was after then i remembered my
Principal's favourite quote - "A human being
must run mad for at least 5 mins everyday" I
just had mine...
I'll miss the kids and i'm beginning to love
teaching too. What Next?
To be continued...

My Jamb Story VI
My Second Jamb:
I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGISE FOR TAKING YOU THROUGH SOME PARTS OF THE STORY WHICH WASNT ACTUALLY PART OF THE STORY. I DID THAT BECAUSE I WOULD BE TOO BUSY TO WRITE THE REAL STORY.....THANKS
I attended a tutorial, got some past questions and lent how to use the Brochure and Jamb Syllabus.
After i left my working place, my next target was passing Jamb and i was desperate to get the best out of the exam. I wanted to return the blow and cure my injuries quicker than ever.
1 week to Jamb and i was really afraid. I did my best to prepare well but something was wrong again. Let me show you this:
1st Choice: University Of Lagos
2nd Choice: University of Ibadan
Subjects:
Use of English
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Exam Centre: Ikeja
I got to Cayley College Ikeja very early that morning, got searched and settled down for the exam. I prayed seriously but i was still very much afraid because of my 1st experience. The question paper was passed and the exam started. I finished English, moved over to Biology, Physics was next and Chemistry was last. I wasnt sure of the Chemistry but i did my best.
The result was out in a week and i was happy with the result.
"256" i smashed it! What a great
score. I was so happy but no pride. What else? Post jamb

My JAMB VII
My 3rd Jamb:
Post - Ume came but i still did not gain
admission. My school combinations were too
bad, two federal schools at a time.
Ha! I almost cried when i was told what it
meant but the deed was done.
University of Ibadan did not even invite me
for their Interview. While Unilag's post Jamb
didnt even favour me. My score was too low
to be admitted for Medicine.
I had to sit at home for another year again....
I went back to teaching in another school and
it was more fun with a slight boost in my
salary.
I became popular in my area for private
teachings. I was making close to 20k monthly
from teaching and it made me a different
person entirely.
It killed my pride, burnt my temper and i
became a new person.
Nothing much to write about my 3rd Jamb
because i prepared the same way i did for the
2nd and i smashed it.
"239" wasn't a bad one. But after that Jamb,
my worries began.
I was not having problem with Jamb again
neither was i with Post Jamb and I've also
learnt about school combinations and the
likes but my problem was gaining ADMISSION.
My 4th Jamb
I felt very reluctant to answer after one of
those girls i punished at school called me
"Senior Akin". My mates were all gone and
were in various levels yet i'm writing Jamb
with the ones i used to call my Juniors.
Desperation set in and i could have been very
grateful if any school could offer me "Yoruba
Engineering" due to my desperation of
gaining admission quickly.
Medicine was become an unclimb-able
mountain to me. I thought within myself, am i
even meant to be a doctor?
I dont like to read much but i love Maths and
anything software. I decided afs from that
day to become a Computer Scientist.
I bought the Jamb form passed as usual yet
no admission. I was fed up then i decided
that my 5th Jamb would be the last.... Was it
the last?

My Jamb Story
The Concluding Part
A wandering evangelist or tourist, whichever
you choose to call me.
My struggles with admission continued, yet i
was determined to make my 5th jamb the
last.
Desperation coupled with determination and
a revenge minded preparation led me to
purchasing my 5th Jamb form.
I was no longer a novice when it comes to
filling Jamb forms in fact i deserved an
honorary degree because i had become a
wizard in school combination, subject
combination and school abbreviations.
I was so much in need of admission that i
could have gracefully accepted YORUBA
ENGINEERING from any school that was ready
to offer such.
Jamb and admission were becoming an
unclimbable mountain to me. I thought of a
better plan...
All Nigerian Universities i applied and chosen
for post-utme exams refused to admit me
and then i started wandering if my
forefathers had offended them.
I jumped from one school to another writing
exams, exploring and adoring the beautiful
structures only to find my name missing on
their admission list.
Permit me to pour out m,y mind, each time
an admission list was out, i used different
permutations of my name to find out if there
was any error of any sort but the same story
continues...
I moved closer to God, in fact i attended
almost every church programs. As if that
wasn't enough, i prayed at different
mountains just to see if the password to
Jamb was hidden somewhere around there.
Ori-oke gbogun mi, Ori oke Olode, Odo-Owa,
Ikeji Arakeji, Ori Oke Isegun, Oke Iye, Ori oke
Aanu, Ori-oke Erinmo-Ijesha, Ori-oke Ogba
Alaafia.... and many others
I prepared for the exam in abetter way,
covered the syllabus, attended tutorials and
also worked thoroughly on the past
questions.
I got to the exam hall earlier than usual, did
the exam and was glad i smashed it.
I went back home, cross-checked all
questions and concluded i should score
around 259.
No pride! No high shoulders! I was only glad
i did the right thing but there was a prayer i
forgot to say...
The result was out, i went to the cafe, saw
many people lamenting over poor results. Ha!
059, 103 in fact 018, i wondered what they
went to the hall to do.
I checked my result with both eyes widely
opened but guess what? I discovered i
forgot to say a prayer...
"189" was out of it, i rejected the slip and
requested for a re-print but alas! i only spent
extra cash. I shook my head, went home and
hoped for a re-mark.
Instead "Oga Dibu" asked me to bring
N100,000 for a re-mark. Did i pay 100k to
purchase the form?
I forgot to include this man in my prayers
and i somehow paid for it...
A school came to my rescue, even though i
didn't appreciate it at first, i later did since it
could offer me a Bsc. Comp. Sci. without
Jamb, "Oga Dibu" and Post-Ume
THE END!!!
