I am aware that if US strikes Syria when Britain, China and Russia have said no, there will be grave consequences. Obama is aware of that. This is why he's waiting and delaying to order for a strike. Obama is handicapped because US greatest ally, Britain has backed out of the plan to strike Syria. However, I do not agree for a second that Assad is not responsible of the chemical weapon that was used against innocent and helpless civilians. The rebels couldn't have gotten a sophisticated weapon like that. From where? We are not talking about grenade bombs here. We are talking about Chemical weapons, which Russia and Iran, the two greatest allies of Syria possess. US is not a war-monger country. If after thorough investigation and ongoing scanning, and it is discovered that Assad indeed used chemical weapon against his own people, I believe it is wise for Obama to order for a strike. Syria should be punished for crossing the red line. It is against international law to use chemical weapon during war how much more a civil war. But again, I know Obama is facing several choices. The fact that the rebels have link with Al-Qaeda is one reason Obama will not make the choice of supplying weapons to them. Again, Americans will not agree for US soldiers to be on ground in Syria because of resources and men they have lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. If Obama strikes, Russia and Iran may be provoked. Iran is Syria's strongest ally because of the role Syria played during their war against Iraq. So, I know that whatever choice Obama makes, the consequence will be grave. However, I believe if it is proven that Assad indeed used chemical weapons against his people, Syria should be punished. I think this is why Obama is delaying any military action. He wants to get more coalition and clearer evidence. 1 Like |

Where is prophet Obadiah777 and his slave called most high? These people had been propogating ministry of world war 3 and escalation of the world. They claimed the world will see the return of the lord with fire through nukes on thursday (three days ago) but there prophecy failed. They later moved it to next week that damascus will be destroyed and innocent lives will all die....now Obama has shifted military strike to be debated among the congress. Lol....some people on this forum are the best tool for destroying christinsanity and disbelief in prophesy. Obadiah or whoever know him should go and inform him that his prophesy, yehsua, yahwahu and vision of doom has failed him. 2 Likes |

Either way.... republicans will definitely use this against the democrats in the next election. Politics all the way. Obama should learn to think before he talks. Now he has to save face and soft pedal by asking congress for approval (which he will not likely get). While the whole world watch the events unfold. Thank God for Russia and china. These bloody civilians would have put the world in their dirty pockets. 2 Likes |

Senator John McCain criticized President Barack Obama’s plans for limited air strikes on Syria as “cosmetic” on Friday, saying the failure of the United States to intervene in the country’s civil war was “shameful.” It is this same McCain that will blame Obama if the air strikes on Syria backfires. Assad will defend Syria, Russia will join and no one can predict the negative outcome of the US air strike. Obama should Let sleeping dogs lie. |

KwoiZabo: liar. what is your proof. what prove does the Assad's regime have that the opposition did that. America have said that its only the regime that has such capabilities and the seven locations have so far been rebel controlled areas. America cannot let out their proof cos it will compromise their intelligence gathering apparatus but I believe when they show it to congress, they'll get approval. meanwhile instead of Russia to join the debate putin just said everything is rubbish.Part of the prove is out. Isreali inteligence intercepted a classified phone conversation between assad military generals after the attack on how to cover it up and linked CIA on as the conversation was going on. 1 Like |

Obama has no balls and very reluctant to wage war on Syria. This is a tactical way to shift his responsibility to congress. In his mind, he's hoping that the congress rejects his war proposal. |

Training local insurgents to carry out attacks on Americans and innocent locals thereby giving them an excuse to launch an attack has been a tried and true trademark of the American Govt. They believe it is the only way to persuade an always reluctant congress that there is a need to go to war. Nice to see after many years, they haven't lost their touch or even attempted to be more subtle. Guess if it ain't broke don't fix it is something they also believe. 1 Like |

Chemical Weapon in the hands of rebels and terrorists will destroy Israel. America's motive is to destroy the Chemical Weapons. This whole war cry is to save Israel from extinction or something close to it. I am particularly worried that Al Qaeda and Boko Haram, if they get a hold of these chemical weapons, will kill millions of people. Looking at the larger gains, I support America's invasion of Syria and total destruction of these chemical weapon stockpiles and destruction of rebel forces in possession of knowledge to produce these weapons. This is my stance, at this moment, I could change my mind any time. |

My ppl let us stop deceiving our self and let us don't allow America to be taking us for fool, am not in support of Assad for long time Rule, but am fully disbelieve that Assad use such weapon, am gonna happy if American intelligent can release the real perpetrator of this to the public, which few of us had already know, this Weapon come from Saudi-Arabia to hand of Rebel group that contain 85% of AL-QAIDA Militant with no much experience on those that receive this weapon and went ahead to mistakenly lunch it. The question I wanna ask now is why did UK backed out? Why the super mighty change his mind and be planning to wait for congress Decision and lastly will this America missile only affect Assad Military or including some civilian and if its only Military are they not Syrian, are they not father, husband, brother, uncle or son to somebody else Though most ppl has been blind and they can't see the truth, now tell me why would Assad use such weapon since he know the consequence or we u tell me that 27 years raining president don't know the rule that guide every weapon. Anyway its Amateur Al-Qaida militant that use chemical weapon in Syrian after Receiving it from Saudi Arab without no proper Guide and America and UK has learn that |

America, Syria and the rest of us By Femi Fani-Kayode I am proud of the decision that the British Parliament has taken not to join in the attack on Syria. Prime Minister David Cameron has been badly humiliated and this is a great triumph for Ed Milliband, the Leader of the Opposition. Kudos to my friend, Mr. George Galloway, MP, for his brilliant and stirring speech on the floor of the House of Commons on this issue. 1 Like |

This is one wrong move i tink Obama is making,(atleast 4 now) i don't knw if dey are actual rebels or whether dey are terrorists. If he cud guarantee that everyone who comes to gt weapons that they provide was actualy a legitimate rebel and nt al-Qaida,then i would b mre suportive of it. I tink if dis was 15yrs ago, they would probably have reacted sooner. There's a real reluctance among American leadership. I bet he won't get the approval 4rm the congress. Because sm are against it,expecialy congresswoman Tammy Duckworth. |

Being an American President must be tough! On the one hand, you have an army of critics ready to shell you with verbal missiles for being a spineless, gutless wimp who stood by and watch while Chemical weapons are deployed against humans, sending thousands to their painful deaths. These critics would further claim that the fact you stood by and did nothing has diminished America's influence in global politics and people would no longer revere an America that was once powerful and mighty. Of course, it's all your fault, you did nothing. These critics will cite the wise and prompt intervention of Bill Clinton in Kosovo, despite the huge protests and warnings of both Russia and China. This, they will claim, is how to wield the power that comes with being the POTUS! ....Your position is worse off if you've once declared a "red line" and the world is waiting to see if there's a bite behind your bark On the other hand, you've got an army of liberals, who just think it should be none of America's business if a bunch of jihadists and a brutal dictator supported by Hezbollah - are turning the cannons against themselves. There are no winners here, and frankly speaking, America has no friends on either side. These people will argue that America should mind its own business at home, they would argue that the country is going bankrupt after decades of needless wars that result in nothing. What difference does it make if someone uses a Chemical weapon vs someone who uses a conventional bomb? The end result is death - why make so much fuss about how it happens? They will claim that America should bring its troops home, engage in the promised "nation building", focus on where its core interests lie and those of its allies, and let the rest of the world kill themselves off if they must. ...Again, your position is worse off if you have once be handed the Nobel peace prize. If America intervenes, it loses, if America doesn't intervene, it loses. Russia on the other hand doesn't have to do anything - by sticking to the status quo, it wins. If America intervenes, Russia will simply say " Hey, we did our best to keep Syria from the hands of the blood thirsty sharks" - Russian public will applaud their government for this and further escalation of the violence in the region will be blamed on America. If America doesn't intervene, Russia will simply say "We stood firm and didn't let the blood thirsty sharks have Syria for dessert, they backed off one by one, from Britain, to France and now the US" - Russian public will applaud their government for this, and it's lost image as a superpower who can stand up to the West, will be restored. Obama's decision to seek congress approval is a wise one, although a risky calculation. If Congress approves, then he gets all the domestic legitimacy he requires for a strike - he wouldn't give an @rse what Russians think or say - American public have approved and that's all that matters to him. If he gets shot down at Congress, his image and reputation both domestic and internationally, will be badly tarnished. The goodwill he earned on foreign policy in his first term will be reduced to nothing and his party will struggle at the next elections. At the moment, it is a wait and see game. 3 Likes |
