Lagusta: There is no strong & verifiable evidence that monosodium glutamate is bad. That's why its still added to food. I hear that no seasoning powder is manufactured without adding it. The food & beverage industry is loaded with murderers |

speedyboi: Ignorance kills. Its a pity that when Nigerian Organizations are regulating things Nigerians are so carried away with 'Corruption anthem that they Neglect them or fail to listen. To them 'only International Organizations know what's right' and when the international Organizations makes their own regulations, they blame Nigerian Organizations for not doing the same (which they have done several times). The blame should be on manufacturer not consumers!! Nafdac should be prosecuting the bakeries.... |

Some custards contains high level of sulphur from the raw material "corn starch" likewise some glucose syrup used in confectioneries like sweets and biscuits.I ould advice that we eat natural foods as much as we can ,normal ogi/eko corn pap instead of custards, chew kuli in place of biscuits. segzytemi: 1 Like |

Stop spreading false information. Indomie does not contain BHT and BHQ. Where did you get such a false information from? People should learn to be objective and honest. What additives does Indomie use that SON, ISO and NIS not approve or accept? Go get your facts well. If you know what certifications and standards Indomie conforms to you wouldn't post that false info. |

What are BHAand BHT? Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and the related compound butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) are phenolic compounds that are often added to foods to preserve fats. How do they preserve food? BHA and BHT are antioxidants. Oxygen reacts preferentially with BHA or BHT rather than oxidizing fats or oils, thereby protecting them from spoilage. In addition to being oxidizable, BHA and BHT are fat-soluble. Both molecules are incompatible with ferric salts. In addition to preserving foods, BHA and BHT are also used to preserve fats and oils in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. What foods contain BHA and BHT? BHA is generally used to keep fats from becoming rancid. It is also used as a yeast de-foaming agent. BHA is found in butter, meats, cereals, chewing gum, baked goods, snack foods, dehydrated potatoes, and beer. It is also found in animal feed, food packaging, cosmetics, rubber products, and petroleum products. BHT also prevents oxidative rancidity of fats. It is used to preserve food odor, color, and flavor. Many packaging materials incorporate BHT. It is also added directly to shortening, cereals, and other foods containing fats and oils. Are BHA and BHT safe? Both BHA and BHT have undergone the additive application and review process required by the US Food and Drug Administration. However, the same chemical properties which make BHA and BHT excellent preservatives may also be implicated in health effects. The oxidative characteristics and/or metabolites of BHA and BHT may contribute to carcinogenicity or tumorigenicity; however the same reactions may combat oxidative stress. There is evidence that certain persons may have difficulty metabolizing BHA and BHT, resulting in health and behavior changes. BHA and BHT may have antiviral and antimicrobial activities. In addition.. Debate surrounds the link of BHT and BHA to cancer risk, some food industries have voluntarily eliminated this additive from their products... 1 Like |

I just checked, the 2 different packs of indomie 'chicken pepper' & 'oriental' flavors indicate they both contain TBHQ, conspicuously written. Worse, the seasonings also contain d monosodium glutamate (E621). Who should be getting his facts right here? 3 Likes |

Dis Guy: Which bakeries? Mud house bakeries wey no get address? The approved bakeries have stopped using bromate since....like of Shoprite, Ostrich bakeries etc don't use Bromate. Bakeries who still use bromate are those illegal unrecognized bakeries (oshodi bread and likes). The best Nafdac can do is warn retailers not to purchase from them and destroy the bakeries (which are mostly discreetly located). And who they own those mushroom bakeries sef? No be the self employed Nigerians? The same ones who abuse government of being selfish and corrupt? 1 Like |

The best is to cook ur food urself by so doing,u know what's inside ur food. Drink water in place of soft drinks. Avoid constant consumption of finger chops.(Once a week is still ok) Avoid stress. Have 5-8hrs sleep each day. Eat more of fresh fruits and veggis. Start ur day wt lemon/lime water or just water. Reduce intake of alcohol, smoking and fried foods. Exercise or at least take a 30mins walk each day. God will help us all. 2 Likes |

bknight: Don't mind him jor! He probably is an employee of dufil prima and he has arrived to defend his employer. In all fairness all noodle manufacturers in nigeria add BHA & BHT in their noodles. Anyone here in doubt should simply buy any brand of noodles, check the pack and read the list of ingredients added. BHT & BHA are conspicuously there. 1 Like |

This is probably bad PR for dufil prima but the truth must be told. The Nigeria business model is "money over everything". They don't care about what they stuff down you as long as it makes them money. They have no responsibility to you and the consumers only the shareholders. |
