Why Is U.s.a So Great? by kingviny: 11:56am On Sep 24, 2013
The rise of this great nation is very legendary. The US of A has produced the richest of people on earth in this century, they have the best of Military, the best of education, the best of technologies and the best of entertainments. They are the best in sports. Their GDP is more than that of China and Japan (Asian power houses) put together. If GDP is a measure of productivity then what is it that makes these 317 million Americans more productive than over 1.3 billion Chinese? What is the culture and the DNA of the Americans that makes them so great?

This puzzle is what I would like us to explore on this thread so that we can all learn from them. If you are an American or if you have lived or you are still living in America (USA off course) then please share the secret with us. Nigeria and Nigerians badly needs to learn from USA!

If we cannot fix our country like they did, then we might as well ask the British back! Please, let's be objective and not sentimental in our commentary.

I strongly feel that our tradition is a major clog in the wheel of our progress. Many of these traditions are so primitive and diabolical that little wonder, demons, phantoms and indeed evil darkness now have a stronghold on the country since they have high patronage. What good can then really be achieved in 'hell'.

We need to break away from any limitations on our emancipation just like the Americans did from the British several centuries ago. We need to break away from anything that will serve as a stumbling block to our progress. We need to gain Independence off our Mediocrity!

The culture of favouritism and tribalism must be tackled head on. Meritocracy must prevail.

Poor maintenance culture, dirtiness, greed, crass materialism a.k.a "owanbe lifestyle" , corner cutting etc should be surgically removed from our social DNA.

Positive role models must be encouraged while corrupt rouge models must be exposed and punished severely.

A new national social culture must be developed and the entire citizen of the country must be made to key into it. This should be the new Nigerian dream just like the American dream.

If we can all work at this at our own little sphere of influence, in no time, there will be a positive change in the country.

Our children and our children's children will then not forget us, history will not then forget us.

The US never fixed their country...they built it and maintained it. The foundation of the nation is the constitution which was well thought out and pretty much adhered to up to the turn of the last century. Nigeria need to do the same with its constitution. After the rules comes the game...the game of development and progress. America do not play follow follow....they operate as though they are the only ones on earth....they do not look to copy from others and have always strive to innovate to make life easier and better for themselves. Is Nigeria trying to be self sufficient?...trying to be independent?....trying to innovate?...trying to motivate and inspire local development?....investing in its most precious resources its young people?...giving them the opportunities and tools to develop the nation? America did not become America overnight. How can Nigeria develop when its population is increasingly becoming a people of local body and foreign mind? Nigeria needs to look inwards. "The heights of great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight but they as their companions slept were toiling upwards through the night".

After the 1929 depression, America was down. But they were able to 'fix' themselves. They went on to win the gold medal in the 2nd world war Armageddon. They developed their science and technologies which allowed them to become the supremo on earth today. But your comment is highly welcome.
