I remember my primary and secondary school days. I remember the way my teachers taught me. They would make examples and illustrations with anything just for me to understand what was being taught. I still remember what I learnt when I was in Primary 3.

I am now a 300level university student. Most of what I remember in my 100 level scheme were what I read on my own.

Our primary school teachers are far better than most of our university lecturers when it comes to imparting knowledge.

The big question is WHO should receive more pay?? UNIVERSITY LECTURERS OR PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS? Who should embark on indefinite industrial strike action as a result of unpaid earned allowances?

Op that was then, bcoz now Govt school teachers don't teach like b4. You can imagine where a govt school teacher will bring his/her own business to school. How will he/she be serious about teaching. Bt the lecturers shld get more

NUT ofcourse :they teach from elementary,its not easy to teach a little human being from Letter to Word then to sentence.but ASUU or ASUP teach those that are mature and can read and write by themselves infact they can even pass with ordinary Materials(textbooks or handouts).
lecturing is what many of us can do but not all of us can teach.Thats my opinion sa

Well i don't know d if any of d 2 should receive more dan d other but i sure know my early days teachers did a nice work in my life. However both should be well paid 4 d teachers 2 be properly motivated.
Tinz have certainly changed these days though, we now have teachers who can't score 100 in utme in d elementary skols thereby puttin in doubt d quality of d modern day teachers.

What school, college or lecture brings to men what men bring to take them home in.

Primary school: Immature brain, little or no distraction, garbage in garbage out. Little impact not redeemable.

University: Matured brain , plenty of distractions.
You are expected to think for yourself and take advantage of the lecturers knowledge. There are a lot of other factors.

NUT has less impact because all ASUU can do their job.

Research and development is expected at ASUU level.

Ultimately your Brain is key to the success of both of them.

ASUU gets more pay and rightly so.

The fact that you can make this kind of brainless post shows you why you struggle to remember what you are taught.

it is a KNOWN fact that many things learnt as a kid stick in the brain better. This is why many people learn languages better when taught as kids...and also explains why I still remember the words of a Calabar song I was taught in Primary 3

Seriously though, this is an inane thing to say...the academic qualifications alone that are needed for a career in the University system should tell you which group of academics should earn way more money.

More money won't solve anything. Nigeria is on the decline and our universities and the education system represent everything that's wrong with this country. The general trend since the 80s has been one of decline so it shouldn't surprise anyone that our schools are also reflecting that trend. Our children will inherit a public school infrastrcture that will be progresively worse than the ones we and our parents attended unless something drastic ( short of a positive military coup) is done to reset the Nigerian psyche from ground-up.

IMHO teachers aren't givn adequate attention $ compensation despite dia efforts in moulding even d lecturers. I pray a day will come wen most of ds teachers will be paid heavily such dat dey can carter well fr their family.
