We are presently held hostage by some disgruntled passengers on another Arik flight.
They are presently on the tarmac preventing our plane from taking off

Airport security have been alerted and we have been waiting for them to respond for the past 30 mins

@OP that is not Hostage! They are not inside the plane and if you are being held Hostage U can't type nor have time to send messages.

Hostage is referred to as a person given as a pledge or security for the performance of the conditions of a treaty or stipulations of any kind, on the performance of which the person is to be released.
So @ OP, is that what us going on

OP i think the proper word should be PICKETTING not 'Hostage-taking' since your aggressors are possibly unarmed and you guys are not under any immediate threat nor danger.
