An interesting method of protest is going to start today in the United States of America.
This method known as goverment shutdown is an accepted mode of protest in which aggrieved members of the opposition party can shutdown government functions i.e paralyse the activities of all arms of government by not approving the release of funds. This is possible with the federalism system of Government in which states control their resources.
This time around, the republicans who are not in support of Mr Obama's obamacare health scheme refused to pass the budget for the new year which is supposed to start today as the previous year's budget stopped yesterday thereby resulting in the non-release of funds for government activities.
As a result of globalisation, economic shutdown in USA will surely have it's effect on other countries of the world, what and how severe do you think the effects will be?
For those crying for federalism in Nigeria, do you think Nigeria will be able to cope with an economic shutdown such as this?
