Typical Nigerian bias against Ghana. Why do most Nigerians
have so much HATE against Ghanaians?

Is it because they know, deep down, they have achieved next to n0thing c0mpared to their
smaller neighbour?

Is it because the international media mostly have good news from Ghana compared to them?

Is it because utterances are growing and constant reference to Ghana by 0bjective Nigerians and the world over on the rapid economic and political gains the smaller country continues to make?.

0MG:

Ogbara and Abaniwonda are among the
many Nigerians who are reported to
have taken their lives this year.
On July 7, Elizabeth Andrew of No. 17,
Irawo-Owuro Street, Isheri Oshin,
Lagos, was found hanging on the metal
burglary bars behind a window in her
apartment. Before help could reach her,
Andrew was dead.
A month before that, Afeez Olaoye was
also found hanging in his room at No. 4,
Ajibulu Street, Mafolukwu, Oshodi,
Lagos.
In the month of March, three suicide
cases were also recorded in Lagos. The
State Criminal Investigations
Department got a report on March 26
that one Nnamdi Osita was found
hanging in a classroom in a primary
school at Satellite Town.
Just before Osita's case was reported,
Ekpesikpe Iman was found dead in her
brother's Ajegunle house after hanging
herself.
Similarly, Azeez Nurudeen of No. 9,
Amusa Street, Layeni, Ajegunle, was
found hanging in his apartment.
These suicide cases are among the few
that were reported to the police in
Lagos this year. Last year, the police did
not have any record of suicide between
March and December 2010; while only
one suicide was reported between
January and March 2010.
The suicide cases are not limited to
Lagos alone. In Jalingo, Taraba State, a
30-year-old woman, Mrs. Bilkisi Gidado,
committed suicide after her husband
reportedly took a second wife. Gidado
was said to have set herself ablaze and
eventually fell into a well in her
residence.
Also in Ajuwon, Ogun State, Tobilola
Ajihun killed herself after her longtime
boyfriend, Simeon Akinremi, rejected
her pregnancy.

More suffering for Ghanaians... as ‘embattled’ Seth Terkper delivers 2013 budget today
Tweet
LAST UPDATED ON 05 MARCH 2013BYTHESTATESMANONLINE.COMHITS:1260
Ghanaiansshould brace themselves for more continuous hardship, for at 2013 least, as the MinisterofFinance, Mr Seth Terkper delivers the budget statement and economic policy for the year today.
With the nation facing a huge budget deficitofGH¢8.7 billion, GH¢5.4 billion in payment arrears, a total public debtofGH¢33.5 billion, GH¢1.6 billion in over expenditure in 2012 which was used as funds for the Mahama 2012 campaign, the Finance Minister is expected to announce drastic austerity measures which will in turn worsen the hardship onGhanaians.

The budget deficit jumped to 12.1%ofGDP last year, almost double a targetof6.7%, the BankofGhana said February 2013. Two days later, Fitch Ratings cut its outlook on Ghana’s debt to negative from stable. Also, the cedi was Africa’s third-worst performer against the dollar in 2012, weakening 14%, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
According to sources at the MinistryofFinance, the budget to be delivered by Mr Terkper will have no choice, in lightofa crippled economy overseen by the NDC, but contain austerity measures which will bring suffering to the majorityofGhanaians.
The 2013 budget is thus expected to impose more spending cuts on existing programmes and tax rises onGhanaians, and will result in moreGhanaiansfalling below the poverty line.
According to the Minority in Parliament, at the “True stateofthe nation” address, for most partsofthe last four years, Ghana’s economy has had so many opportunities, but there has been so little economic growth.
“This is a government that has been so lucky to have so much resource at its disposal, and yet all the blessings have been eaten up by economic mismanagement. Additionally, this government has borrowed much more money than all previous governments put together. Unfortunately, there is very little to show for the huge debts we are piling up,” the Minority said.

Lagos Ties Ghana, To Become Africa’s 13th Biggest Economy
Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub could soon have a US$45 billion economy – equivalent to that of Ghana, according to a recent report produced by Renaissance Capital economist, Yvonne Mhango.
Mhango says that the size of Lagos State’s economy is currently about US$32 billion, or 12% of Nigeria’s total GDP. However, in 2014 Nigeria is expected to change the base year for its GDP calculation. Nigeria’s GDP is currently calculated by using 1990 as a base year, which does not account for the rapid development of the services, telecoms, and entertainment industries. The rebasing is expected to boost the GDP of Africa’s most populous country by about 40%.
“By our estimates, the Lagos State economy will become Africa’s 13th biggest economy in 2014, around $45 billion,” notes Mhango.
According to Anna Rosenberg, a senior analyst for sub-Saharan Africa at Frontier Strategy Group, Nigeria’s rebased GDP figures, when they are released, are likely to make Nigeria the largest economy in sub-Saharan Africa, surpassing South Africa.
“Nigeria will surpass South Africa as the continent’s largest economy when GDP is revised upwards between 40-60%. It is unclear however, when the new figures will be released. But if GDP increases by 40%, Nigeria’s economy would swell from $275 billion to $385 billion,” said Rosenberg. “South Africa’s economic output is $378.9 billion.”
Although Lagos is the smallest of Nigeria’s 36 states by area, it is by far the most densely populated.
“Lagos State has parallels with South Africa’s smallest province Gauteng, in that it is Nigeria’s smallest, but most densely populated state,” says Mhango. “This will be no surprise to readers that have travelled to Lagos and experienced its congestion. Lagos State accounts for only 0.5% of Nigeria’s total area of 924,000 km2, yet it has the country’s second biggest population, behind Kano.”
