The Kel-Tamashaq (Tuareg) call this guitar style "Ishumar". Although Surbajo is a Fulani (Fulfulde word) the Surbajo beat is truly a blend of Fulani musicians and Tuareg guitar.

Surbajo means close friend.

Depends on the context you use the word "surbajo", if you are using it for a guy Surbajo means very close friend like almost a brother, because the word for a regular friend is "gido". For a woman girlfriend can be "surbajo" depending on how you say it "gidado am" which can also mean my love, or "debbo pullo" (wife/gf).
