why is it that the rich folks give birth to fewer children while the poor guys give birth to more children even though the rich can afford to take care care of as many children they want.

On like the rich who have money to shape the future of their 1, 2, 3 , 4 Kids _{(training one to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, name it. wether they like it or not,)} The poor can only play russian roulette with their kids hoping one of them would be the chamber with the bullet in it.

If he has 10 kids, definitely not all of them would be successful, so he is hoping that maybe;

1. One of his daughters will be pretty enough to land a rich guy for a husband.
2. One might branch into prostitution, Travel to europe and break bread.
3. One of the sons might end up a big time footballer.

i think it has a lot to do with education on the part of that individual and and misplaced priorities because if a father put his children first,he ll have just enough to take adequate care of also some men might have a reversal of fortunes as well

I wish I knew

Most rich people are smart enough to wnat to spend their most on less children instead of leaving the kids to struggle over nothing. Take for instance the average rich family in The States. A good % of the time, children are planned. They already plan out the college fund before he/she is eveneborn , most of the money needed for all the expenses that come with having kids, at the end of it the kids hardly ever have to suffer much in life.

The "poor" just breed and leave the kids to have to struggle for every dime. Also makes one wish they were never even born in the first place


personally I think it's cos the "poor" figure, since I dont have any wealth to show off to the world, at least I can show them Im' "FERTILE" Infact that's most likely the case for most Nigerians.

The reason is simply. The poor are less informed. The rich is aware of FAMILY PLANNING, n can afford it regularly. but d poor may not be aware n even if they r aware, can they afford it? Most of the kids frm d poor class r accidental, not planned for. BTW, the rich may appreciate the advantages of family planning, but d poor may not, Hence, the low socioeconomic class comes with lots of disadvantages, n this is just one.

It not only on BBC news, it is in the USA. It has to do with women, education and carreer goals. Educated women are waiting longer to have children, and educated women are higher up on the economic social class.

I think it is cuz the poor folks believe they are increasing their chances of having a successful child

lack of education/adequate information is part pf the reasons but ultimately it also boils down to individual choices.

I know some poor family with few children and there are many rich educated families with lots of children too. e.g Late MKO Abiola.

EXACTLY

First of all, Poor people are usually not very intelligent and in a lot of cases that is why they
are poor in the first place. (not that im saying that im rich oooooo. )
as a result ,not thinking about how the kids will be trained, they continue to have these kids and  eventually
send them off to be maids and houseboys.

I know a man that is having many kids because  with many children, at least one must hammer. (can you imagine)

Also , as with most vicious cycles, a poor man is idle because he has no investments or high end jobs
taking up his time so what does he do? he keeps shaging his wife; ofcourse he cant afford contraceptives!! and 9months later : VOILA!!  another bomboy.
And so the poverty cycle continues.

Ofcource the kids wont go to proper schools (all those village schools with no windows or ceilings) and then they
come out half-baked (or even not baked at all).And the cycle continues.
That is actually one good reason why there are people in the village.

To boost their ego - they're poor but they have children in abundance.

Illiteracy and to claim equality with the rich. Since they gat no money then they gat the population.
