Presidency To Amaechi, Join APC, Dont Consult Jonathan by Nobody: 5:45pm On Nov 06, 2013
The Presidency on Wednesday said Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State was at liberty to leave the ruling Peoples Democratic Party for the opposition All Progressives Congress whenever he so desires.

Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, said this in an interview with our correspondent while reacting to a statement credited to Amaechi that he would consult President Goodluck Jonathan on whether or not to join the APC.

The governor was quoted to have made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving the leaders of the APC, who were in Port Harcourt, the state capital, to woo him into their fold.

“Before I join the APC, I will consult the President. I will. He is from our zone. I will consult all the consultables,” he was quoted to have said.

But Gulak said the governor was only trivialising the issues at stake as he deliberately engages in anti-party activities.

He said since Amaechi did not consult the President before inviting the APC leaders and giving them tumultuous reception in his state, he should not bother to consult Jonathan before leaving.

Gulak said, “Governor Amaechi did not consult the President before inviting APC leaders to Rivers State and giving them tumultuous welcome.  So, he does not need to consult the President before joining APC because he knows that the President will not allow any PDP member to go to the APC.

“Governor Amaechi is at liberty to join the APC; this is belittling the issue. We are not small boys; we are in a serious business of politics.

“You cannot, as a governor on the platform of PDP, invite APC leaders to your state and make a show of it and now say that you will consult the President who is the leader of the PDP before you join APC.

“He is just belittling the whole issue. He is trivialising the whole issue, he does not know the gravity of the moves he is making.”

the President will not allow any PDP member to go to the APC.

It seems PDP is deeply pained by Amaechi's independence and assertion of his fundamental rights of freedom of association! LMAO grin grin

Ameachi and co can go join APC. Why all the jamboree in the name of consulting? "A woman who really wants to leave her husband will simply quietly pack and go. But the one who does not want to leave her husband will announce to everyone she is leaving so that people will beg her to stay" - Reno Omokiri.

Amaechi made fool of those ApC clowns. How can he openly tell them that he need to consult Jona before he make his decision, He is justletting them know th Jona is still his boss. If he is rubbing shoulder with the president he couldn't have made such comment. Any way now that the presidency have given him go ahead he should not bother anymore about the consultation. Na one way ticket to APC already.

It's obvious that Amaechi is a very good footballer. Messi and Ronaldo have nothing on him. I think there's something he's trying to get from Jonathan and the PDP and is trying to use the APC to get it. I don't think he's really interested in leaving PDP.

Amaechi is one of those people that, when they leave the PDP, they don't take anything along with them. They become the nonentities they were before they became important. Amaechi has no stronghold in Rivers like some people will want us to believe. The only reason why he's still pulling some crowd is because he's the incumbent. The moment, he leaves office, him and Orji Uzor Kalu will be in the same category.

What gravity is Gulak talking about? Does he mean kinetic or static gravity against our Presidential Candidate?

I now get it, Amaechi wants to remain in PDP though for the time being, while working for APC which he will later join.

This is so true. You dont need any consultation before you join APC. Let the truth be told.

Very true. This reminds me of a lady during our secondary school days whom the parent sent out in the night for only God knows what.
She found solace in a waiting man and later got pregnant for the adventure. Ok, can the parents throw blames on her?

Pained NO rather pathetic. There is a reason nothing seems to work in this country. If you don't like the party why not leave. Why make a fool of yourself, the usual Nigerian style.

When d gods wants to destroy a person, he is first rendered totally mad. Now that governor Amaechi has totally gone insane, the inevertible is political destruction.
APC are just instrumental to his foreseen misfortune and ruin.
This GEJ led reformed PDP will be better off without sycophants and hypocrites like d G7 and their cohorts.

Did Gulak not make similar cock-sure pronouncements about the ephemeral nature of nPDP when it first emerged, only for Presido to back-pedal and engage in negotiations.

Gov. Aliyu Says PDP May Be In Opposition Tomorrow

Aliyu said: “I said it that the coming together of the ACN, ANPP and CPC brought radicalism closer. The emergence of APC is a harbinger for a proper revolution; a revolution that will now sanitize the politics of Nigeria”.
He, however, warned the ruling party to be “cautious, tread softly and be tolerant” with opposition parties, predicting that “the ruling party today may be in opposition tomorrow”.

And who is he causing sleepless night?
One thing u have to understand is that majority of these G7 governors are already in their 2nd term, and since they cant contest the next election they are all out to do and undo since they have nothing to lose, amaechi wont be thinking of joining the apc if he is still in his first tenure..he is just been a politrickcian lookin 4 higher ambition, which jonathan is not ready to give to him/them..

The main battle is getting the PDP presidential primaries ticket and the rest will be relatively easy.

Amaechi and his co invalids are free to take the express way out.

i just hope the people responding to this post are 45years and above....cos i ll be astound to find out that this is what our youths of nowadays engage themselves with,

APP! PCP! PDP! DPP! - are not political parties, they are symptom of a decayed society filled with greedy people. they Arr all the same. They are all basically corrupt.

You need to stop supporting the system, dont let these old men fool you. Development doesnt lie in the heart of political parties.

it lies in the heart of good men. which we dont have.

U don't get it. The party structure has been taking away frm him. That is in the person of chief felix obuah. The PDP chairman of the state. Obuah is only loyal to WIKE. So who choses the person to succeed him is out of his hands. All is about POWER, CONTROL.

I wonder how you could have authoritatively made such statement when you are not on ground. What is happening here is more or less an Ijaw conspiracy against Rivers people. They believe Rivers is Ijawland while Rivers people prefer being Rivers. Amaechi is a King as far as this upland Rivers is concerned. Onyesom Nwa-ike is just a political jobber whose influence starts and ends at a village known as Rumueme in Obio/Akpo and some part of Eliozu in Obio/Akpo based on forced initiation of young men into cultism..

On Orji Kalu, I hope you know he commands more respect in Abia than the present Governor and his party PPA won Imo and Abia States only for Igbos in their characteristic manner to betray him.
