The golden eaglets of Nigeria were just yesterday crowned the junior champions of the world by fifa. With several nigerian players getting accolades such as the silver boot, golden glove, fair play player of the tournament.
This has sparked celebrations as evident by the golden eaglets fan in the UAE not only the nigerian fans but also the Arab supporters and even the Mexican fans. The senate president of Nigeria, senator David mark wa also there to cheer the boys at the stadium.
The jubilations at the Al shagid stadium where the match was played is nothing compared to what happened in Nigeria. In ABUJA , the Raypower viewing center was agog with celebration. Other places across Nigeria also witnessed high spirited celebration with our national pride re-envigoured.
The Sense of national pride was first displayed by the boys on the pitch and nigerians both home and abroad are also basking in the pride, unity and honour that translate from the victory at the tournament. This to me is the biggest achivement of the GEJ administration so far if only the president can and will sustain this good international image, national pride, patriotism and hence promoting unity.
