Not only Nigerians are running away from Peugeot 607, but THE WHOLE WORLD is running away from that problematic car. Or how do u explain a worldwide sale of 18,000 units between 2004-2010. They only managed to sell 1,000 units in 2010 before Peugeot killed the car. The cars are simply scarce because people didn't buy them, and for u ro buy a used one u have to buy from someone that already bought it. There is a reason the whole world didn't buy them.

Hmmm! You can't really help it by been so negative whenever the word "Peugeot" pops up, to the point of searching for craps uniformed people post online and in wikipedia on lions. Don't you ever feel its awkward trying to sound authoritative on subject or something you have no clue, no experienced or no knowledge about? Why not ask to be taught ?

You said Nigerians are running away from Peugeot 607. Well, for your information, I am a Nigerian and I own a Peugeot 607 and a V6 one for that matter and "I LOVE" the lion so dearly, just like my other V6 Lions. So perfect!

Oh! You said the world are running away from the Peugeot 607. For your information, my want,my happiness is greater than that of the whole world. Who cares what the world wants? Who cares what my next neighbour wants? If the world prefers Keke Napep to Peugeot 607, do you think everyone cares about that?

Anyway, like I said to the earlier poster, lets here your personal experience as one time owner of the Lion 607 on why you think its problematic car, if that's your opinion. Its easier for me to know a true owner with one or two questions which only true owners would know. Forget about what your fellow man thinks of something unless that man thinks for you. Just like Jesus Christ asked, "But what about you?" "WHO DO YOU SAY I AM?"

So please, lets hear from those who have first hand experience about this amazing Lion to share their experiences with us, rather than, " They said, I heard, I read, I copied, etc"

See, Ikenna? I was right. I guessed you would get a 607 V6. cool

So I was right. Congratulations! How's the experience been so far? I've driven quite a few 607's, though mostly diesels, and they've been pretty smooth and refined.

by now u should have know Nigerians and d carefree attitude, 90% of cars on road have there check engine light ON n dey don't bother, which is the beginning of the woes of such cars.
popular mechanics around can toy with jap engines doing guess work n go scot free BT dere not try it with other brands.
bear it in mind DAT not all every body is inclined in automobile. Get into d car and drive from point A to B.
that's y u c people complaining abt Peugeot, Benz, Audi etc.
my advice is DAT if u can't take cautious effort to take care of ur car .... go for d japs.

Update:

Just this morning, I got a call from a good friend of mine who ordered a 607 V6 from Germany last month. The lion was delivered to him last night. He called this morning, so excited about the handling, gadgets and performance of the lion after a drive this morning.

One thing in life is: Choice! You either choose to be belong to group that miss out good life and complain about it all the time, or you choose the good life by following your bliss.

Good life is not for the faint-hearted or safe-zone ones.

Lol, this is not just a Nigerian thing dude. How else would u explain a car that sold well when it was first introduced and then sales stalled in subsequent years. The logic is simple, people who bought the earlier models found out about all the problems with the car, and since Peugeot refused to improve, people refused to buy subsequent models. They sold less than 20,000 units in 6 years, so are u saying all those people in Europe and other countries also have care free attitude that made them run away from the car? Even the units they sold most are fleets , only a few people actually bought the car for personal use. Likewise in Nigeria, u will hardly see someone use his money to buy a 607. The few ones u see are fleets or the ones that were bought when they were used as government official cars. Would u blame them? NO. Nobody wants to use his money to buy problem.

It is a very good car no doubt ( when it works.)

GM is stopping production on the Chevy SS which is a great car.
Honda is stopping the ZDX with sales number far worse than 607
BMW 8-series

A lot of manufacturers have failures in models that are seen to be too pricey for their position within the brand when the is a model that will fit the same purpose for a lot less.

607 was such a car but then it is for those who appreciates it with the depreciated value the will buy it used a rare top of the line lion for a very low price.
All car problems can be fixed but for some people exclusivity it priceless

I don't really think it is sentiments when it comes to people like Ikenna and Siena; these are part of the very few Nigerians who buy car that inspire them not just go from point A to B like me and many other Nigerians.

Not many Nigerians like their A8 like Siena even when he gets a regular one he still modifies it into the exclusive type, a car most will admire but afraid to own. There is a Merz called the beast a V12 Merz very few Nigerians will buy because its V12 but they all admire it.

Knowledge of what most pay for is not part of the car buying process for most Nigerians.Always consider what a car costs brand new compared to the used value then if it meets your need a higher msrp car is a better deal than the lower one. Imagine someone paying more for a Highlander than RX300 or Accord than Acura TL and I see the choices being made regularly.

If one of those buyers described above question my choice of car I will be offended because I consider such individual grossly incapable of seeing the value some buyers look for.

Very unfortunate that you are still a victim of these mind virus going on, especially in social media, " everyone says its bad, so its bad", without any even testing to confirm yourself if they were right.

Let me put this way for you. Do you stay in Abuja? If you do, how often do you see Peugeot 406 on Abuja road these days? Let me rephrase it, can you count tomorrow, out every 10-20 cars you stand to count, how many were 406? For those who already know the answer, everyone in Abuja wants to drive or own a 406. It has become crazy. I mean, 406, 407 & 206 has become like street colours of the whole Abuja city. Now, people were running away from this 406 & 407 because of mind virus they allowed themselves to be infected with. But when they started seeing that people were taking bold step to see what happens and realised they were wrong all the while, the rest jumped in and more are still scampering for the lion. Why did I bring this up? Do you know that the same system in 406 & 407 is the same in 607 you guys are saying " run for your dear life!"

The same electrical, mechanical and emission systems in 406, 407, 307, etc, is what is in 607.

Honestly, people really perish in ignorance. And the funny part of it is that they gloat about their ignorance.

The topic says why are Nigerians running from Peugeot 607 and I just gave the reason. It is a failed model and I am glad u also aknowledge that. So why would someone use his money to buy a failed model (except for enthusiasts but then they make up a very very minute percentage of the population.) It doesn't mean it is an entirely bad car, but there are far better alternatives in the same class. But the way some people talk on this thread its like they feel if someone is not driving the kind of car they drive or like, then that person clueless. And it all comes down to 'Nigerian mentality', 'maintenance culture' , etc. If u drive a Toyota they say u are following herd mentality even when it is obvious that Toyota sells very well in other countries especially north America and Asia. If those people are buying Toyota even though they have better mechanics and good maintenance culture, then whey won't Nigerians buy them when we have worse mechanics. Its all about check and balance, play it safe, it is always better to buy a trusted product than some untested unreliable technology that would require specialists (who are not readily available ) to fix.

So let's say everybody in Nigeria wants to buy a 607, do u think there would be enough to go round? When they didn't even sell up to 20,000 units in 6 years.

U know why someone would pay more for a used highlander than a Lexus Rx, or pay more for an accord than an acura TL? because one is luxury and one is not. Luxury cars lose their value faster, it is even worse on European luxury cars than Japanese luxury which still hold their value longer.

If I pay more for a 10 years old accord than a 10 year old acura TL, it doesn't mean I'm crazy bro. That acura or that lexus RX probably has air suspension which costs more than 3 times to replace than a normal suspension. Same reason a used hybrid car costs a lot cheaper than regular ones. Luxury cars are best enjoyed when new, when they age they become unpredictable with all the technologies they carry. A regular car has less technologies which are less likely to fail, plus cheaper to maintain.

My though was more towards the fact that if you are spending $12k on either car the possibility of replacing a $300 part compared to it being $100 on the Toyota should not be a logical reason of passing on the Lexus.

The big picture is some who know what they are buying have factored in all probable issues while those who don't just look at the face value and that is what used car dealers depend on for real profit in Nigeria

Now here is how it all work for car manufacturers, they all have parts bin and corporate drivetrains every car is built around this parts to save money; basically they all share parts.
The engine EW10,EW12, and ES9 can be found across the PSA model line, so the engine transmission and everything on that car is not exclusive to 607 90% is possibly be used on 407 except for a few trim and body parts.

How can there be mechanics capable of fixing 407 but not 607 or how can the drivetrain of the 407 be good but 607 bad? They are both the same and these parts are shared across the group including Citroen

The suspension thing was just an illustration. A 15 year old luxury car probably would have lots of its parts failing and they cost a lot to replace. Why do u think a 2000 model Toyota Camry pencil light costs more than a 2000 model range rover? (At brand new the range rover would buy 4 of the Camry ).

It is called scheduled maintenance where they are supposed to be inspected and replaced as needed to maintain factory ride quality.

Now before we proceed with our analysis every luxury or near luxury brand have the same downside after so many years of ownership and that side of the pool is meant for real men not kids. A new graduate will drive Camry or 407 not 607. When a buyer limits himself to the kiddie pool despite have the cash to upgrade then we can assume that his their limit.

It comes down to having enough cash to but luxury not having the ability to own luxury.

And we are talking of a 15 year old car you should see what cars can do now.
